Xbox Seagate Storage Expansion Card is now available starting at a lower price

Xbox has announced that its Seagate storage expansion cards now available starting at a lower price.

Vits395d ago

The new prices:

512GB: $89.99 (from $139.99)
1TB: $149.99 (from $219.99)
2TB: $279.99 (from $399.99)

Prices are now in-line with most consumer-grade M.2 2230 Gen 4 Nvme.

Still much pricier than the M.2 2280 that the PS5 and most PCs use though.

PS5 WD_BLACK 2TB SN850X

PS5 1TB: $94.99……..XSX $149.99
PS5 2TB: $169.99……XSX $289.99

Still a huge difference in price.

Vits395d ago

Yeah, 2280 solutions will always be cheaper. That is how it goes in the consumer market as well.
But in comparison to other 2230 options, the new prices of the expansion cards make a lot more sense.

Computersaysno394d ago

The SN850X is also kind of overkill for PS5 as well.

Any of the masses of models the tier below comfortably meet PS5 requirements and cost even less.

Rdeal394d ago

is that PS5 drive external at that price can i just plug it into any PS5?

one2thr394d ago

@Rdeal

Pretty much yeah, takes less than 2mins to install.

Profchaos394d ago

I'd personally look for a sn850 over the 850x you'll get a comparable drive cheaper with larger capacity. Or the 980 pro

Lexreborn2394d ago

The price for a custom shell is crazy… really want us to believe that case is 60-100 dollars more

Exactly the same price here for ps5 expansion compatible ssd compared to series x. Around 150e both.

meanmallard394d ago (Edited 394d ago )

Xbox prices are double what you can get a PS5 SSD for.

You can find the Crucial P5 Plus which is 6600/Mbs for $57 - $79 - $130 regularly. (6600 is the max speed you can get on PS5 and still more than twice as fast as xbox)

Even though this is "on sale" it's been this price for months.

It's a hell of a lot better than they were at launch. How funny though. We had a leak a month ago about new Western Digital expansion cards and suddenly Seagate wants to drop the price.

I wish Microsoft would allow us to plug in multiple expansion cards at the same time

porkChop394d ago

Hmm. There's only one slot. Maybe a 90-degree adapter that could hold 2 expansion cards?

neutralgamer1992394d ago

I agree because I am out of the space constantly

coolbeans394d ago

Either that or roll out bigger expansion cards at a faster rate. It's ridiculous.

neutralgamer1992394d ago

Honestly would love a 4TB expansion card for a decent price or ability to insert multiple

NotoriousWhiz393d ago

The expansion cards are plug and play. If you want to play a game on a different card, you can just remove the one card and insert the other. You don't even have to turn off the console.

neutralgamer1992393d ago

Never thought about it like that. Now I am curious

anast394d ago

I heard it comes with its own lawyer...

Profchaos394d ago

Key takeaway it's great to have a price drop finally but it's still more expensive than market value for equivalent drives.

They need to open it up to more third parties to build these cards to drive prices down

The Status of Every PlayStation Franchise

Sony owns a fair few iconic franchises - many dating right back to the original PlayStation. But while we’re pretty familiar with the likes of ongoing series such as God of War, Horizon, and Gran Turismo, there are plenty of PlayStation franchises that haven’t seen the light of day in a long time. So in this video, we’re going to be taking a look at the status of PlayStation’s many IPs, and checking in on when we last heard from them.

Status in one word:

Underutilized.

The end.

anast21h ago

Which ones should they utilize more?

BehindTheRows20h ago

Indeed. We hear this “underutilized” talk as if every old franchise should have a comeback or reboot.

I_am_Batman19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

When new IPs start looking like Concord, you can't blame people for wanting another Resistance or Killzone instead.

anast19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

J&D and Resistance are good ones. As much as I love these, though, I'm not sure they would payoff without an enormous marketing push. Younger gamers today do not have taste and the older gamers that would appreciate these might not be enough. But yeah, I would day 1 Resistance.

Well that’s just the consequence of consistently producing new IPs isn’t it. Not all studios can be or want to be like polyphony digital who made gran turismo all the time.

Abear2119h ago

Here lies The Infamous Series; once a shining beacon of free flying, lighting bolt sniping, and wire riding amazing gameplay, it has been laid to rest and be forgotten for what seems like forever despite being loved by millions. Plot next to Wipeout across from NBA Jam.

Lightning7716h ago

Still baffling they cancelled Twisted Metal, Factions 2 and Spider-Man Multiverse LS game but thought Concord looked good enough.

Chocoburger15h ago

Ape Escape, Parappa / Lammy, Gravity Rush, good times. Always hoping for them to make a return, or at least similar type games, such as the newly-announced Astro Bot, but one game isn't enough. Bring back the joyfulness of the 90's era of gaming.
