Stoked Delayed... Again

Heather of Infinite Bits writes: "Bad news for all those 'Huckers' and 'Carvers' out there. In a surprising and less-than-confidence-inspiring move, Destineer has sent out a press release the day before their upcoming snowboarding game Stoked was set to hit stores, delaying the game's release yet again. Previously slated for a November 25th 2008 release (and then until today, January 20th 2009), it's now planned to arrive in stores on an as-yet-unannounced date in February 2009. They site delays in testing, writing: "Update: Stoked is a highly anticipated title which has undergone aggressive play testing by Destineer to provide fans with the best play experience possible. As a result, Stoked will now be in stores next month." But I'm getting dubious.

Each time the game is delayed Destineer sends out new information to try to increase anticipation and alleviate fears that this game is riddled with problems and will be a colossal disappointment if it ever comes out at all. This time it's the inclusion of 'fame points' and the ability to take in-game photos and appear in in-game snowboarding films and magazines, thus rewarding you with notoriety and fame. These new features are demonstrated in a pack of 26 new screens, which look great, but I can't help feeling that they're published to try to prove that this game even exists."

6 Worst Game Titles of the Seventh Generation

AlienLion writes:

"As the seventh generation of consoles nears its’ mud dive, we feel the need for yet another round up, as part of our send off. This time, we will provide six examples of the most regrettably titled games of the past seven or eight years. Again, we will avoid the more obscure titles, because otherwise, the list would be endless, with stuff like Touch Dic and Sticky Balls (we fucking wish we were joking).

These are the rather well known games that have or will come out on some of the major consoles. This way, we can all appreciate just how little gaming has advanced, in that department, over the last few decades."

Mygamer: Stoked: Big Air Edition Review

Mygamer writes: "Stoked: Big Air Edition is a game I didn't know existed. Other than Ubisoft's Shaun White series, I thought there were no more snowboarding games being made, which was a shame since they tend to be a lot of fun, particularly the SSX series. Stoked goes in a different direction, separate from the arcade feel from the SSX series or the Extreme Games fame set up that Shaun White offers. Not unlike EA's successful Skate franchise, Stoked is all about making a name for yourself the old fashioned way. Forgoing huge competitions, Stoked is all about the sport."
