Next Consoles Expected in 2012

The XBOX 360 is getting there. The PS3, well they will still be trying to get the PS3 started and it will already be time for the PS4.

Actually, there might not even be a PS4. Not sure Sony can take all the money loss with PS3.

2012 isn't an unreasonable estimate, either. I can definitely see at least one next-gen console out by then, plus for all the people whining that the 360 doesn't have "longevity", I think it's fair to say it's at least got 3 more years left in it (I'd go so far as to say it's got more than that, but even the naysayers have to agree - 3 years is easily doable). That'll be 7 years for the 360, not a bad run at all.
I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 didn't last as long as the PS2, the PS2 was king of the last generation after all, but I can still see it around a few years from now.

At the end of the day, I hope the next generation is a lot like this one. Sure, the constant fanboyism is tiring to say the least, but we've got some kickass consoles and some even better games out of it, so it's worth it.

With the sales of the PS3 i seriously doubt there will be a next PlayStation Console.

Though i don't expect Sony to get out of the Gaming industry all together i do see them making games for the next X-box console.:)

Just like Sega making games for the big companies now, soon it will be Sony joining them to make games for the superior Nintendo and Microsoft consoles.

The wii 2 might be out around then but for sony and microsoft theres no way in hell. There both guna be too buisy sorting out there current financial state before putting all that money into new developments, lucky the PS3 has a great enough life span to out last this so called 'recession'

Not to mention that unemployment statistics don't even begin to give us an idea of underemployment--e.g., people who used to work in the tech sector and now have jobs greeting people outside of Wal-Mart.

2012 would be a good year. Gives me enough time to fully enjoy the current gen while still advancing the tech.

I doubt that Sony wants Microsoft to enter the next gen market with no competition. If they hadn't allowed that this gen, Sony may very well be leading the console race. I expect to see them announce a new console (or at least a revision of the PS3) when MS announces theirs, or at least in a timely manner.

I believe that the PS3 and PS4 (if there is indeed one)will coexist peacefully until it is time to put it out to pasture. Much like the PS2.

But this is just my thoughts on this. And I'm extremely tired at the moment, so feel free to let me know how useless this post is and how I am in no way contributing to the discussion...

Nintendo regardless just needs to come out with a Wii like console with upgraded graphics and it should sell very well. hopefully Sony doesn't feel forced to come out with a console at the same time as MS. Ms has proven that it will rush out it's console no matter what to try and avoid direct competition. I'm sure MS will launch at least a few months earlier to get those early adopter dollars at least. If MS launches at the same time as Sony and Nintendo, they know they would wind up in last place which is why they launched early this gen.PS4 hopefully adapts a full motion controller like a break apart controller seen online to continue to push forward gameply interactivity but continue to come out with a robust lineup of games catering to many types of gamers.
