Gran Turismo 7 Creator Says It Takes 270 Days To Make Each Car From Scratch

Yea gt7 might be the reason I finally jump in on vr.

It's was my most played game of 2022 at 190 hrs, it would be insane to experience it in vr, just need to wait and see if the vr version is the full game or just a specific part like gt sport was apparently that only had a limited vr mode

They also Need to find a quicker way to model these cars, surely there is a faster way, the one knock I have on gt7 is the lack of new new cars, majority are all 2018 and older.

GT Sport basically just had time trials on a limited number of tracks but doing laps in VR is great. Just 'sitting' in the car and checking out the interior, looking over your shoulder, etc is pretty amazing.VR in GT7 is going to take it to the next level.

Have you jumped to online? Even other players are good and they actually drive clean( if you're S ofcourse). Sometimes i hit them and feel bad about it that i let them pass me..lol.
I bought the logitech g29 just for gt7 and with the vr2 its gonna be amazing...holy crap!

I have a Logitec wheel and seat setup, so adding VR is literally just like being in a real car.

I haven't played GT Sport or GT7 online. Maybe one day.

270 human days. Meaning that one person takes 270 days to do one car. A team of devs could do an entire fleet in the same amount of time.

The sudden announcement last week of GT7 coming at launch has been making me really reconsider how much of a bitch I wanna be toward that cable...

I knew it'd come since there was a flash of footage at the end of the PSVR2's first trailer, but I wasn't expecting launch or even spring with how they didn't bring up GT VR at all until then

Agreed, more tracks and some new races and championships, lots of new menu's, although if one car takes 200 plus days then who knows how long it takes them to make a track.

I love gt as a series it's where my love of cars came and started from but man polyphony work slow.

Wipeout Omega with VR was excellent but those undulating tracks and the drifting made me queasy as hell!

People aren’t putting thinking of things in the right perspective. As a people planner and thinking of how you have to look at people planning I look at it like this. You have a task that will take, for simplicities sake, 40 hours. Broken into a team of 8 and everyone has a deadline to finish their “5 hour” share of the total project so it can be assembled, then you’ve done 40 hours of work in 5 hours minus assembly. That’s already almost 2 days of work. So to the people that think it’s BS, that actually makes perfect sense if you have done any high level leadership.

Edit- Just to be clear I am NOT saying it takes 8 people to create a GT7 car. I AM. saying that if each car has a team that is then broken down to tire animators (deformation/research), researchers for that cars model/physics, interior modelers, exterior modelers, programmers for it all, and god knows what else… A day and a half for 8 people doing 5 hours of work with one total task as the objective. How many people and how long for each broken down task, minus assembly, would that one car take with gran turismo level of detail? 20 people per car? 40? Hope this makes sense.

Well then, get 10 people on one car and finish it within a month. 100 people and get 10 cars per month. Scaling this is key. People will pay for car packs for new and/or truly interesting cars.

I don't think you get the point. Forza has consistently been putting out better rated and better looking games in just a margin of the time we get from Gran Turismo.

More cars, more features.

But they're actually bragging about how they put a ridiculous amount of time into the vehicles, which just tells me they don't have a well managed studio.
It wasn't long ago, and I don't remember which exact release it was, but it was shown that they hand crafted only a number of their cars interiors, and just upscaled most of the rest from past models that already existed.

They're lazy and slow. That's plain and simple to see. They just hide behind the idea that they are "dedicated to perfection". Though that's easy to dismantle for anyone who cares to look into them more on just face value.
