Microsoft confirms MGS3 & other games featured in Playstation Showcase are coming to Xbox

Microsoft tweeted the list of 1st & 3rd party games from PlayStation Showcase, that are also coming to Xbox.

-Foxtrot339d ago

Really? Do they really want to go down the exclusive path...

Microsoft feels it gets one little win and they start throwing digs like they've been itching to do it.

Sonic1881339d ago (Edited 339d ago )

So Phantom Blade isn't exclusive? I think that game is an exclusive or at least a time exclusive

RpgSama339d ago

LOL, everybody kind of knew this, who thought that AC Mirage, the EA game, Alan Wake or Marathon were going to be exclusives?

I do not get these people, if Sony grabs them all as exclusives then that's bad and anti-consumer, but if they are also coming to Xbox then it's a loss for Sony, LOL, you just cannot win with some people.

Army_of_Darkness338d ago

There was nothing vocally or written during that showcase that implied any of those games to be a Sony console exclusive, so I'm not sure why MS had the need to point out the obvious??

tbagmonster338d ago

army, actual they all just said ps5 during the breifinf, so ms decided to remind people

darthv72338d ago

I saw this list on Twitter yesterday. It tells me there are 12 games they wont have to show to fill time.

Focus more on the other stuff they got planned.

LOL, talk about reaching for MS, what a terrible way to count yourself in the conversation.

Godmars290339d ago (Edited 339d ago )

Comes off as petty really. Especially considering MS bought several for multis.

Also didn't think for a second AW2 wasn't going to the Xbox.

itsmebryan338d ago

Sometimes these showcases make games seem like exclusives. They are just stating facts why is thar petty? Did you know all of the games Xbox showed were coming to Xbox?

specialguest338d ago

It's business and competition. Of course MS should let their customers know that those games will also be available on Xbox, and the timing during this showcase is the perfect time. Do you think pride to not go down that road matters in terms of sales? F**k no! Strike while the opportunity is there. Who gives a f**k if it's petty

Godmars290338d ago

@specialguest:
"Who gives a f**k if it's petty"

Would have hoped, a console maker who pretty much has to be shamed into making games, and even then has to buy 3rd party studios to have anything of note.

neutralgamer1992339d ago

It’s ok man these clarifications are more for casuals. All companies show 3rd party games but we don’t expect to see PlayStation logo during the reveal of a 3rd party game at Xbox show

What I want more is gameplay. Way too many games showed absolutely nothing but a damn logo

ModsDoBetter339d ago

To be fair, I did notice during the PS Showcase that afterwards they only showed “PS5” or “PS4 PS5 PC” at the bottom so I did actually have to do a quick Google search to see what titles were coming to other platforms.

I’m not sure if Microsoft show other platforms their games are coming to following the trailer but it did seem a bit strange.

Shane Kim338d ago

It's always like this. They never show their competitors logo.

FinalFantasyFanatic338d ago

I literally watch Nintendo directs to google which games are coming to Steam, lol, I wouldn't be surprised if others did this to other shows to see which games are coming to their console of choice.

GhostScholar339d ago

It was actually a good move strategy wise whether you like Xbox or not. It takes what was already a sub par Sony showcase and makes it even worse because pretty much every game Sony showed is coming to Xbox other than ff16, Spider-Man, and phantom blade. Now Microsoft can show games that aren’t coming to Sony. If you know anything about sales and advertising you can’t deny this was a good move by Microsoft. They don’t have to waste time showing any of those games at their own showcase and can focus on the stuff that is exclusive. Now that being said theyre still never catching Sony and we all know that.

ravens52338d ago

Microsoft will show 3rd party multiplat games as well. They have at all their past big showcases.

ifinitygamer338d ago

@Army_of_Darkness They point these things out for folks who aren’t on N4G and other news sites all the time. There are many many more casual gamers than there are folks on here, so the messaging gets muddy real quick. People often think something gets announced at a showcase and that means it’s exclusive, so Microsoft needs to get ahead of it to show that’s not quite how it works.

Christopher338d ago

This is peak petty and even worse if any of those show up at their event on June 11th.

Zeref338d ago

Nonsense.

This was a move to clarify that these games are multiplats to casuals.

It was a great move. Especially since they did it so fast after the showcase.

Zeref338d ago (Edited 338d ago )

They are just stating facts.
They got ahead of the potential narrative that some of these games are exclusive.

Especially MGS(a former Playstation only franchise) and Marathon(a Sony 1st party studio) , a lot of people might have thought those were exclusive.

It was a great move and cleared the air quickly.

You only see it as a dig because you're insecure and your feelings got hurt.

Looks like phantom blade is exclusive Good to see especially with Ghost of tusuhima Doing good

"Looks like phantom blade is exclusive"

This comment won't age well....

Sonic1881339d ago

It's a PC and PS5 console exclusive. Just look it up

VenomUK338d ago

What you got straight after the showcase was the Xbox Twitter account making clear that many of the games shown for PS5 will also be available on Xbox. Fine, that's the social media account doing its job and pacifying its user base and persons considering buying a PS5 to play these games.

However, the worst part is that head of Xbox PHIL SPENCER retweeted this which smacks of desperation.
https://twitter.com/Xbox/st...
His business philosophy is to take games away from other player bases and then takes delight when the competition reveals third party multiplatform games. There is a dissonance here because it then puts more pressure on Sony to get third party exclusives so it actually lessons the chance of multiplatform games being released.

GotGame818338d ago

It's also coming to PC. So it isn't an exclusive per say. It won't be on Xbox. It looks great!

Rimeskeem339d ago

Aren't the devs supposed to confirm this?

339d ago
Godmars290339d ago

Have they ever?

Most keep their mouths shut for a year.

Crows90339d ago

Not at all.
They dont need to. The only time devs and others stay quiet is when theres exclusivity. Sony went first and therefore many of the 3rd party will be shown first by their showcase. Maybe that was their strategy. I dont like it at all.

Xbox has...like the biggest ever advantage here. If they screw up...words cant describe the situation at xbox.

tbagmonster338d ago

they will screw up, they always do

porkChop338d ago

Usually the devs can't for a certain period of time. It's due to Sony having exclusive marketing rights.

Look at how D2 Is being egregiously over-monetized & tell yourself this won't be like that 😉

Make a proper fleshed out single player Marathon with a multiplayer component. That will get the best out of it.

‘the team is looking to implement native 4k resolution for all titles featured in the collection via a free update sometime in the future.’ Good, this is what I’ve been waiting for. It should’ve been done for launch but hopefully Konami now understands their need to respect the original games. Maybe they will do a Halo:MCC and effectively rebuild the games into a more unified whole.

just_looken39d ago

They removed scenes form the story to fit a modern audience the ape escape Easter egg from mg3 is gone the skater deal from mgs2 to my knowledge is also gone.

I would like them to remove these trash versions as the ps3 hd collection has more content better visuals. Heck duckstaion is the best version of mgs1 still that is a fan emulator

The fans have been doing better work than konami for years now

I mean ign made a video on how to fix this collection with mods

Kept you waiting, huh?

RaidenBlack38d ago

Hoping for a fall-2024 release

Chocoburger39d ago

The menu screen? Wow, way to go, Konami! 🙄

RaidenBlack38d ago

"According to Okamura, following Metal Gear Solid Delta, the decision to work on full-fledged remakes with new features and visuals will be evaluated on a game-by-game basis.
He further mentioned that the development team will have a major video presentation happening sometime soon, where it will reveal some bigger announcements regarding the franchise’s future."

Chocoburger38d ago

I'd like to see a reboot for the franchise, a fresh start, not clinging onto the past with the same story and characters. But I don't have any faith in Konami to do it right. I'd like to be wrong, though!

Maybe they could do both like CAPCOM has done with Resident Evil. They're doing remakes and new games simultaneously.
