Team Ninja attempts to create yet another Dark Souls challenger, but unlike the much-loved Nioh adventures, the new Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty unfortunately falls on its own sword.

Well, there’s always gotta be one…

To compare games that´s somehow similar to each other in a review is a poor and pretty common misconception which those reviewers use to devalue a game these days.

I remember Horizon Forbidden West getting criticized by reviewers who got "offended" by Alloy´s Shieldwing and making silly comparisons with BOTW which might had affected the overall score.

I think Metacritic should create some review criteria and rules to ensure less biased reviews.

Metacritic doesn't need to do anything, really.

Gamers just need to decide for themselves. I think I speak for everyone here in saying that aggregate scores have defied their own experiences at some point or another.

Plenty of games that have me scratching my head on how they did so poorly or so well.

Yep always gotta be that one that gives a low rating while everyone else giving it a high rating. Honestly makes them look bad.

I liked the demo so I think I'll like this one. Although I can't help but keep thinking it's inferior to nioh's combat which was just amazing, they truly mastered it for the sequel. So I do kinda wish they just brought over the nioh combat. Welp won't truly know til I play the full game.

Lol I don't think this person understood what he was playing. If he did he would understand this game is trying to be it's own thing not a dark souls clone. It borrows lightly from the series but quickly you will see its more like a ninja Gaiden with some dark souls elements. The game isn't even remotely difficult and extremely fair in how it penalizes your mistakes. You always have a companion and the story is typical team ninja. This game is fun and worthy of an 8 not a 6. Parry, parry, parry. Learn it and crush everything the game throws at you.

Yeah...soon as I read the whole dark souls challenger I was like....but it isn't a dark souls challenger...

Well if it’s more like ninja gaiden then I’m more excited for it.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Has Finally Surpassed 5 Million Players Worldwide

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has now crossed the famed 5 million player threshold globally, as announced by the developers on Twitter.

Elda58d ago (Edited 58d ago )

If it's saying 5 million players, most of those players are most likely playing through Gamepass especially when the game has only sold a little over a million copies.

Inverno58d ago

So this is gaming now? Counting how many people have bothered to start the game?

ThePacemaker58d ago

Just to please the shareholders.

Wo long was pretty lacking after nioh 2.... Here's hoping rise of the Ronin doesn't continue the trend

X-2358d ago (Edited 58d ago )

I have to be honest, I bought Wo Long because Nioh 2 was so good and thought it would be as good as said game. I ended up fairly disappointed in the end, Nioh 2 was much better. Perhaps if they make a sequel they will knock it out of the park though as this was somewhat the story with Nioh 1's progression into 2.

Interestingly, for streaming metrics, it is not if you started a show/series...what matters most is that finish it.
