steam deck should be able to run this.

KillaJamm302d ago

Biggest surprise for me is it only needs a HDD, I'm pretty sure when it released they marketed it as only possible because of the NVMe SSD in the PS5?

phoenixwing302d ago (Edited 302d ago )

You're right but that was before 1.2 direct storage update software came to pc. Sony didn't lie technology just got improved afterward.

blackblades302d ago

We'll see the downside of it when DF does a video.

Mike Fitzgerald, core technology director at Insomniac Games

"there’s so much to peel back about the SSD and the I/O around it. We’re just scratching the surface of it"

purple101302d ago

Hmm yes HDD, The lowest column

Where it lists great smooth running, such as 720p and 30fps.

All columns with 60fps it says SSD

mkis007302d ago

literally the lowest settings at 720p and 30fps...it's not hard to imagine that they will have loading screens in a lot more places with an hdd.

anast302d ago

It's not out of the box. It needs a tech band-aid via 1.2 direct to run it.

Good-Smurf302d ago

They didn't lied there was no Direct Storage 1.2 when they were developing the game and designing the console.
5200 RPM HDD on PS4 would make the game felt very gimped and unimpressive.

Ok so you won't need an SSD. (Its only recommended, not required) But youl need at least £500 worth of graphics card. Sheesh

phoenixwing302d ago (Edited 302d ago )

My 2070 super i7 9700f computer is old hat these days. If you look up the requirements for that something aveum fps rpg the requirements are even worse lol

All I can say is thank goodness baldurs gate 3 will run well on my PC. That's all I really need PC wise

mkis007302d ago (Edited 302d ago )

you need an ssd for anything other than low settings. 720p and 30fps... that is a lot to lose just to use an hdd.

Number1TailzFan302d ago

Graphics cards are literally the only component which are stupidly priced these days, just about everything else PC wise is well priced for the performance you get, as for GPUs I think spending just over a grand on a 4080 is stupid when a 4090 is quite a lot faster and "only" maybe £200-£300 or so more.

Good-Smurf302d ago

This only confirms the amazing value PS5 brings and even better at $300 used it's a steal, makes my high end gaming laptop felt insanely overpriced and inefficient at running games at 1440p/4K with consistent performance.

mkis007302d ago

it will be interesting to see how the lowest spec runs without the ssd...pretty much assumed it would need high ram and or some form of ssd. the fact that it runs at all on an hdd is curious...but maybe not depending on cutbacks and loads.

Eonjay302d ago

So the work around is requiring a very decent GPU paired with Direct Storage.

mkis007302d ago

yes, but how it runs on paper and how it actually runs will be the proof that it can be done. What cutbacks are required exactly.

Eonjay302d ago

Most likely the biggest cut will be resolution.

anast302d ago

I heard it runs on the NES...

Honestly, If I worked presently for Microsoft's gaming division, I would update my CV and look for work elsewhere...

Simon_the_sorcerer2d ago

I would do the same, because MS will most likely pull-off more stunts like this in the near future...

"Now"?

How about "ever"?

They closed so many of their dev teams during the second half of the Xbox 360 era. Have we forgotten history so quickly?

Dummy fake journalists acting so surprised over these recent closures, when this is something that's been going on for well over a decade now with MS.
