NetherRealm Studios debuted some slick Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay at Summer Game Fest, but the new iterations of key characters haven’t won me over, yet.

Mortal Kombat 1 has made a variety of changes to the franchise, and the game's new approach to Fatalities is an interesting divergence.
Despite having creative ideas, NetherRealm Studios can't properly execute them to incorporate a fun progression-based single-player mode.
the new timeline is the best thing that could have happened. literally every MK game before this has been the same or heading the same direction story wise. this new timeline is a much needed breather. the scorpion and subzero blood brotherhood is a very interesting dynamic and raiden being a mortal who kang recruits is also interesting.
Then play MK Onslaught when it launches instead. It uses the MK11 character iterations and is based on the previous timelines.
How about the gameplay? Because that looked great to me.
You already know if you're gonna buy the new MK. This is just pedantry.
