Tears of the Kingdom absolutely needs multiplayer

With the sheer amount of creation going on, and a vast world to explore, surely this is a world to be enjoyed with friends

Personally, I think these 'Gundam' things could be a lot of fun. Not so much battles, rather just using them to explore the world.

Flawlessmic378d ago

It absolutely does not need multilayer!!

Yeesh these people wanna ruin everything that sacred.

Tal169378d ago

Surely co-op would be absolutely incredible in this game

Flawlessmic378d ago

No thanks, plenty of multi co op games out there for people to play, that's were games are heading, leave the classics alone, I am having a ball exploring hyrule all by myself and find all its secrets by myself.

senorfartcushion378d ago (Edited 378d ago )

This is every half-assed PC game made solely to be streamed on Twitch and nothing else.

They’re not even games. They’re stream-bait.

adamwparker378d ago

Go play Genshin Impact if you want multiplayer, lol

Jin_Sakai378d ago

How would Multiplayer ruin your single player experience?

Flawlessmic378d ago

Your assuming they don't make certain changes for multilayer, or whether the game would be same with multiplayer.

No thank you, there's enough crappy co op/ live service games for you people, don't need or want that any near zelda or any other great single player games.

Go play red fall or something lol

JEECE378d ago

He is assuming that when people say "add multiplayer," that they don't just mean keeping the game exactly the same otherwise but allowing a second player to drop in your game. He assumes "multiplayer" automatically entails live service elements/progression systems/microtransactions, etc.

So in other words he isn't actually addressing the hypothetical that people actually want, he's intentionally misinterpreting what people are asking for and criticizing that.

VincentVanBro378d ago

@JEECE incorrect, sorry. He's looking at games that have included or attempted to include multiplayer in the past, and how they tried to balance somewhat clashing goals of supporting both single and multi player gameplay without sacrificing the quality of either. In the end, a single player game produced entirely with a focus on and budget for single-player gameplay design is always going to be a better single-player game than that same game with a % of its budget and production dedicated to multiplayer design, netcode, etc. Does that make sense?

Vanfernal378d ago (Edited 378d ago )

Multiplayer would be optional... It wouldn't affect the way you prefer to play at all...

-Foxtrot378d ago

Just because something is optional means jack shit when it's all about actual development

I bet you any money that some of the new stuff in this game would not be in it, but kept for DLC because they would have been too busy trying to figure about co-op during the main development run.

Adding co-op, especially to a big world, is not an easy task, it changes everything.

Vanfernal378d ago

@Foxtrot

You're talking in hypotheticals. All I'm saying and this is in general, not specific to TOTK is that if there was a multiplayer mode, it doesn't affect the single player experience. But is an option for those who like it. Now let's talk hypotheticals. If they added a MP mode as dlc how would that ruin the "sacredness" of the game and the single player experience. Hint: it wouldn't.

VincentVanBro378d ago

In the end, a single player game produced entirely with a focus on and budget for single-player gameplay design is always going to be a better single-player game than that same game with a % of its budget and production dedicated to multiplayer design, netcode, etc. Does that make sense?

Vanfernal378d ago

@Count-Zero No one is debating that lol. And the game is already published. The article is saying "it'd be cool if there was multiplayer in this game". Then people for some reason are debating that if they allocated a percentage of the budget of TOTK to mp... It would harm the single player experience... In the past. Let me reiterate. The game is out. It's playable. People are playing it right now. A multiplayer mode like this article is discussing would not take away absolutely anything from that and people not interested in playing it wouldn't be affected at all. No one is arguing that it should've been designed with multiplayer in mind to begin with.

Tldr. The article is saying it'd be cool to have mp. Somehow that would ruin the single player experience for people who would not even partake in this mode.

It doesn't need multiplayer. I could understand if you wanted co-op to explore the world with your friends but PVP doesn't suit the game.

Tal169378d ago

Yeah, the Gundam stuff I'm not a fan of lol But the co-op stuff would be amazing. Maybe some sort of PVE battle arena could work?

VincentVanBro378d ago

Nah no thanks. I'm glad they focused their entire development budget on single-player features.
