Silent Hill: The Short Message is a true Silent Hill game that delves head first into psychological horror.
The writing and characters are so horribly done, especially given the subject matter. It’s fine to tackle suicide in a game, but this ain’t it.
Gary Green writes: Silent Hill is a series that has now become famous for its ups and downs. While I could pick the whole series apart game by game, we’ll skip ahead and say the last few games didn’t exactly set the world on fire. However, Silent Hill was long overdue for a revival, a revival originally helmed by Konami veteran Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame, yet this wasn’t to be.
Silent Hill: The Short Message have surpassed two million downloads, Konami announced.
From what I understand this is like a demo as a short game. I downloaded it but waiting for my 15 year old daughter to have time to play with me.
And two million people would have cancelled their Silent Hill 2 preorders.....I know it's different developers, but it doesn't necessarily show Konami in a good light.
I mean, there’s still hope for SH2, maybe… I mean revamp the combat by making it feel impactful and sound impactful. Improve some animations. If they did that it could be super solid.
I think part of the problem is these devs probably have a cheap budgets because I don’t know why else Konami would pick them to handle these games. Like the devs that did that terrible RE:Verse game are doing Silent Hill F… that doesn’t instill a lot of confidence in me.
I'm sure they have listened to the community feedback regarding combat and impact sounds etc.

I have yet to try it. Got too many other games to be getting on with but I do think it looks OK in spite of the mixed reviews. I'll get around to it one day 😂
