Star Ocean: The Divine Force is a pleasantly small RPG, which is rare among mainstream 3D JRPGs that tend to be huge these days.
Also included are Star Ocean The Divine Force, Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Unpacking.
Hot damn those are some high quality games right there. I've been meaning to give 13 Sentinels a go, just haven't had the time to get around to it.
13 Sentinels is a must play if you haven't. Like, I can't praise enough what an awesome story and set of characters that game has.
The gaming community lately makes jokes about companies making games that look like "PS3" or "PS2" games. While this is such a nasty dig, there may be some truth to this in the case of tri-Ace.
Sad really. I used to love these guys but man...they just aren't what they used to be.
The Cod games have been using an engine built in the mid 90s. Nothing wrong with using an old engine if they update it. Bioshock used UE2 and looked better than most UE3 games. Arkham knight used UE3 and looked better than most UE4 games.
Sh it does suck but I enjoyed star ocean 6 the most out of any game last year. I thought it was solid af start to finish. My favorite game that year.
I'd love for Sony to get ahold of them.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force no longer appears to have the anti-tampering Denuvo DRM technology in the Steam version.
It doesn't need denuvo
Looks mediocre at best
Maybe it's a phenomenon in Asia
Alot of hrpgs were huge back in the day. They just didnt open up till toward the end or middle. Maybe not huge landscape wise but that was a tech reason imo. There isnt anything wrong with a huge jrpg. They aint meant to be played in a day. Ive been playing star ocean 3 right now for the last 3 4 weeks. Im perfectly fine with that.
In fact i prefer that. I always like to say if you aint getting 60 to 100 hours in one you aint get your moneys worth. Maybe not so true today but still applies to some. Cosmic star heroine was i believe a 20 25 hour jrpg. I managed 56. Im satisfied it was a 15 dollar game. Good game to by the way.
I used to only play games that took 50+ hours. Now that I have the dreaded adult responsibility, I almost never finish games. I have grown to appreciate shorter games. I still play tons of huge RPGs, but I almost never see the story end.
I don’t mind getting a lengthy JRPG experience, though I don’t feel like many are “huge” these days, but I could be wrong.
I’m around 50 hours in and its really is a fantastic game.
