I planned on getting the PS3 version, mostly due to the d-pad, and I am also glad the install is optional for those that want it. Here is hoping the online is buttery smooth like like HD Remix (even though its not the same GGPO server but like I said, here is hoping).

Cwalat5593d ago

agree,

i'm also getting the PS3 version (since that's what i own :P)
but i'm getting the fightsticks aswell.

nice to see the install is optional. :)

great choice Capcom

hope others catch up!

POGfinder5593d ago

definitely good news for sure

gaffyh5593d ago

Even though install is optional, I'd rather do the install than not.

Lifendz5593d ago

Not flaming but I was going to get the 360 version so I could play my buddy who's in the Military but after playing Gears 2 and seeing how the dpad on 360 can't even handle that, I'm going for the PS3 version.

Install option? Sweet. I'll definitely take that option as I have over 100 gigs of free space in my PS3.

joydestroy5593d ago

with you guys as well. i own both consoles but wouldn't dream of getting a fighting game on my 360 because of the d-pad. i don't really have the money to shell out for the fighting stick.

BleuStreeks5593d ago

what is the big with installs...I love it when I can install a game is 5 minutes of your time really that serious for people to complain. Why wouldn't any install any game that they can if it improves performance, just looking for something to complain about if you ask me..grow up people. As far as street fighter goes its obvious how can you play street fighter on a 360 with that sorry excuse for a dpad. PS3 is the superior version because you can actually play smoothly...I am a big street fighter fan but playing with analog is a nightmare imo. PS3 version FTW.

prowiew5593d ago

I wish loading doesnt exist in gaming ( I hate loading!)

Danja5593d ago

PS3 version for me....the Special Edition had me sold...plus I hate playing fighting games with the 360 D-Pad

SaiyanFury5593d ago (Edited 5593d ago )

I don't mean to sound negative, but does a couple of seconds really matter in loading times? I started playing disc based games on the Sega CD about 15 years ago and load times were worse then than they are now on about ANY PS3 game so a few extra seconds doesn't bother me. Sure, an optional installation to the HDD is a good thing, but it shouldn't be a forced issue. My PS3's factory 60GB HDD is almost full just because of the PSN games and few mandatory installs that I've had to go through. As most people here, I'll be getting the PS3 version of the game simply because the D-pad design of the PS3's DualShock 3 is tried and true and the 360 controller's just doesn't work for fighting games.

pixelsword5593d ago

and why does N4G puts a bunch of nobodies on their front pages when the same nobodies on a thread are taboo?

Kaneda5593d ago

PS3 for me too..becoz that is all I own. :)

So really the "benefits" of Blu-Ray are once again put to question here, because you need to install the game to see any real benefit on the PS3 vs. the 360 version's DVD load times.

Cwalat5593d ago

yepp.. blu-ray does have alot of space.. but reading speed isn't at it's best. but that's all a matter of creativity.

Naughtydog managed to fit Uncharted on a 25GB bluray disc,
without any downloads, they managed to create a seemless game with ZERO loading screens.

But nonetheless. The time loadings shouldn't have that biggofa difference without install aswell.. probably 2-3 seconds.

But if you're looking for fast loading. i say download.

you can always remove the save after.

thereapersson5593d ago

Oh yes, I agree on the storage benefit, and being able to fit more high-quality assets on the game disc when compared to a rival format. However, the loading times of the PS3's slow Blu-Ray drive really don't do the format any justice.

Massahud5593d ago

1x Blu Ray speed is 36Mbps.
1x DVD speed is 1.3Mbps.

PS3 blu ray drive is 2x, so 74Mbps.
You need a 56x DVD drive to match a 2x blu ray drive in speed.

Lifendz5593d ago

but they don't use it if the game has to go to 360. It's the truth. This is why Sony exclusives are light years better than any multiplat game. Blu-ray does make a difference. But Capcom will never utilize blu-ray to the fullest when doing so would mean a gimped 360 version.

But at least they're getting better at making a multiplat on PS3 and are no longer forcing us to do an install (hopefully a trend that continues).

Fishy Fingers5593d ago (Edited 5593d ago )

Price you pay for early adoption (2x speeds).

Although many people make the same mistake I did, DVD9s (majority of 360 games) run one layer at 12X and the other at 8X, DVDs also dont read at a constant rate like BR, essentually the figures you see for DVD read speeds are at their max, when in real life use they fluctuate quite a bit.

Yes BR reads slower but with decent streaming and caching to the HDD installs shouldnt be required, they generally only happen now on multiplat games, which I imagine is because devs dont want to invest more time and effort in one system and not the other. But obviously I dont know the ins and outs of each case.

Each format has it's pro's and con's.

@ Massahud, What? Totally incorrect.
DVD 12X =
12× 126.60 (Mibit/s) or 16.20 (MB/s)
BD 2X =
2× 72 (Mibit/s) or 9 (MB/s)

Massahud5593d ago (Edited 5593d ago )

I messed up with the DVD reading, I thought it was Mbps and not MBps.

So the reading speed of single layer DVDs is faster on the 360, but since the 360 reads dual layer discs at 8x the difference is not so big, 10.80MBps max vs 9MBps constant.

IdleLeeSiuLung5593d ago

There might also be a possibility that lower res textures are put on the 360 version and not as much data is being streamed off the disc. I only heard of 1 game that has this though, I think a game by ID Software, but can't remember the name.

Kushan5593d ago

You can quote facts and figures all you like and whatever way you like to make it seem like the PS3's BR drive is faster than the 360's DVD-ROM drive, but at the end of the day if there's a difference in loading times between the two consoles, it's usually in favour of the 360.
I'm not bashing the PS3 here at ALL, I'm just pointing out that sometimes practice is a little different than theory. I really don't see why people get so beat up over a couple of seconds here or there, as your drive ages, you'll probably end up with slightly slower loading times anyway.

Karum5593d ago

Not sure what you're on about in regards to the load time.

The guy explicitly says the load times for the 360 and PS3 are the same and that you can shave off a sliver by installing the game and even if you do have to install it for there to be an identical load time, the guy said a sliver of time shaved off so there isn't any point giving thought to load times here.

pixelsword5593d ago

They said they both ran well "especially" if the PS3 version was installed; it did not say that not installing would make it slower than the 360.

I m buying KZ2 in feb only

Other games have to wait

Fishy Fingers5593d ago

You crazy? I cant think of anything better than jumping between KZ2 and SF4.

PPnoPP5593d ago

I'll be getting the Superior Xbox360 version.

thereapersson5593d ago

Well considering that's the only console you own, I'd say that's a pretty obvious statement.

Dumbass!

JasonPC360PS3Wii5593d ago

I'll be getting the superior 360 version myself and I'm looking at a PS3 sitting right there under the table.

thereapersson5593d ago

Hrm, I wonder who won the match between team Playstation and team XBOX?

:)

blackbeld5593d ago (Edited 5593d ago )

Difficult to play it when your Xbox is in for repair..

JasonPC360PS3Wii5593d ago

The 360 will come back from repair before your game is finished loading.

solidjun55593d ago

then the 360 will go back for repairs after you turn it on.

See, I say dumb things too.

How Street Fighter IV Saved 2D Fighting Games (Ft. Maximilian Dood)

After Street Fighter II released in in 1991, it caused a fighting game explosion, both in arcades and in home consoles. But, as the decade ended, and arcades were failing, so too were 2D Fighting games. This is how Street Fighter IV completely revitalized the genre.

Snookies12324d ago

I'd say Blazblue helped too. Didn't care for Street Fighter 4, but Blazblue was amazing during that time. Sad that the series kind of went downhill after the first 2 or 3 games though.

DarXyde324d ago

BlazBlue was phenomenal. Platinum'd Calamity Trigger because I loved it so much. I remember buying Continuum Shift back in the day at launch for like $40. They did have DLC characters (Valkenhayne, Makoto, and Platinum at the time) and it came out to just a tad more than it would at full price. Didn't mind at all.

Great fighting game.

Snookies12324d ago

Continuum Shift was definitely my favorite. Spent way too many hours on that game, haha... Had the counters for days with Hakumen.

DarXyde324d ago

I really like Makoto, Valkenhayne, and Hazama. Super fun characters

Terry_B324d ago

Valkenhayn ..just sayin'

Terry_B324d ago

BlazBlue was the much better, more technical game..and a real 2D Fighting Game after all. But yes, since it was a big name..the characters were still popular and the game itself was good, SFIV indeed helped a lot. However, I am pretty sure the much better-selling Mortal Kombat 9 would have been done without SFIV as well..and that one truly helped to make the fighting game genre in general more popular again.

Ryuha1234h324d ago

You’re sound dumb. Blazblue was not better than sf4. You’re just saying that because you’re a street fighter hater.

Redgrave324d ago

>calls someone dumb
>does it by saying "you're sound dumb"

Task failed successfully

Terry_B324d ago

A SF Hater eh? Fight me in SF 2,3 4 or 5 and you will regret that stupid comment ;)

gold_drake324d ago (Edited 324d ago )

eyyy max xD

one of the very few streamers i can actually watch without it being cringe and awful ha.

GhostScholar324d ago

The content of IV was severely lacking when it launched. It got better over time.

Street Fighter Producer Says Fans Need To "Convince" Nintendo, If They Want More Entries On Switch

they botched SFV so bad, just start over, make a new version with proper single player mode and fully fleshed out with support for all of the consoles this time.

King91656d ago (Edited 1656d ago )

Gamer7804@ they already did kinda it call sf5ae it help sf5 sell like another 2 million copies.

Teflon021655d ago

SFV is actually great now. Bunch of modes, bunch of characters, alot of stages, not sure what else there is to even complain about. Costume MTX? Not a issue imo, I don't get what I don't want anyways

gamer78041655d ago

botched launch, and they launched only on one console and currently after a long time still on one console.

Enigma_20991656d ago

Did you see how Ultra and the Collection sold? We don't need to convince Nintendo of anything. Just put it on the console.PHYSICALLY.

King91656d ago

Enigma_2099@ they probably have to make a new sf game just for the switch they probably will need Nintendo to help fund it just like sony help fund sf5.

PhoenixUp1656d ago

You’re not seeing Street Fighter V come to other platforms besides PC because Sony helped co-fund the game so it’s staying only on PS4 & PC

NapalmSanctuary1655d ago (Edited 1655d ago )

Don't know why anybody would want SF5 on Switch. Especially if they owned a Switch.

rainslacker1656d ago

That doesn't makes sense. Is Nintendo saying that Capcom can't publish the game on the system because it's users don't want the game? if so, that's really stupid of them, because why should they care?

Nintendo isn't saying such things of course.

Capcom shouldn't pass the buck. If they don't want to make more SF games on the Switch, then just say so, and say why.

If they want Nintendo to fund the project, then they are the ones that need to convince Nintendo to give them money.
