Coming to Xbox Game Pass: Monster Hunter Rise, Persona 3 Portable, and Persona 4 Golden

The tine sink point is a good one though.

I've been playing Yakuza 0 over the holidays and have put over 150 hours into it. I think it is available on GP and PSP. Now in my case my subscription paid for itself long ago, but if I was coming to this game without a sub I'm pretty sure I could have bought it second hand for low cost, played it for weeks, then sold it on. It would be much better cost performance than paying a sub to play it.

Point is it makes me think that shorter experiences are more suited to subs because you can play a bunch of different games in the same space of time required for a time sink game.

If you had told me 10 years ago that a PS Vita and a PSP title would be on XBox, I would have thought you were crazy. Here we are, and I'm glad more people get to experience these gems! P4G was so good, and I look forward to playing the enhanced version.

I played P4G on my Vita too, pretty good game. My wife got sick of hearing the somewhere repetitive music in that game, so she probably remembers that game as well lol

if you had told me 10 years ago xbox fans would be championing an old portable JRPG game coming to their platform I'd have shaken my head at the notion. But this is the reality we live in. Selling a sub service via 1st party games without any 1st party games. Brilliant! Best value in gaming!

Yea, to be clear, when I said that I look forward to playing the enhanced version, I meant I will be playing on PS5.

I haven't owned an XBox since the 360, but I have been playing XBox games some on PC since 2017.

I'm still happy though that more people get to experience these Personas. bc these titles should be even more appreciated than they already were. If more niche JRPG titles start selling more because of moves like this, then I'm all for it, because what it means is that more studios will be inclined to make investment into niche JRPGs. Turn based JRPGs need all the help they can get, because I really don't want to see the future of JRPGs going all action like recent Final Fantasy games. While I still manage to find SOME enjoyment in those, they still don't compare to the pure turn-based versions of the past.

Finally - I'd imagine that P3P and PG4 remasters are something that people are going to want to own. Especially in the value that these titles usually fetch in the future when stock becomes scarce. My hope is that these XBox guys try it, love it and then order their own physical copy to support these kinds of awesome JRPGs!

Really hoping Atomic Heart is as good as the trailers make it look... Also, Game Pass has absolutely been amazing. I just love that I can get Game Pass Ultimate for free with the MS rewards points. Having a PC and an Xbox, it's so easy to hit the required amount every month. I've only paid for one month of Game Pass. Since then it's been free for almost a year now thanks to that.

Get ready for a 2 hr intro for Persona 3. I tried to play that game and I couldn't even get to the gameplay section and deleted it after nearly 3hrs of a story with no Gameplay.

1. It definitely doesn't take THAT long. First battle happens within the first half hour.

Have never played the persona series. Are they connected/need to be played in order?

Nah.
They're all isolated stories. 3, 4, and 5 are where they really where they found their stride with the series.

Just keep in mind that they are large jrpgs and require a lot of playtime. 3 and 5 are my favorites.

They share elements like spells and stuff. Basically it’s like Final Fantasy or dragon quest. No need to play previous games.

I owned GamePass for 1 year to try it out and got to play some good games on it and enjoyed a few, but overall there its really over hyped and most of the games are Indie types of games and really not that many that interested me. So after 1 year expired, I still haven't renewed it.

I wish they added more older games from the 360, Xbox and Xbox one. Surely these wouldn't cost as much as newer games and give people more to play because I reckon there is like 70% Indie games on Gamepass and not everyone likes those. Heck, I didnt buy the most powerful console to mainly play these, but at least with some of the older games they run and look better on Series X and still look good. Red Dead Redemption looks amazing still and couldn't believe it still looked so good.

But so far for me Xbox isn't giving me the variety I thought it would and their First party releases are so slow and starting to regret switching over to Xbox this gen.

I’m hate renting games personally . Gamepass has a pretty good lineup this year but it has to for the crappy lineup it has had for last 2 years. But multiplat rental of games won’t ever make me buy an xbox.

Then play the games on Game Pass and if you like it, buy it. If don't like it, move on to another game and you saved yourself from having to buy the game. Game Pass also gives you 10 to 20 percent discount on the games if you end up buying them.

Game Pass is an option, nothing more.
