The Max Payne series is among my all-time favourites in gaming. A result of the era I miss so dearly. However, Remedy truly are a company that have continued to innovate throughout the many years they've been working in the gaming industry. Another great article, here.

ChristianReggieWait1198d ago

Agreed! Although the culmination of their thought process with episodic narrative was Quantum Break, Control is a streamlined product. Love these guys and girls.

zahdab1198d ago

Did not enjoy quantum break ... max payne 2 had way better writing

NeoGamer2321198d ago

To me, Remedy peaked with Max Payne and Alan Wake. Quantum Break and Control were not as good as the other two franchises.

FTLmaster1198d ago

100% agreed, Control is just a mere shadow of Alan Wake imho.

jBlakeeper1198d ago

Control is amazing IMO. It’s flashy, unique and the powers are awesome.

ChristianReggieWait1198d ago

💯 It's showing a matured Remedy for me. Pure, concentrated deep narrative action at its finest!

I liked it alot and didn't expect to. It's one if those 8/10 games, star wars fallen order and other flawed yet great games fit into. Excited for control 2.

Hmm for me if take these type of games over games like the last of us and halo. Just more fresh and unique

rdgneoz31197d ago

The story is unique, though the powers/gameplay when I first saw them reminded me of PSi-Ops - https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

The old Remedy was great I'll just say that. When I play control it feels like a mediocre game

FortWaba1198d ago

You seem like such a nice person. I wish the best for you, friend!

poppatron1198d ago

No way! That’s a shame.

I think I’m about half way through and genuinely loving it, I’ve got my eyes on the platinum and everything! For now at least, there isn’t a single element I’m not really enjoying.

The combat/abilities, the environments, the characters, the story, the general style, the sense of mystery and intrigue. It’s ticking all my boxes.

I’d toyed with the idea of getting it before but only now am playing it with psplus on the ps5. I never expected to be such a fan 😂

Rocketisleague1198d ago

I enjoyed if, not as tight as some shooters but pretty unique and some good ideas story wise and gameplay wise.

autobotdan1198d ago

Just as long as they don't make games with cheap final/end bosses like they did in Quantum Break, Remedy have made some great games. I didn't like the over cheap final boss of Quantum Break it took me a long time to beat it. But all their games have been fun

ChristianReggieWait1198d ago

Love their titles, always have a great time

autobotdan1198d ago

Yes I feel Quantum Break was probably the worst game they have ever made and even Quantum Break was a great memorable game i wanted to play a 2nd time immediately after. Remedy always do great stories and characters

Great studio, max payne 1 and 2 and some of my fave games ever and i just finisged control again for the second time on ps5 which is anither great game!

Cant wait to see what they are working on next, likely control 2 id say.

ChristianReggieWait1198d ago

I'd probably say it's a completely different idea. They only did Max Payne to as part of the agreement with Rockstar ❤️

Flawlessmic1198d ago

And thank god they did max payne 2 was sickkk!

Im totally down for a new IP from remedy though, in saying that due to them being a smaller studio and control kinda popping off id be suprised if they didnt go there again, either way ill be happy

Video Feature: Why Max Payne 3 Failed

Hey Poor Player says: "Why did Max Payne 3 fail? In this video feature I look at the various difference between Max Payne 3 and the previous games in the series for answers."

You could also say that is the point. Max Payne isn't technically Max Payne in the 3rd one, he just happened to get a job similar to what he had in his past because of his past. He had to go down a road which he was already broken from. Once again, Max Payne 3 was my least favorite of the 3 but I still liked it a lot.

Kyosuke_Sanada2735d ago

There is a lot of truth in this video and the intro, even though funny for the first few seconds, did cover an aspect that I never really thought about the previous Max Paynes. I do applaud the most recent one for its amazing gunplay and actually removing a pet peeve that has plagued tons of games before it, the dreaded "magnet back" that holds other weapons. Seeing small details like Max actually hold a long gun in one hand when unequipped are one of the many things I really did like about it but the most important part of the series was always it's stories and characters, aspects that the third installment felt very flat on.

I think another part of why Max Payne 3 failed was do to Rockstar's bait and switch. They announced GTA V and later after that did nothing but Max Payne 3 videos and articles pissing off fans and new comers alike.
