ESTNN Writes: "Hogwarts Legacy is selling itself as the fantasy of every fan of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World. You get to be a student at Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, explore the iconic castle ground, and forge lifelong friendships. So from the go, your enjoyment of this game will heavily depend on your attachment to the Harry Potter books and movies.
The player character is starting out at Hogwarts as a fifth-year in the 1890s. And with the game being set before both movie franchises, the story gets cheeky and liberal with its fanservice.
It is Hogwarts Legacy's biggest strength and biggest weakness, not only does it set out to be a Harry Potter game, it tries to be the Harry Potter game. To a degree in which the game is overly indulgent with its reference game. Some of it is charming and some of it feels like it was just included for the sake of fanservice."
Shahmeer from eXputer: "I've always wondered whether the success of Hogwarts Legacy had much to do with nostalgia. The RPG is great but certainly not free of issues."
I still haven’t finished it, mostly due to it not holding my interest after 20 hours. Wouldn’t say it’s a bad game, wouldn’t say it’s amazing I really can’t judge it fully due to not completing it.
Harry Potter is one of the biggest IPs in the world. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why it sold so much. It’s a great game on top of that, so the math kind of maths here.
Can’t wait for the article on if Zelda or Mario only sold well due to nostalgia.
ngl, it got me in the first half hour
after that, a big let down, mediocre at every step
only fans are praising it
It's still a good game almost time for a 2nd playthrough, the passion they put into it is🔥🔥 crazy how after a couple months or a year folks get to complaining about this n that about certain games smh childish mfs
A Hogwarts Legacy player came across a gigantic tree under Bakar's tower, which might be hiding a grotto in it.
Beyond the routine of completing quests and hunting for mysterious places, there are tons of additional methods to enjoy Hogwarts Legacy. One such way is the creation of a stunning and content-rich Vivarium, as done by a Reddit user Zvak-Keh.
Odd review. I am far from a Harry Potter fan (the books and movies came out well after I was in the target age group). That being said, I am loving the game. Having watched part of one HP movie, I don't need any pre knowledge of the series to enjoy the game. The visuals, sound, ambience and atmosphere, world building, music, story, characters, exploration, and combat are all top notch in my opinion and require no prior knowledge or familiarity with the series. Not sure how this is a knock, but if you aren't a fan of the series, don't let this review scare you away.
I've been surprised by how much reviewers have waffled on about Rowling and what she says on Twitter, as though it's of relevance to this game. It isn't, at all. I think some people have even knocked points off because of it which is laughable.
Incidentally wtf is Scottland?
Reviewers are so far off base on this one. They can't help themselves but bring their own self important brand of politics into the job they're supposed to be doing.
