From what I saw on Reddit these skins are not designed by Insomniac artists but from content creators, which is why they are exclusive. They likely don't want to make them available for everyone since they would likely have to pay royalties and probably don't match their art design.

The collectors edition is worse, no physical disc, art book, soundtrack, another mini replica or some nice trinket. Not to mention the steelbook being locked into an expensive edition that doesn’t even have a disc to put it in.

I do find it hilarious it went up for preorder 8 hours ago now and they haven’t sold out (in the UK anyway).

The issue is that the deluxe edition is *digital only*. Standard has a physical, and everything past it ranges from "fuck you if you like physical" to "seriously, fuck you if you like physical".

So as a physical buyer, I get the gift of having to make a separate transaction to get to the same amount of content that could have been provided by, I dunno, just making a proper physical deluxe edition. These are items that are made to incentivize a digital deluxe purchase.

You can either buy the physical version and then separately buy a cheaper upgrade that just gives you the deluxe items, which I assume in total cost add up to the amount of the actual digital deluxe version. (Physical + Diigital Deluxe Upgrade = price of just the digital deluxe version)

Or you can buy the digital deluxe version.

I don’t know what you’re going on about. You get your physical version and can get the deluxe items. What does it matter that the digital deluxe is, uh, digital? You can have your physical and get the items without the need to just buy the full digital deluxe version for chrissakes.

They’re giving you your cake and letting you eat it. I have no issues with this and I’ll support what I want. I like the convenience of digital games and I want to give the developers some extra money to get these costumes. Therefore, I’m buying the digital deluxe and I’m extremely happy with that purchasing decision.

We've discussed this before. The ps5 exclusives collectors editions have a digital code because there is a disc drive-less version of the ps5 and producing two collectores editions one for people with disc drives and one for people without would be silly. Apart from anything people with a disc drive could buy either but people without could only buy one making it unfair because of the limited nature of the collectors editions.

I know. It's a deluxe edition that costs more than the base version, it should have its own content. The issue people are having, I believe, is that there isn't a physical deluxe edition, and still the collector's edition only having a digital game. The steelcase they're making for the collector's edition would've made for a great physical deluxe edition!

What would be unreasonable though is if there's no option to upgrade your game to the deluxe edition, but there is no precedent for such an omission.

Those suits look like rubbish anyways so i wont be missing much. Id much rather spend extra bucks on the upcoming DLCS . they made 3 of them the last time which were pretty good additions to the final game. 1st dlc Mobius x blade ,
2nd Sandman and hydroman and the last one Carnage . id be satisfied lol . A early nod to the upcoming wolverine game in one of the DLCs would be really sick.

I regret selling my PS5 specifically for Insomniac titles but reading the comments here makes me quite happy that I'll be able to bypass this nonsense and play a complete edition with a year of patches in 2024/5 on PC...

Not surprised, Sony have been nickel and diming customers since the start of the PS5 gen, they've just been blind to it.

Paid next gen upgrades, poor microtransactions and now paid cosmetic DLC in their single player titles, focus on live service games in the next few years. I complain because I want the PS4 Sony back, not because I prefer Xbox. This shit is getting out of control and it's the people who defend them that are enabling it.

I'm sorry but what? I've played all their exclusives I haven't come accross a anything I've had to pay microtransactions for.... also it's some skins specially commissioned and designed for inclusion in the deluxe edition it's nothing really. They aren't marvel spiderman skins from the comics etc- they will all still be in the game and unlockable. They don't have gameplay abilities etc tiee to them either. Totally optional extra. Paid upgrades would be shitty except they were charging 10-20 quid less for last gen versions despite them being oart of same dev cycle and thus dev costs so actually its perfectly reasonable. Games released in the launch window which basically ended with horizon forbidden west all had free upgrades. Alot of companies have specific cross gen bundles you have to purchase to get their games on both gens and generally cost more than the current gen only or last gen only options. So it's certainly a better approach than that.

In game progression is the best approach of course, but I can't really be bothered by this since everyone acquires then the same way —paying more for it. Allowing them to be unlocked would probably piss off DDE customers.
