Haha, IKR? But honestly, I don't always think it's down to realism. Some games in VR (I'm thinking of Dreadhalls on PSVR1!) look like crap, but the sound design and atmosphere is there in spades and it hits just as hard!

Even flat shooters are starting to pale by comparison to VR now. The gunplay in RE8 is way better than expected, Pavlov is great for gun nuts and Sierra Squad is right around the corner for balls-out, COD campaign-style fun.

it'll still have to make some compromises most likely. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised that the level of realism seen in the trailers will hold up on consoles, but I have my doubts.

This is my idea for a FPS game like 10 years ago. You dont always hold your gun right to your face all the time unless in engaged mode, when you shoot you have to raise your gun and aim to shoot, the recoil, the movement... but please remove the lens distortion, it looks like headaches

I agree and this is where VR comes in. It just feels less forced in the traditional gaming sense and way more natural, instinctive and immersive.

I commend this dev for doing something unique but a lot of people are setting their expectations too high for this one. The game’s main goal is to mimic body cam footage and it only looks realistic in the way low-res cam footage looks realistic. Its a really cool trick, but everyone should keep that in mind. Dont expect high-res textures.

It’s not going to play like many people are expecting it to either. There will most likely be a hefty dose of auto aim given the POV is from the avatar’s chest. If you watch the videos the player never aims down sights.

That said, i still want to try it, but its definitely looking like somewhat of a novelty game.

nobody aims down sights in non-VR FPS games either, they use a reticle.
