WP: "Vocabulary is one of the things that every writer values and is constantly striving to improve. We wordsmiths delight in learning new ways to say simple things in complex ways so our inferiority-wracked brains can delight in believing that we're smarter than the plebian masses who don't even know what "plebian" means. Therefore, a game that promises to build vocabulary and teach you lots of new ways to say the same old thing sounds like a lot of fun. Unfortunately for Margot's Word Brain, all that fun is thrown out the window as soon as you start playing the game."

If you count yourself among the linguistic elite, or might be buying Christmas gifts soon for someone who does, then Margot and her $19.99 MSRP are certainly worth a look. But those without a strong passion for language are better off looking elsewhere, or just loading up that free online version of Bookworm for a quick fix before moving on.

Diehard GameFAN: Margot's Word Brain DS Review

You might think it'd be pretty cool to have a collection of your favorite online word games on a handheld system. You'd be wrong. Margot's Word Brain is not only devoid of enjoyable content, but makes the gameplaying experience absolutely excruciating. With a lot more polish, this might be a decent game. But as it is, without any sort of online leaderboards or anything, you're just playing crummy word games against yourself. And that's no fun at all.
