The 84% off special offer probably helped...

Sephiroushin210d ago

it was also a free weekend, i think that helped even more!

-Foxtrot210d ago

Details people are totally forgetting about because they want an "Underdog / redeemed" story to make articles out of

The game is still trash

Nitrowolf2210d ago (Edited 210d ago )

@Fox

The game has had free weekends prior, as well as sales. On top of it being over as of this story posting and the numbers are still up there, meaning they're retaining now

I'll say it's a better version of the game that was launched, but still the weakest BF game

The game is still trash I just played it had some of the worst AI and anti collision system ever the game is trash super trash characters getting stuck on buildings one got stuck getting down from the helicopter

SoLiD2007210d ago

It's not a real battlefield game, it's worse than anything.

UltimateOwnage210d ago

I thought that based on the Steam review bombing that happened, but honestly I picked it up and love it. It’s the first new game in the series I really enjoy since BattleField 4 and Bad Company 2.

Str8Chaos74209d ago

Same here. Having a lot of fun.

crazyCoconuts209d ago

I agree, all in all it's a good game. They've redeemed themselves.

Rynxie210d ago

I can't even play it. I downloaded the free psn PS5 version and it keeps telling me that it cannot connect to the servers when I try connecting online. I tried deleting and reinstalling, I tried both wired and wireless connection and nothing. I tried for months by the way.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Sephiroushin210d ago

if it was the free weekend then it already ended

Rynxie208d ago

No, it was the psn monthly free game.

boing1210d ago

And I will say, let ignorant people stay ignorant. There is nothing they can do to change their mind because that's how ignorant people operate.

HyperMoused210d ago

Its lost the heart of a battleield as id say its now call of battlfield, but its still pretty good, its as close to BF as you can get, the modern movement is good to.

Another? ANOTHER?

Is he honestly trying to make out like the last Battlefield was a huge success, not just as a game but as a live service game? I'm sure these guys live in their own echo chambers, they are so far removed from reality or they just like talking out of their arse trying to rewrite history.

Also why say such a tone deaf statement when you know the state of live service games at the minute and how many gamers feel about them. Bigging up the next BF game as live service does not give me any excitement or hype.

''is building ‘another tremendous LIE service’''

just_looken5d ago

This is nothing too new
https://www.eurogamer.net/e...

They had plans of a universe of live service games

Also these studios made 2042 there is no new massive team its the same team
https://www.eurogamer.net/t...

Well same team minus the seattle boys that were canned
https://gamerant.com/ea-bat...

This is all again same news different year but it seems very few remember what happened before covid.

Walalon5d ago

At least they put car freshner trees up their asses to think smelling their own farts smells good at this point to be so out of touch.

RaidenBlack6d ago

Just make another Battlefield 2 ... or BadCompany 3 ... EA

XiNatsuDragnel6d ago

Bad company 3 instead of live service bs

An Update on Battlefield 2042 and Welcoming Motive Studio to the Team

EA:

While we’ve enjoyed and are proud of creating these seasons of additional content for Battlefield 2042, it is now necessary for us to turn from the present to the future. What this ultimately means is that Season 7 will serve as the final season for Battlefield 2042. After Season 7 concludes, we will continue to support the game with new in-game challenges, events, modes, and of course, ongoing maintenance, but we are moving away from delivering official seasons.

Streamer Claims DICE Paid Over 60 Content Creators for Battlefield 2042 Feedback, Then Ignored It

Streamer Shroud says that DICE paid 60 to a hundred content creators to help develop Battlefield 2042, but ignored every single advice.

GoodGuy0948d ago

No wonder the game ended up the way it did
What they should've done was ask BF fans. Most general content creators typically go for the trend and the top creators stream games like LOL, fortnite, dota, gtaV, battle royale etc.

_SilverHawk_47d ago

A lot of times people want a game to be something else and I'd probably guess a lot of people wanted call of duty or a lot of it's features.

Bf2042 is amazing now but was not so much at launch. A lot of improvements made the game an amazing game with its own identity. I'm hoping the new battlefield game coming next year improves upon everything in bf2042 and is more akin to bf3 and bf4.

Gamingsince198147d ago

I want them to do a new bad company instead

DustMan47d ago

A ton of people have written the game off now. Which is unfortunate because I find it to be one of the best multiplayer shooters available now. I've been aware that a Battlefield game has not launched in a good condition since....I don't remember. So I never played at launch due to the horror stories, but it seems to have pulled a Battlefield 4 and really turned itself around. Good stuff. Love getting 4 kills on an apc with a well placed RPG, or Stinger to a loaded chopper lol. No other game has given me that kind of joy. lol.

Kornholic47d ago

To be fair, I would not listen to content creators/influencers either.

BISHOP-BRASIL47d ago

Look, I wouldn't pee on an influencer if they were on fire, but why pay for their feedback only to ignore it?

Kornholic47d ago

I don't know. Maybe they thought it was a good idea at first but eventually found out that it was best to ignore influencers' opinions?

jznrpg47d ago

I’ll give some advice and take money for it. You can use it or not use it just make sure to pay me

badboyz0947d ago

who would've thought🤷‍♀️

Yi-Long47d ago (Edited 47d ago )

Battlefield fans just want Battlefield to be Battlefield. Which means a focus on Conquest-mode (5/6 flags), some gorgeous and fun maps to play on, 4 balanced classes, and that's it.

The suits keep wanting to turn Battlefield into everything else BUT Battlefield, so first they wanted BF to be more like Call of Duty, so they copied a bunch of stuff from CoD. Then they wanted to take advantage of the Battle Royale stuff, so they went after that crowd. Then they saw the heroes stuff in Overwatch and so they brought in specialists. Etc.

Guys, we just want Battlefield. Not every games has to be everything to all people. Specialize in what makes (made) your series great, which is large(r) maps (appropriate size for the amount of players, which IMO should be 24-32 max, so not just big for bragging brights), integrating vehicle-combat, and just allowing the freedom and flow which made those matches in older Battlefield games so special at times.
