A Final Fantasy 6 remake would take ‘twice as long’ as FF7, says producer

But Kitase acknowledges internal calls for the company to remake the classic entry.

But do we want just a remake or this crazy fanfic that is going on with ff7?

Tapani115d ago

Exactly! I really didn't enjoy FFVII Remake Intergrade. It felt too confined and too many fetch quests, and disliked the battle system because in the end it was reduced to smashing buttons (no matter how much people say it was strategic!) FFXVI battle system was equally bad, and confined and had very little content.

All these new entries want me to play the old classics, they were simply just better in every way. Most of all, the atmosphere, pacing, storytelling and RPG elements were so much better. Plus they had more personality.

glennhkboy114d ago

I to VI have been remaked, remastered multiple times before. So there would be no surprise if SE decides to remark VI.

-Foxtrot115d ago

Oh please let’s not exaggerate

They could do it, no one is asking for an ambitious reimagining like VII

It can be done, they just don’t to want do it

Tzuno115d ago

ambitious reimagining? you mean episodic greed?

Inverno115d ago

Final Fantasy has had many games with direct sequels, idk why years later people keep calling 7 episodic

CS7115d ago

Bro FFVII Remake has an 89 metacritic and is a sequel to the original.

Furthermore, it is truly near impossible to release a full FF7 with the presentation given in the remake without cutting alot of content.

I dont think this is a case of greed.

-Foxtrot115d ago

@Inverno

Oh come on man, look at this

https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

Prequels, sequels, films, side games, remakes, ports

Other Final Fantasy games have nothing on the love VII gets

It's the 25th Anniversary of Final Fantasy VIII next month, VII had a massive celebration, will VIII? God no, it will be forgotten about like most other FF games.

goldwyncq115d ago

Each part has taken four years to develop and are full games on their own with over 50 hours of content. How is that not ambitious?

andy85115d ago

Isn't greed at all tbh. I don't see how it's even possible to put every location in FF7 in one game with the scale they made Midgar. Look at the size of Kalm town to pick one location of rebirth. The scale is grand and it was absolutely tiny in FF7. I'd rather them fully flesh out each location than give us some rushed cash grab condensing everything.

amazinglover115d ago

The First episode is almost as long as the original game and too some could be longer depending on how you play.

They could have put almost no effort into it and still made a ton of money.

So how is that in any way a cash grab.

FinalFantasyFanatic114d ago

@amazinglover
They should have made the first part shorter, the game suffers from bad pacing, and sometimes it's absolutely excruciating, I would have paid for a shorter experience as long as it was priced reasonably.

CrimsonWing69114d ago

So, sequels are episodic greed now? Remake/Integrade was a lengthy RPG that felt like a first installment in a series.

Give me a break with this “episodic greed” nonsense.

Yea, I'd be happy with a Star Ocean Second Story R style remake of FF6, it was flippin gorgeous.

shinoff2183115d ago (Edited 115d ago )

Man was it ever. It was my personal game of the year last year. Idc it was a remake

Nebaku115d ago

Personally I think the Bravely Default engine would have made a good fit for a more faithful FF7 remake.

It would have been cool to see all of FF7's pre-rendered backgrounds redone in Bravely's style, where everything has a pop-up book like effect, and the bg layers move as the player does throughout the world.

Not to mention FF7's famously low poly chibi characters would have transferred so well to the style.

FinalFantasyFanatic114d ago

I'll take a AA game with graphics on par with Trials of Mana or somewhat better, not everything has to be AAA, but I also don't trust Square-Enix to remake it, Square-Enix tends to take the easy/lazy path with this franchise more often these days.

Eonjay115d ago

It depends on their scope. There are certainly levels to this.

Knightofelemia115d ago (Edited 115d ago )

FF6 is a good game but I'd rather have Xenogears or even Chrono Trigger.

Eonjay115d ago

Oh man imagine how long a proper Xenogears remake would take! Would love to see it though.

notachance115d ago

I hope whoever did star ocean 2 remake would take on xenogears remake

FinalFantasyFanatic114d ago

Imagine a proper disc 2! The story deserves a remake, or at least, do the second disc.

nommers115d ago

They could make a 2.5 HD remake of it like Octopath traveler

ZeekQuattro115d ago

I was hoping they'd dojust that after seeing how Octopath, Live A Live & Triangle Strategy turned out.

Great news it shows that Nintendo intends to continue developing ports of AAA games to its next gen platform

H92d ago

Buying studios from embracer now is a great deal, they must be dirt cheap at this point, Nintendo is a opportunist, they wait until someone fall so they get their best deal

OtterX2d ago

That is some serious brain gymnastics you have going on there. 🤔

H92d ago

I didn't do any gymnastics I can assure you, honestly I don't know why you think that, not hating I seriously don't see why you think that

ZeekQuattro2d ago

Yeah I don't know where that came from. It's rare for Nintendo to flat out aquire studios. Guess they were trying to be edgy but why flex on this studio. 🤣

Kneetos1d 9h ago

At least they are safer from layoffs with Nintendo then any other company

banger882d ago

I hope someone buys Piranha Bytes, their future isn't looking good right now. I love their RPGs, they're janky as f***, but they have heart and soul.

Relientk772d ago

Nintendo saw the Mortal Kombat 1 Switch port and were like, "Yeah, these guys are worth acquiring."

You can't make this crap up lol

Profchaos2d ago

Mortal Kombat 1 was never going to port well I'm sure they told wb it wasn't going to work but wb wants that sweet sweet 140 million install base

In the end wb approved the project cleared the milestones and allowed the product to release

SonOfOsiris2d ago

Yeah this guys ported MK11 which is great, Hogwarts Legacy which is great, and MK1 is now ok, play it every day
