tick tock tick tock, we'll soon see

Yeah why don't we just wait and see. Personally Star Citizen seems like a overgrown tech demo that keeps sucking money to me but hey if SC fans don't mind, then good for them. As for Starfield it's a very different game with very different goals, let us play it before anointing it as a "generational game" or calling for its doom because its not like game A, B, C, D, and E.

The janky graphics will not do a lot of the people that like Star Citizen. In fact, there are threads about Star Citizen fans complaining how the graphics are looking old already. Imagine they fire up a good 'ol Bethesda clunker.

Star Citizen looks "old"? Yea, Star Citizen's scope is too vast for its own good ... but looking dated? Like, really?

and yes, Bethesda RPGs never win awards for their graphics at launch, due their scope
(except Oblivion of course back in 2006, which launched with some cutting-edge visual tech back then on PC, only its jarring facial expression animation was its weakpoint),
but I'll say Starfield looks fairly decent and competitive, as compared to how Skyrim looked in 2011 and Fallout 4 in 2015.
Starfield is not looking jaw dropping for 2023 but not that hideous either.
^ this is an unbiased observation, mind you. Not hailing Starfield as revolutionary or anything.

There are threads. It took me two seconds to find them. I can't help you anymore than I already have.

Star Citizen is a con job that will never be relesed. I mean that was obvious like 10 years ago. It should not mentioned along with actual games.

Star Citizen crowdfunding passes $700 million

Cloud Imperium Games' sci-fi space sim and RPG Star Citizen has passed another major crowdfunding milestone: $700 million. The latest $100 million has been raised in less than a year as well.

LG_Fox_Brazil1d 6h ago

3 more years and we'll probably see it reach the billion mark. Question is, will it be fully released by then?

JunonZanon1d 2h ago

That kinda defeats its point, I think.

PrinceOfAnger1d 3h ago

I am curious to see what will they show this year on october.. a new gameplay trailer or maybe a release date?

Tankbusta401d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

I get initially backing this....but who is still giving these guys money?

badz1498h ago

I think it's safe to assume that this project is a money laundering pit

blacktiger4h ago

got_dam22h ago

I can't believe this is still going on. Just don't even know what to say.

I feel like the second big update that releases late this year will do just that. Part of the story expansion is also new means of transportation on planets.

P_Bomb5d ago

A good DLC could turn some heads. The Destiny games got momentum that way too.

piher5d ago

What player spike?

I checked steamcharts through the link in the article and it went from 8,000 to 11.500, so yea 20% but when the game peaked at 330,000 It's safe to say that the actual effect of this update was negligible.

LostPotato4d ago

Doubt it'll ever get redemption. As many developers have said in various interviews it's beyond saving.

Just release the mod tools and expansion and move on.

Profchaos4d ago

Cyberpunk 2077 had some strong bones i disliked it on launch because I could see the potential I could see the strengths of what they wanted to achieve but it wasn't done yet

They didn't get the memo the game is dead and the Bethesdabots only want magic and fantasy.

Boy_the_CowRoy4d ago

Starfield fans? The game only has 9 thousand current players, worldwide! As a company you cannot waste time on creating "Major features", it is simply not profitable. Just move on.
