Tekken 8 Battle Pass Announced, Joins Season Pass and In-Game Store for Monetization

Tekken 8 will now also have its own Battle Pass called the "Tekken Fight Pass" which was revealed in the latest Tekken Talk devstream.

A $70 game with a shitty MTX cosmetics shop and newly added a battle pass. Conveniently added after the game's launch of course.

After they announced the in-game Tekken Shop, I read a tweet by Harada defending it, saying if they didn't do it, the game would lose support after two months. As if it's not a new full priced game selling on multiple platforms with standard, deluxe, ultimate and collector editions, season passes and will be selling DLC characters individually too. I somehow doubt they'll be lacking funds to support the game after a couple months.

Tekken 5 on PS2 including the arcade modes of Tekken 1, 2 & 3 on the disc, has got to be a high point for the series.

Japanese devs usually late to these trends but when they catch up they tend to go all in. Really wonder how long this game will be supported, because with all the bs monetization they've added just how many will be willing to fork over so much cash? Especially since now more than ever there are quite a few fighting games to get into.

These are increasingly depressing times in terms of buying full priced games and then just getting nickel & dimed to the bone by these shamelessly greedy devs.

Was impressed with the Tekken 8 demo but so glad/relieved I didn't pick it up ...

The excuse "Oh, we NEED to do this so we can keep supporting this game is such obvious BS, it's actually offensive in itself ... "

I don't buy incomplete games so my self control is fine, but it's disappointing that in order to experience and enjoy a full game, you pretty much have to wait a few years until they release a complete edition, if they ever will, and if I'm still interested in the game by then.

if your self control is fine you would decide if a game is complete or otherwise and just enjoy whats there. Might as well just give up the hobby as everyone is deploying these tactics. you do you tho
