Games for Lunch Review: Noitu Love 2

Kyle Orland writes:

"0:00 The name rang a vague bell in my head when I read it, but I'm playing it today based almost solely on this glowing write-up from Kotaku. I just hope I won't be lost since I didn't play the original...

0:01 "In 2088, cities around the world decided to create organizations that would maintain the peace that had been established after the orbital wars ... but then a madman, Darnacus Damnation ... attempted to overthrow society multiple times." Noitu Love and sidekick Lori stopped him every time. Darnacus was killed, but his body was never found (dun dun DUN). "After that, peace returned and nobody thought back on it. But many years later, in the world of 2888, history will repeat itself in more ways than one."

0:03 In stylish, low-res 2-D, snow falls, then an orbiting sky-ship explodes in a huge white beam of energy. Cut to the title screen, with a black-haired girl in a green jumpsuit and spinning clock hands in the background. Old-school synthpop music. Loving the retro feel."

This disappointment however was short lived as we were soon transported into a ridiculously colourful and up-beat 16-bit world, where we were free to bash robots to my giddy hearts content.
