Even though I'm not interested in streaming what so ever. I found this interesting.

PS wiping the floor with Xbox even in the streaming department? I guess Azure wasn't as much of an advantage as some thought...

ThinkThink67d ago

"Wiping the floor"? You watched the same video I did?

Einhander197267d ago (Edited 67d ago )

@ThinkThink

"That brings us to the next crucial point: how PS Plus Cloud compares to Microsoft's Xbox Cloud Gaming. The service is still technically in beta, but it's been this way for years and is offered as an Xbox Game Pass perk on the Ultimate subscription. It's a fair point of comparison in this respect but, to be blunt, the Xbox cloud offering simply does not compete with the PS+ Premium service from a technological perspective, for a multitude of reasons."

"In image quality, for example, it's significantly worse, with a maximum 1080p resolution video stream against 4K on PlayStation. The bitrate is also visibly lower in step with that resolution target, something that's evident in just about every game we tested. A Plague Tale Requiem, compared running in its 60fps mode across PS5, PS+ Cloud and Xbox Cloud Gaming (image comparison further down this page), shows just how far Microsoft is behind here."

"There's an extra twist to this too. Not only is the video stream lower quality on Xbox's cloud gaming service, but users are being served the Xbox Series S versions of each game I tested - despite confirmation from Microsoft that xCloud datacentres are built on Series X silicon."

"Speaking of value, the cost of each has to be mentioned too. The PlayStaion Plus Premium tier costs £13.50/$18 per month or at a slight discount for £120/$160 a year. For that you currently get 851 games available to stream right away, 201 of which are PS5 titles. The catalogue varies by region too, but it's an impressive number. And as a bonus, specific additional PS5 titles are available for cloud streaming if you happen to have bought them through the PlayStation store already, such as Cyberpunk 2077. By comparison Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the tier that includes streaming, costs a similar £13/$17 a month. In exchange, you get access to 402 cloud-ready games overall, including 225 for Series X/S."

I would not say 'wiping the floor'. But it seems the PS cloud streaming is just better at this point in time.

just_looken67d ago

Na this is one sided to me makes 0 sense buying a ps5 to play ps5 games on stream service.

With xbox you can stream on any device even android tv's with a controller.

They are comparing ps5 console streaming ps5 games vs a series x streaming xbox games on a remote xbox one s.

How about ps app android streaming vs xbox app android streaming no ps5 like a sane person would.

crazyCoconuts66d ago

@jlookin, this article is comparing streaming quality between the services, not about whether you like streaming from a console or not.

RaiderNation66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

Either way who cares. Cloud streaming sucks regardless and I want no part of it.

ConsoleAgnostic66d ago

Doesn't Playstation use Azure !? Lol

Sorry about the video yall. I've never had to embed anything so I'm trying to figure it out.

ocelot0767d ago

That's actually fairly surprising. I had to rely on both Xbox cloud and PSN now a few months ago and both worked really well and didn't really notice any difference in them. Maybe that's because I streamed to a phone I really don't know.

ApocalypseShadow67d ago

Lol. Yeah. I think it was because you were streaming to a phone.

just_looken67d ago

@ocelot 100%

What you see here is them using a ps5 to remote stream ps5 games because that is the only way you can do that were as xbox is using a remote series S console.

psn android uses ps4 era hardware vs a series S so xbox is better there.

To me it makes no sense why i would buy a ps5 console to stream a ps5 game instead of downloading it to the hardware like a sane person.

shinoff218367d ago (Edited 67d ago )

I prefer physical, but I'd definitely rather download to the console then to rely on the internet

Lexreborn266d ago

Well if you have say a service that provides you ps5 digital games for “free” and you were on the fence or waiting for a deal and it’s there. Want to try it immediately and not use your storage the streaming makes a lot of sense.

If you are equipped to handle streaming and higher quality and the latency isn’t an issue or not twitch for say an Action or competitive game. Streaming can also work there, technology advances in options no reason to buckle down on an old method that isn’t going away.(well for Xbox it is)

badz14966d ago

@just_looken

what video did you watch? this is comparing streaming to PS5 and streaming to the Series X! the only thing xbox streaming is doing better here is having slightly lower controller input lag in Back4Blood and CP2077 while having worse graphics and framerates.

keep being in denial all you want but stop spreading false info.

ocelot0766d ago

What "sane" person takes the full ps5 console to the bathroom? Or keep moving the console to another room in the house. Or take the console to work? Doesn't sound like a sane person to me that.

just_looken66d ago

@lex

I have this service on my ps5 you can download or stream the game on a ps5 you already have access to every DD of each stream able ps5 game. There is 0 reason to stream ps5 games on a ps5

DF should also test the remote play on both systems.I tried remote play on both using Batman Arkham Knight as a test.

Interestingly, the differences I found were similar to the cloud streamings. The PS5 had a much clearer and stable image, while the Xbox lagged so much more but has slightly less input lag.

anast66d ago

PS is better at streaming than Xbox, ha. Xbox is definitely going all Android soon.

PhillyDonJawn66d ago (Edited 66d ago )

So the difference is that PScloud is streaming ps5 hardware while for some reason Xcloud is streaming from series S hardware instead of series X.

From my experience streaming via phone is pretty much unplayable while streaming on console was very good quality that's nearly like playing natively. I don't understand why

Cyber Citizen Shockman 3: The Princess from Another World review - Games Asylum

Games Asylum: "Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog weren’t the only platforming heroes receiving system-selling sequels in 1992. Over in Japan, the PC Engine’s Kaizō Chōjin Shubibinman (Shockman) series gained its third entry. US gamers had only just received the second game, and while there was hope of the CD-based Kaizō Chōjin Shubibinman 3 making it to the US, it was never to be. After playing through this newly translated re-release, it’s easy to see the potential it may have had – it’s comparable visually to Mega Drive/Genesis games released the same year and would have likely been positively received in the likes of EGM and GamePro."

Don't Blame Arrowhead For Helldivers 2's PSN Controversy, Blame Sony

Sony is to blame for Helldivers 2 getting brutally review bombed, so why is Arrowhead still catching strays?

i feel like a majority has been blaming Sony and not Arrowhead.
just what ive seen.

isarai13h ago

Same, not sure where they were looking

Tacoboto3h ago

Arrowhead's CEO is awesome and so transparent; they're demonstrating they're a gamer-first studio and will stand by our side even with a publishing partner as big as Sony.

I haven't seen anyone blaming Arrowhead except the dumb "but you knew!" takes... Which are useless, it's still the publisher that listed it for sale in unsupported countries.

northpaws46m ago

but when they review bombs, it hurts arrowhead, not Sony

KwietStorm_BLM2h ago

I think we've already moved past it but hey gotta remind everyone what direction to throw shade where they were already throwing it.

DarXyde1h ago

Is anyone blaming Arrowhead?

That would be news to me.

TheColbertinator1h ago

I do. Sony is a pox on the gaming industry.
