"The project allegedly took over five years and consumed around the area of 15,000 hours."
Fixed.
Poor Bob thought acting like a 10 year old and locking himself in a room would warrant the respect and credibility Nintendo would be willing to give a developer.
Protip: If you want to make a game, make sure you have the desired SDK before starting.

He was making it as a homebrew title but then thought "this game is awesome" and contacted Nintendo to purchase a SDK, and here we are today.

I wonder how the mainstream media will spin this "boy locks himself in room playing game, dies!" or "boys video game addiction leads to near death experince".

How about, "boy locks himself in his room to make a game, then in a last ditch effort to gain attention fakes his death...afterward calling it a 'joke'"

" DON'T YOU DARE IGNORE ME, NINTENDO.
I DEMAND THE SDK- AND IF YOU DO NOT OBEY I WILL TAKE MY REVENGE, YOU MISERABLE FOOLS!
I WILL RUN YOUR PATHETIC LITTLE COMPANY INTO THE GROUND AND SPIT ON THE SMOLDERING REMAINS!
I WILL CRUSH YOU INTO DUST AND FLUSH AWAY THE ASHES LIKE ANY OTHER FILTH! ROTTING, PUTRID SEWAGE- THAT'S ALL YOU ARE!"

I remember this guy from like 4 years ago. He was making EVERYTHING in his game, sound, textures, models, music, everything. He seemed sane, but after 4 years, he went through the paperwork and stuff for nintendo, and they turned him down (after hes been working on it for the DS i believe). Ever since, he's been threatening crazy stuff, the demise of a company, "jokingly" claiming to want suicide. Desperate act to get attention? Maybe? I think him getting turned down made him go crazy though. He had 1 of those webcams that updated every few seconds in his room (since the start of the protest) and police ended up raiding his house after getting word that he might hurt himself in some way. Poor bastard.

They should just give him a kit. It's not like they're giving him some kind of super secret info/tools, since the DS is already hacked enough for anyone to do what they please with it. He just wants his code to be official. Sure, the way he's going about it now (especially the threats) may not be the best approach, but after that much work he's probably lost a bit of his sanity. Now he's probably building a bomb to wipe the NOA headquarters off the map lol.

Maybe he should just try xbox arcade or PSN instead of just giving up like that. Before he goes insane unless he already has.

Bob’s Game is Finally Out, and it’s What You’d Expect

Josh Griffiths writes: "We’ve written about Bob’s Game in the past, an infamous “joke” Kickstarter campaign that raised over $10,409. Fully funded in May 2014, it's success presumably horrified its creator, Bob. That would probably explain why he vanished without a trace for two years."

What a jackass developer. Backers should be upset.

Bob's Game: The Indie Game That Never Was or Will Be - IGS

It’s always admirable seeing the underdog stick it to the man, especially in a generation that’s so homogenized with the same games being remade and remastered every year. The video game industry needs more creativity and the indie scene is rea...

Bob's Game Kickstarter Resurfaces After Nearly 2 Years, And It's Not Good

Stephanie Smith writes: "2 years ago a Kickstarter for a puzzle-RPG called Bob's Game appeared. It managed to raise over $10,000 toward its development and was scheduled expected to be delivered at the end of last year. Well, I doubt it was expected, the Kickstarter was only updated once during the campaign, and since the Kickstarter itself didn't look too promising I would have assumed that he just ran off with the money."

garyanderson3046d ago

The only good thing about this situation is that he didn't raise more money.

secretcode3046d ago

Wasn't this the guy who screamed for years about Reggie trying to not support indie devs by not paying for his game?

Kreisen3045d ago

In the update he basically describes himself as homeless and using the cash he got from backers to try and get his life on track.

This is just plain weird.....
