Video Games Chronicles writes: "Miura is credited as a landscape artist on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom but, as reported by Automaton, he recently posted on X (formerly Twitter) to say he had quit the company because he felt it was only suitable for people who were abnormally gifted at game devlopment. Koichi Miura says he has no regrets working there, and that its employees are "wonderful"."
Under his leadership, many have lost their jobs and fewer games have made it out the door.
people should call for his resignation, he has literally flushed xbox down the toilet.
another 3 studios closed today, thats it now, get out
Phil needs to go. His time is over. When you oversee layoff after layoff after studio closure after studio closure, it's impossible to keep going forward and have people - employees and fans alike - trust you in any way.
Especially after HiFi Rush hit their metrics. I guess we know what to expect for Ninja Theory next once Hellblade is out, and Machine Games once Indiana's out & Todd Howard focuses back on ES6.
It's not just Phil (Phil is just the dumb kid taking the money) and Kotaku is NOT the voice to listen to as shi7 sites like Kotaku helped contribute to modern gaming toxicity and disinformation. Kotaku staff = Much like Phil, and yes need to go.
MS has been posting record profits, you think they give a crap about games and gamers? Think again.
What a prat.
People gave him and Matt Booty the benefit of the doubt for a few years due to the mess they inherited but a decade on and all they've done is ruin gaming for everyone.
The only success they've had is MS Flight Simulator which was developed by a third party anyway - and Forza Horizon which by pure coincidence went downhill in quality the second Playground were acquired (imo) and that's all I can think of. Everything else they've touched has been ruined.
It's genuinely staggering how either of these two guys are still there.
In a poignant announcement, Dutch indie developer Paladin Studios bid farewell after an impressive run spanning “almost 19 years.”
Considering the level of games they made, I'm surprised that more than 2 people worked there. 45 people (+ outsourcing) making mediocre mobile games, like cut the rope. I mean dude....Nintendo stooped to new lows in quality development and entertainment standards.
Nintendo made a significant move by issuing a DMCA notice to take down more than 8,500 clones of the popular Switch emulator, Yuzu.
The more they try to stop it, the more publicity it gets. The fact is that Yuzu will forever live on torrent and other sites. Nintendo is fighting an uphill battle.
There is nothing stopping these people from working on Yuzu clones and sharing them on torrent sites. Nintendo or anyone else cannot do shit about torrents or usenet.
lol Nintendo keep fighting this but it never ends. Why do they feel the need to persist? I guess they are in too deep now they have to
really?
cant say tthat about gamefreak lol.
but im guessing hes talking about Nintendo HQ.
ive heard this before tho, specifically about the Nintendo Tree people. how they are treated like celebrities there, even having their own floor and own keycard to it etc.
been a long time tho.
Nintendo EPD are notoriously known for being picky in their hiring, they want not only the best of the best, but also someone who really understand their vision
Nintendo wants quality I respect that tbh
Sounds like a bright future as a Xbox developer awaits him.
Strange because if he is a landscape artist for one of Nintendo's highest quality games then he wasn't average.
Maybe too stressful, many jobs can be that way and it always comes from the top. Most bosses have never worked on the ground floor, or done the graft, otherwise they'd know what it takes and how long it takes to do the jobs. And they don't.
There's too much of a timeframe for everything in life. All it's about is pushing the fake economy. Why do I say it's fake. Because it is in every country, they spend, then borrow borrow, then money suddenly goes missing, ask the pentagon was 5billion went, lol. They get audited and nothing happens. Meanwhile all the crap that happens gets pushed onto the mainstream ppl( you and me) to pick up the tab. Covid is a prime example of this. Nothing ever changes.
