Lol. Anything having to do with current generation games on a switch should give anyone a pause. Why would anyone want to buy any game this generation or last generation on a switch when it's available on way better hardware with better performance? Unless it's a Nintendo game I wouldn't recommend buying anything for the switch

@silver because when I was 13 or something, I didn't have the income to buy all the consoles and had to do with what my parents bought me. It's not that hard to think of. Get it on another platform if you have the means to, but that doesn't mean that switch players should end up with a bad (running game), it's up to the publisher and the devs to make the game run well on the platform they decide to release it on or not release it on that platform at all. Just like with cyberpunk, this is on the devs/publisher.

Exactly, it's quite frankly a miracle it runs at all on the Switch. If people are so unhappy with it, how about they pick up a Steam Deck? Or a Rog Ally? It's not like the Switch is the ONLY way to play it on the go.

Don’t sound so dense. They released the game and they charged $60. With that being said the game should work perfectly especially with the extra year of development. If they wanted an excuse to release an inferior version the price should have reflected it.

What were you guys on the switch expecting. The switch is inferior every way power wise. We're you expecting 4k 60fps? Sounds like it runs fairly good aside from some downgrades. Imo that's to be expected even with the extra year. Be mad all you want but direct that energy to Nintendo.

It does work perfectly the article states it runs smooth. The issue is the downgrade when comparing a switch to a ps5 so the idea that an extra year of dev work could somehow make the game look like a ps5 version on switch is illogical and unrealistic. The team managed to make smart concessions where required and got the open world running on switch which doesn't have a ton of games with the same open world design

When I did own a Switch OLED, I never once bought a Nintendo game. It's primarily made for anything anime related such as visual novels, JRPG'S, adventure / mystery titles and so forth. It's also an FPS machine as well. Those are the primary reasons for it.

I actually don’t mind simpler, largely indie titles on the platform that can run just fine on the Switch due to them not being very hardware-intensive, and some retro compilations are pretty great on Switch too. Anything where concessions have to be made, or I can expect the visuals or frame rate to take a hit though, and I’m out, since I have other systems that can run those games better.

Hot take, but I don’t even think it’s that great as a portable system, by virtue of even the smaller Lite being too big and bulky to fit in a pocket. The Switch is about versatility, not portability, but in being a jack of all trades, it’s a master of only one: tabletop mode, which is admittedly pretty neat. However, that advantage is only useful in certain circumstances.

Otherwise, Switch is a barely adequate console, and a barely adequate handheld rolled into one, where there’s no need to transfer saves because you can take the entire thing with you. It’s useful for some, for sure, but when I think a handheld, I think something that travels more easily and conveniently. It also gets more of a pass because it’s not as though there’s any real competitor to it in the handheld space, and even the Steam Deck, which goes after a different market, is also big like the Switch.

Yes. I remember i bought an offroad driving simulation on the switch a few years ago. Only when i started playing i realized the switch doesnt have analogue triggers. So there is only 100% gas or 0% gas, 100% brake or 0% brake. After that eye opener i only bought first party games ever since… cant believe I even bought the witcher before that… runs way better on my steam deck 😉

Basically what do they expect, Switch is hardware that is EOL. So it is either don't get it or get a severally downgraded version. Then you need to decide is that worth the price they are asking. Some how Nintendo can still work magic on their first party games but for 3rd party this late into the hardware life cycle you aren't going to get better games like most platforms.

I seriously doubt it fell short of public expectations, because we're years into the Switch's life and most already expect games not to look their best on the system. Game looks good to me, performance is what's more important as I played it on the Deck and that thing would never stay anywhere near 30. It seems overall it's exactly what you would expect on switch and the frame rate is good as well. Plus the added bonus that the game is actually physically on the hardware and not streamed people are most likely going to be pretty happy.

The Switch is amazing because its exclusives rule and it's an incredibly designed console. Not because you can play watered down versions of Doom or The Witcher or Batman, which was impressive 7 years ago but has long been beat by handheld PCs that simply scale down, not dilute, and by the growing popularity of remote play and streaming.

At what point are you just doing a disservice to the game by playing it in such a state.

I actually still like those ports and play them on commutes sure I could get a portable PC like a rog or steamdeck however like you said the switch is an amazing portable system I get a lot of battery life out of my OLED model and it just works I've had mixed experiences with steam hardware like the steam streaming unit which turned out to be painful to use having to start a game run back to my PC hit a button to accept a EULA or windows prompt go back the the couch and hope I can start playing turned me off playing PC games anywhere but a PC

What do you expect for a weaker handheld device on its last year with a game that was meant for more powerful hardware?

It was always going to be lesser and have issues. Maybe over time it gets better but it’s not easy to port games to weaker hardware it takes a lot of work.

The Switch's strength is in it's exclusive games, not multiplatform games. There should be no expectation to get the same level of quality on Switch hardware that PS, XB, and PC games have.

So to begin with pretty much all videos out there compare the ps5 version against the switch which is illogical and obviously an attempt to make the gap look far wider than when compared to a base PS4 or Xbox one console.

Yes there's huge downgrades in graphics yet the gameplay is smooth without huge fps issues.

I'm not sure if it's a sense of entitlement or something else but the reality is a current gen console is going to play a game far better than aging mobile hardware.

The port should instead be praised because 1 it exists and 2 it's actually high quality with smart concessions made where required it provides a way to play a game where say a family might choose a Nintendo platform for it's more family friendly library and not own a ps5 or series console and the kids may want to actually play this they now have a way to do so.

obviously if you have access to a PS4, ps5 Xbox the better choice is those systems but this is a logical port especially pre Xmas when the switch is still selling like crazy.

If this port makes you angry over the downgrades you're probably not the target audience

As a Switch owner, at this point, Switch owners should pretty much know what to expect from hardware that is less powerful than the original X1. It's great for the Nintendo games that we can't get anywhere else, but not so much for anything else if you are looking for great performance and visuals. I am hoping the next Nintendo console will at least be on par with the X1X minimum.

It's better than what I actually expected. Loading does suffer because ssd's are recommended for this game and the switch are stuck using sd cards.

Alot of comments here is narrow minded. Many people only have 1 console by choice or not. When the developers/publisher decide to release a game on a plattform, they should feel obligated to release a product to a certain quality standard. If they cant reach that, dont release it. But in this case, most likely, greed is motivator again, «lets release a HP thats half broken on switch since there is so many switch owners who love HP and will buy no matter what before knowing what quality it is».
So, instead of attacking the consumer and eachother, direct your «know it all» attitude towards the real enemy, the publisher/developer that shouldnt have done this, or upped their game.
