Halo 3: ODST's SMG

January 16, 2009 - The sub-machine gun (SMG) in the Halo universe has always been one of the weaker weapons in Master Chief's arsenal. The weapon first appeared in Halo 2 and players quickly recognized that if you didn't dual-wield it (preferably with something effective at taking shields down such as the plasma pistol), it was pretty worthless. It ended up being comparably weak in Halo 3. With the upcoming release of Halo 3: ODST, Bungie has decided to give the weapon an overhaul. Take a look inside to discover the goodie.

I was afraid that this would be very lazy. Just the same game with a few new multiplayer maps and 6 new campaign levels. I'm glad to see they're reevaluating the weapons (maybe we can expect new ones?) and making actual changes to improve the game play, even if it's not a sequel's worth of changes.

Bungie was always making Halo 3:ODST and that is supposedly Bungie's last game in the halo trilogy...as for Halo 4, still just a rumor if its being made but it WONT be from Bungie, i think the ppl that made the PC version of Halo 4 were rumored to be taking that project

i think it was 4 new multiplayer maps, not too sure how many campaign level...but in an interview with one of the Bungie employees, he hinted that there will be a COUPLE new weapons...although these new weapons will not be usable in the actual halo 3 multiplayer...just in halo 3:ODST campaign

I agree that Halo 4(if it's even made) will not be made by Bungie. last year Bungie split up from Microsoft game studios who owns the franchise.

Yes Bungie is making Halo 3 ODST. Set to release Fall 2009.

But the fact how it is used is important many times same engine is used to make game on PS2,PS3 and Xbox360 but the result is the same. Star ocean 4 and Infinte Undiscovery look differnet but use the same engine.

Yea, this is set to be a great download pack.

Like a lot of people, I was a little less than impressed with the plot of Halo 3, considering all of the advertising that made insanely awesome promises that the game was never designed to back (the whole diorama thing).

This actually looks incredibly interesting, a new way of viewing the halo universe. I almost wrote "haloverse," I must be hungover as hell.

Lol Killzone 2 is not even out yet. Just because it has good graphics does not mean it will be a good game. Haven't you people learned that after the disaster that Lair was? At least wait until the game comes out before you start screaming from the rooftops how good it is.

I know this is probably personal preference, but my biggest issue with the PS3 is I can not stand playing FPSs with that controller! If it had the 360s controller I know I personally would use it a lot more.

Does anybody know of a good solution for using a 360 controller on a PS3?(That actually works well)

One is a full game and the other is an expansion. Both will be great, so to me it doesn't matter which will be better. I'll enjoy both while you all argue over them.

yeah theres is a XCM adapter. its around 40 dollars. btw 360 controller is inferior, becuz of its anolog sticks. but 360 controller has better triggers and face buttons.

The sticks are better on the 360 imo. I like the fact that it is on a different axis. Now the d-pad is a different story.

The analog sticks on the 360 controller are far easier to grip, since they are concave; they do have less range in their motion, but I don't think that really makes a difference.

dis game rather expansion pack will behave much like Gearz of War 2 did in 2008...in termz of salez itll have somewhere around 2 to 3 mill on opening weekend and 6 to 8 million life time. the only thing im worried about is if itll have crazy glitchez like gearz 2 did.(though i think thtz very rare with Bungie)

Unfortunately dis game is gonna have 2 stand up against Uncharted or Infamous if MS doesnt announce any gamez for 09 (plz announce atleast 1 or 2 *fingerz crossed*)

i don't think it's halo odst that has to stand up to uncharted 2 or infamous. but uncharted 2 and infamous has to stand up to halo odst. we all know that halo has a stronger fanbase compared to those two games combined. even if halo get low reviews. it will still sale more than those games put together.

I've been poking around and heard that BioWare's Mass Effect 2 is supposed to be discussed at GDC 09 in March. (Game Developers conference) There will probaly be alot more discussed as well.

SMG rapes better than the assault rifle in close battles in Halo 3. SMG plus Battle Rifle is instant death for the opposite team.

I wish it had alittle more gray in it, like Killzone 2. This is just my preference. I hate the whole bright skittles colors all the time. This game needs some gray, hopefully it will be darker this time.

It's Halo game made by Bungie and will have that Bungie touch. It will probably sell 2 million copies in a day and 5 million by the end of the year. Halo fans will smoke this game like it's crack and will probably dominate fall 09.
