Super Mario Wonder takes No.1 spot from Spider-Man 2 | UK Boxed Charts

Super Mario Bros Wonder topped the UK boxed charts this week, pushing last week's No.1 Spider-Man 2 to second place.

Not surprised Mario is number one PS exclusives have extremely short legs and are only artificially lengthened by forced bundles.

1. A 70% drop in its second week is normal (Starfield dropped 87%)
2. Spider-Man games don't have short legs. This game will continue to sell until it reaches 10 - 20 million sales
3. This isn't counting digital sales, which are relatively higher on PlayStation compared to Switch

being PS5 only hurts the game sales wise, given how small the install base is. Let's see if Mario has a 70% drop next week to go along with your theory.

Which theory? Also, Mario is already in its second week and had a 55% drop, which is better than average.

@neonridr if they hurt the game sales it wouldn't be the fasting selling day one Sony game. The more avid gamers, the ones who buy games day one generally will have the new console.

Though I can't I can't find the 87% drop (physical copies) I believe it though. But Mortal Kombat took its spot as number one box sales but digitally (or overall) SF was number one most sold across the entire month of September. Beating out MK1.

But yeah, it was still a successful game despite that. As was Spider-Man 2 a success despite a 69% drop in its second week (which, again, is a normal percentage).

Thanks for the link. I agree it's a normal percentage plus just like you said it was only box sales and not physical. Nintendo fans still by more physical than PS and Xbox gamers so these numbers are to be expected.

Which means not to look into it too much. The differences in deltas week over week is 15%. Even without knowing that Spiderman is still in first, you can assume that both titles have sold about the same for their respective two week launches. This is something to celebrate.

@sparky, what does that have to do with anything. Mario Wonder is a single player game as well, what's your point. Lol. Everything sells the most at launch and then declines from there. Even if Wonder goes on to sell more than Spiderman so what?

Mario Wonder and Spiderman 2 are great titles I grabbed them both and I am heavily invested in Spiderman 2 right now. And I have played some Mario Wonder honestly both games are neck and neck in sales and Xmas is around the corner. Then sales might taper down after the holiday season but Sony has been doing one thing Nintendo won't do and that's allowing titles to come to PC. Once Sony pops that cork Spiderman 2's sales will go up again allowing PC gamers to enjoy Spiderman 2 on PC. Nintendo still locks their franchises to one machine limiting sales.

Nintendo doesn't need to officially allow their switch games to come to PC, they're already really easy to emulate and get better performance and visuals than native. Don't even need high end hardware, so it's accessible for most configurations nowadays.

2. PS/Xbox sales are way larger digitally than physically, compared to Nintnedo
3. Nintendo fans are the most supportive to their "own" games (Nintendo), but doesn't support Third Party that well.
4. Playstation users this year could buy huge titles like FFXVI, Spider-Man 2, Baldurs Gate 3, Spider-Man 2, Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 6, Dead Space Remake, Lies of P, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, Diablo 4, Armored Core 6, Phantom Liberty, Alan Wake 2, PSVR2 with lots of games, Mortal Kombat 1 and probably many more I've missed...
while the big games on Switch was:
Pikmin 4, Tears of the Kingdom, SMB.Wonder, Fire Emblem Engage and let's count Metroid Prime Remastered.

The amount of available top tier games for PS5/XSX players compared to Switch players is a joke.
Not that strange that Switch (Nintendo) games actually sell more whenever there is one to sell.

I got both, but spider-man has hardly been touched. Ive been playing wonder all last week and it truly is amazing.

I can tell it's gonna take a while to finish Spider-Man. I am one of the late comers to Elden Ring and that game is still consuming me.

I haven't even created a character in Starfield or Forza.

I put about an hour or two in Spider-Man and Alan Wake 2 but Elden Ring keeps pulling me back. It's so much fun.
