Star Wars Jedi Survivor can use up to 20GB of VRAM

As the Star Wars Jedi Survivor release time comes closer more and more information on its performance has been coming out.

Oh wow that's a lot of Ram use ngl

It's not optimized well on PC. The first game was optimized well. Hopefully a launch day patch will fix these optimization problems.

I don't remember any recent well optimised games on release even with patch
beside Atomic Heart

The diablo 4 beta was using around 21gb for me too

that's just ridiculous and a optimization mess , we had for years games in PC running fine with GPUs with 6 GB or even less, but now in just a few months some PC games are using or need 10 GB and now this?, is not even a huge of a jump visually from the first one, and still Cal runs like it has something stuck between his .... ok moving on. lol

It's all about textures, that's all. The required amount is 8GB of VRAM to run it. You only need more if you want higher textures.

Well, devs being lazy at the beginning of a gen is nothing new.
But boy are they trying this time around.

hey, looks like AMD was right after all.

What was it that they said? All I know is that Nvidia have been skimpy with their 4000 series, and anything with decent vram is not worth the money -> 4070 12GB.

The 4090 is the only card that's a big upgrade over the higher end 3000 series. 3080 was close to the 3090 and not stupidly expensive.

4000 series is a bust and I'm glad Nvidia are having trouble shifting cards. Hopefully they'll see sense with the 5000 series or a 4000 series refresh.

AMD has been talking about VRAM amounts since the 7xxx series. Even the 7900xt has 20gb vram. that said, the recommended specs for this particular game is:
Graphics card (GPU): 8GB VRAM, RTX 2070 or RX 6700 XT.
and this is "recommended", the minimum is a lot less. so its likely just allocating what it can with the hardware it has available or its a dev thing and either way i would not sweat it.

Obviously a major optimisation issue, probably a memory leak or driver issue.
