Definitely don’t start your Final Fantasy VII experience with Rebirth

I already used to do that back in the day. Bought both God of War 2 and FFXIII-2 without knowing anything about their prequels

The first game was so bad i couldn't finish it. Endless fetching, nonsense additions, etc. Cool visualization of Midgar, but it's all filler.

"Endless fetching" - Don't do the side quests then, they do kind of suck.
"nonsense additions" - Most of the additions are actually very welcome to some parts that NEEDED fleshing out.
"it's all filler" - That isn't even the least bit true...

There were some lacking moments in Remake, and some odd choices at times I'll give you that. Trying to say the game was "bad" though is very far off the mark. It's a fantastic game.

Yeah hard disagree on this. If you skip remake you wont miss out on anything. The story truly kicks off when you leave Midgar.

The heck do you mean? You will miss out on EVERYTHING if you skipped Remake, lol. Who the hell goes into a story driven series without playing the first part of it? There's absolutely no point in jumping on mid-way through something like that. You'd have no context for any characters or their relationships, nor their goals or plot of the series as a whole.

To anyone new to FFVII I’d suggest the play the original then rebirth.

I haven't yet played Remake but will certainly play that first. I take it Remake and now Rebirth don't have that feature that is in FF16 where you can basically pause at any time and it gives you background and details of the characters and locations you are with and at? I am a casual Final Fantasy player and they aren't exactly my favorite games overall but I do enjoy them and that feature in FF16 was such an amazing thing and it helped folks like myself big time.

tbh if your a casual FF player just skip remake cos its boring. Rebirth has a catch up video that pretty much sums it up.

The entirety of Remake just felt like filler. It was such a struggle to play because the world just constantly dragged on and on and the voice acting grated, always feeling like the voice actors had no idea what they were actually voicing in game so regularly felt disconnected.

This was all caused by them insisting on dragging it out in order to try and make more money from 3 games rather than just making a great single game and you feel that in every single moment and choice within the game.

I agree remake was filler but there was no way they were gonna remake it in one game. It would’ve been development hell because it would take 20 years and require constant tech debt upgrades during that process prolonging development.

Remake was average, but in hindsight seems necessary to make the rest of the game really great.

I agree, but have many friends who chose Rebirth as their first Final Fantasy experience, and they all think the game is a blast and a great story.

The recap both before the game, and within the game is actually good enough for people who skipped OG, Crisis Core, Ever Crisis, Advent Childen, Dirge of Cerberus, The novellas, Ttaces of Two Pasts and Remake.
