RUMOR: Possible DLC Map Editor in the future for Killzone 2

In a recent "Ask the Dev" thread made at the Official Playstation Forum Boards, Seb Downie (QA Manager of Guerrilla Games) was asked by a Playstation member this question -

"Does Killzone 2 engine make possible a future DLC Map Editor?"

And this is what Seb had to say in reply

"Tough one. But it is something we'll keep in the back of our minds for the future."

Now this is definitely a "RUMOR" as of right now (as headlined & channel typed). But what are your thoughts on this topic, gamers?

In addition (as I knew it couldn't be added in the article), would or even could it actually be that far off to say that with the knowledge of Sony's proven business model by allowing user made content for titles such as LBP & Unreal Tournament 3 (confirming it's possible & allowable). That the only real obstacle is as Seb himself actually describes?

And that is as the future holds....only time will tell.

Perhaps, but both LBP and UT3 are build from the ground up with UGC (mods in UTs case) also bare in mind all the UT3 stuff must be build on a PC, you cant create anything using the PS3 alone.

KZ2 map editor, personally I dont see it. There are probably other features easier to implement and more sort after (co-op). Did you ever use the FC2 map editor on consoles? I found it very tedious.

If it's anything like the Far Cry 2 editor, you can make robust levels as long as your willing to invest a little time and effort into it. I have made several and there are hundreds available. Let's make it happen.

A Map Editor would be awesome, but I'd like a feature in Killzone 2 like in Halo 3 where you can record gameplay straight to your hard drive.... actually, I wish that ALL games supported that feature.

In Addition to More Maps, Vechicles in Multiplayer like Tanks, the walking Mech in the Single Player, and whatever else would be awesome too for future DLC.

That's another good point (recording)....but remember that feature is ACTUALLY in the PS3 from an earlier FW update so it is just a matter of time for devs to implement it!

KZ does not currently support the YouTube feature thing according to MotherH on the PS forums. But it is something their said to be looking at. I believe he stated they want to include every possible PS3 feature they can (trophies, sixaxis, rumble, youtube thingy etc).

Something to expect from the DLC I guess.

a long while back they said Killzone 2 will have a recording feature similar to the one on Halo 3

5 to 6 yrs in the making you would think they would have added....lets say Dogs....CO-OP....and now a rumor DLC Map Editor don't you droids get IT how can they add MORE if Killzone 2 is Pushing PS3 to the MAX otherwise don't you droids think everything would have been added in the FINAL BUILD.

GG have already made it clear they can get more out of the PS3, unlike Epic or Volition with the 360. So....

Lets just for the sake of your dumb argument say that KZ2 maxes out the PS3. Would it be that bad of a thing? The graphics make your favorite system look like the wii.

Highly doubtful that they will release a map editor for Killzone 2. Something like that would take lots of time to develop and make it user friendly for general users.

I think for Guerrilla Games to develop and release their own map packs will be sufficient.

um....they have a 10-15 hour campaign an the best online i have ever played. they have quality over quantity.

Whilst i'm not saying this is a bad idea - in fact, if implemented correctly it could be a great idea - I think there would be too many levels with one building and a cannon, as almost everyone would be too lazy to spend the days building a proper level.

You would be amazed at some of the creativity people have put into their maps. There are lazy people, true, but the gems would rise easily to the top.

Its a rumour so its pretty pointless. The guy basically says we'll think about it in 2 years time on killzone 3.

It would be brilliant though. Im guessing something similar to Far cry 2 level editor rather than the Halo forge.

With the amount of detail in Killzone 2 I would have no problem paying for the map editor although some mouse and keyboard support would be nice.

but I personally can't see this happening until the next itteration of the series. This just seems to be too much to do as DLC! but who knows?. Definatley would be something I could see in the following KZ game though!
