“Resident Evil 4 Remake certainly is the best of all three existing remakes to date.”

There are four RE remakes to date

blackblades430d ago

? Really RE2, RE3, RE4 whats the 4th one

cluclap430d ago

Resident evil 1 was remade for the GameCube over 20 years ago

blackblades430d ago

Oh guess that's why they started with RE2. Thanks for the info

cammers1995430d ago (Edited 430d ago )

Resident Evil 2002 is a remake of the 1996 game.

RE 2002, RE2 remake, re3 remake and re4 remake are the four remakes.
Technically, people consider RE Deadly Silence as a remake and not a remaster because capcom did rebuild the 3D models in the game, rerender the pre rendered backgrounds, redo the sounds and music, and changed all the menus for the DS. Literally everything about deadly silence was rebuilt so I’d say it’s a remake too.

@ black

The success of the ‘15 remaster of the ‘02 RE1 remake is the entire reason we even have these modern day RE2-RE4 remakes

cammers1995430d ago

Idk about that. Yes it was successful, but the remasters of 2002 RE and zero were mostly successors to the code Veronica, 4, and chronicles remasters.
Anyways re2 even before the remaster of RE 2002 people were begging for a remake for years even back shortly after 2002 came out people were demanding re2 and 3 be remade the same way for GameCube. Id say even had they not remastered 2002 they’d still have remade re2.

PhoenixUp430d ago

Yeah there were prior HD RE remasters. However RE1 02’s remaster was their most successful with it breaking sales records on PSN

A few months after that in 2015 Capcom greenlit the RE2 remake along with consideration for a RE3 remake

https://www.gamespot.com/ar...

RE2 would’ve been remade for GameCube like RE1 was, but Shinji Mikami wanted to shift resources and focus to RE4 instead. Now that RE4 itself finally has a remake, it’s like we’ve come full characters circle in so many ways.

Gatsu430d ago

"Latest remakes"
Meaning the latest ones starting with RE2.

cammers1995430d ago (Edited 430d ago )

Resident evil code Veronica next please, for the love of god. Code Veronica had the BEST atmosphere of any resident evil game after 4. Code Veronica is the GOAT.

The series needs its best games remade. Code Veronica needs it next. Then re-remake re 1996.

HeliosHex430d ago

I can't be the only one waiting on code Veronica.

Terry_B430d ago

Its official: There are two people that want a remake of re code veronica.

HeliosHex430d ago

@terry. Lol dang. No love for Veronica.

iNcRiMiNaTi430d ago

I'd take either code Veronica or outbreak files 1/2 remakes

outsider1624430d ago

Man, while RE2 and Now Re4 looked fantastic...i wished they didn't cut out on RE3 because it was personally my favorite back in the days.

chrisx430d ago

Same. I recently finally got around to playing re3 remake and I saw Carlos about 30mins in. It's a big shame soo much was cut from that game, the original was also my fav re3 back then. Big big pity

roadkillers430d ago

Any downfalls getting PC over console

cluclap430d ago

I would only get the PC version if you have a Steam Deck. I've played on my gaming PC, my deck and my PS5. The only reason I'm getting it for PS5 instead of my deck is so in not glued to the game 24/7 lol

Overall Game of the Year 2023

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Those that made it onto the Shortlist below are each special in their own way. Alan Wake 2, a long time in the making, dazzled players with its cutting-edge graphics and brilliant narrative. Baldur's Gate III wowed critics and consumers alike with an amazing cast of characters and dizzying gameplay freedom. Final Fantasy XVI impressed with its beautiful cut-scenes and fresh take on action combat. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a game under the shadow of impossibly high expectations, invigorated its audience with endless opportunities for experimentation. And Resident Evil 4 riffed on an 18-year-old formula, in some instances improving on one of the best games of all time."

*shrug*

It's a Nintendo-heavy site. What else can be said?

anast116d ago

A copy-paste game over BG3...Gotta get that access.

coretone110d ago

BG3 is overrated. It's the worst BG there is.

anast109d ago

Give me some exact reasons why it is overrated. I have some ideas, but I want to hear yours first.

Star ocean 2 remake. That's easy to answer

Best Lead Performance of 2023

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "As the average game script balloons in dialogue there's greater demand for marquee acting talent. And as illustrated by both good & poor examples from 2023, sympathizing with a protagonist's struggle greatly relies on both the writing and delivery. This is emphasized in two unique ways by this year's shortlist: the addition of a voice fundamentally altering Dead Space remake's story beats & the dual protagonist structure in Alan Wake II. A fumble in either of those respects would've resulted in lesser works; fortunately, they're among some of the year's most celebrated titles."

Best VR Game of 2023

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "2023 was a notable year for VR hardware, with both Sony's PSVR2 and Meta's Meta Quest 3 arriving on the scene. Both of them have primarily earned a considerable amount of praise for their technological advancements, but that's not to say their software output was extinct. Granted, early adoption tends to favor older ports with improved visuals and new controller/headset gimmicks; it comes with the territory. But within that flow of ports and updates came an exclusive for each respective platform reaching our shortlist. It's too early to tell if that presages a bountiful surplus of future masterclass VR games, but it's a welcoming sign all the same."

“Horizon Call of the Mountain” had more bells and whistles and has some wow moments for VR newbies. But I had more fun playing “Synapse”.

DaleCooper126d ago

Synapse was my VR GOTY. Such a great game.

coolbeans125d ago

Damn. I want to try that one soon.

Leeroyw126d ago

Red Matter 2 was it for me. The visuals, scope and writing was incredible.

coolbeans125d ago

Another one I missed from last year.

DaleCooper122d ago

Just picked this up, can't wait to play it!

coolbeans125d ago

Don't spoil the surprise for everyone. ;)
