WorthPlaying Review - Exit DS

WorthPlaying writes: "Exit is a 2-D rescue puzzler that got its start on the PSP in 2006. Since then, it's been ported to the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live Arcade, and now it's making its debut on the DS in the form of Exit DS. Puzzlers and the DS usually go hand in hand, so does that creed hold true with this title?

Like the previous iterations, you'll play as the world-famous escape artist, Mr. Esc, known for rescuing victims (called companions) who are trapped in a variety of hazards such as burning buildings, flooded passageways and crumbling structures. It's up to Mr. Esc to find these survivors and lead them to safety in the form of 100 different challenges."

411mania: Exit DS Review

Exit DS is a pretty simple game with a simple premise but it's hard to master and get down to a science. That's pretty much the formula for any great puzzle game. It lends itself very well to the DS in its port over from the big boy consoles with very little difference or changes from the original.

A few things keep the game from being an instant classic or a big hit such as it's sound design and sometimes it feels like it has TOO many levels, but in the case with games of this type and especially portable games it's always better to have too much of a good thing than too little of it. Great in small doses, even better in large ones, Exit DS was a pretty solid game for consoles and shines brighter on portables.

Cubed3 : Exit DS Review

James Temperton writes "In order to move around the levels you have to use keys, axes, switches, ropes, ladders and all manner of other clever trickery. There's no doubt the puzzles are unique and challenging, but at times they are just a bit too devious. As we've said, this game is best enjoyed in small doses, but as the levels get harder, they require more and more of your time. Add to this the need for precise controls as the game gets harder and you'll be seeing an awful lot of Mr. Esc squished into the floor as he courageously and stupidly runs off another edge. Idiot.

Exit DS really excels in the looks department. Put simply, this game is shexy. All the levels are nicely designed, the whole feel of the game is really unique and striking and the music (when not drowned out by cries of help from assorted idiots) is pretty solid too. So in terms of presentation we really can't fault it. Just look at the screens if you don't believe us."
