Ah, smart move. Can't finish Starfield in two weeks lol.
So now it's a $11 rental for 6 weeks on PC...

😁 can't fool the almighty MS 🤮

Christopher291d ago

I'm surprised it's even still around.

Outside_ofthe_Box291d ago

It won't be once Acti deal becomes official.

wiz7191290d ago

Why wouldn’t it be ?? That actually would be a perfect time ..

theindiearmy290d ago

If you'll recall, they got rid of it entirely back in March. So really it's not changing from being 1 month to 14-days. It's changing from being non-existing to 14-days.

Elda290d ago

I just bought 3 months of GP ultimate for $29 on Play-Asia & got 1 month for free. A total of 4 months isn't bad for $29.

Destiny1080290d ago

its no longer 12 bucks a year

I mean that makes sense. If you can’t figure out you like the service in 2 weeks, that’s on you.

randomvoice290d ago

The trial for a month isn't meant for users to 'figure the service out'. It was meant to entice them to jump in so they can lock them in. Everyone knows exactly what they're getting with it. They needed it to be 30 days since so far the offerings didn't have major first party offerings. Now that the first big one is releasing, they want to stop people from getting a free gamepass sub, playing it for 30 days and then cancelling essentially meaning someone played the game for free.

CrimsonWing69290d ago

What's the point of a trial exactly? The offer is to "entice" them to try it, being in the service is where you "figure out" if it's for you and continue with a subscription.

No, everyone DOESN't know what they're getting with it, that's the point of trial for chrissakes. 2 weeks for a gaming service is more than adequate.

Are you upset because you can't game the system and pay $1 to fully play a game? That's a pretty petty reason to be upset. If playing Starfield is really the only reason you want to do the $1 trial, then just wait for the damn game to launch and you get 14 days with the game. If you enjoy the game and service, then what the hell? Pay for the subscription.

It's as simple as that. Yea, canceling the 30 days makes sense when it gets abused. Besides, 2 weeks with a game... that's enough time to figure out if you want to continue or not.

crazyCoconuts290d ago

There's definitely the intention of expecting people will forget to cancel even if they don't think it's worth it. That technique is as old as Reader's Digest.

randomvoice290d ago

@CrimsonWing69... The whole point of a trial is to get people to sign in and forget about it. They could afford a month before because people weren't cannibalizing their 1st party sales as they didn't have a big title. Now they have Starfield so of course they're trying to cut down on the window or else vast majority is going to create a new account, get a trial for 30 days and cancel getting the game for free.

CrimsonWing69289d ago

Lol, yea I know.

Basically I’m being told a trial isn’t for a customer to try a product for a limited time. It’s looney tunes in here sometimes. I did get a chuckle out of the comments though, so it’s not an entire sh*t show.

ModsDoBetter289d ago

Honestly, same old story.
They're a herd of hypocrites with zero consistency in their thought process.
