In his 36-year career, Kojima has become one of the world’s best-known game directors – and he has never been keener to welcome fans into his world.

For the full context of the article title:

''All Kojima will say about the other project is that it’s something he has wanted to make for years, but that the technology has never been sufficient until now. “It’s almost like a new medium,” he says. “If this succeeds, it will turn things around – not just in the game industry, but in the movie industry as well.” The challenge, Kojima says, is building the infrastructure: “you can have successful experiments, but there’s a long distance between an experiment and a place where it’s something that becomes a part of everyday usage.” From a business perspective, he says, the second or third person to attempt something new is more likely to succeed commercially. “For the first person, everything is hard. But I want to be the first. I want to keep being the first.”

I love MGS but let's be real here kojima

1- Konami gave you more than 5 years and 80 million to develop MGS5 yet you couldn't even finish it

2- Sony gave you a blank check and you made one of the most boring games

3- you left your fans back and tried chasing new fans with MGS5. we wanted a proper MGS not a wanna be. Story was hidden behind tapes instead of proper cutscenes

Yes I get it Konami treated you unfairly towards the end but what have you done with your creativity freedom. It's not matter of being first it should be instead matter of making the most fun games possible

Why is it that the one thing missing in most games now a days is FUN

''Why is it that the one thing missing in most games now a days is FUN''

This after mentioning MGSV? I can say a lot of bad things about MGSV narrative, but what Kojima and the team did with the gameplay aspects of the game is a bar that yet any developer is about to reach and it was incredibly fun.

Death Stranding is a game that i and many others love, but i do have to acknowledge its definitely not for everyone.

''1- Konami gave you more than 5 years and 80 million to develop MGS5 yet you couldn't even finish it''

And Konami is the one that insisted the game was released cross-gen, which definitely did not help development from the very start and as a reminder, Konami was already at the stage where they wanted to get out of gaming and focus more on pachinko (...) a matter that is starting to change now that they are starting to realize that maybe that was not the best business decision.

And lastly Kojima was the Vice President of KONAMI Digital Entertainment, until the new President (the pachinko decision guy) came to power which had some personal biases against him ... so there are many internal stuff we are not aware off. Not to mention the whole controversy to how Konami treated their employees (Kojima Pro team), like limited bathroom breaks, camera surveillance and such.

Did Kojima had its share of fuck ups? Absolutely, just like all the existing developers out there ... but i wont pretend MGSV misgivings was mostly his fault.

You either like kojima or you don't, you clearly don't.
I disagree with all you're points

I love Hideo. Loved MGS 1 2 and 3. MGS4 he went to the extreme of story telling and the plot for me felt like fan fiction. Then he went to the other end of the spectrum with MGS5. Sure you can say that Konami pulled the plug but after five years and 80 plus million dollars any company would have had enough. Death Stranding was not my cup of tea. If anything Hideo needs to be more grounded.

Death Stranding is one of my favorite games of all time.

atsugiT2575d ago

As much as I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, it makes me sad to see that so many people loved death stranding. It’s good that him and the team were successful and that some fans got what they wanted, but it also means he’s likely to make a sequel one day (maybe soon), which equals more time until the next game that I enjoy from him. I can’t imagine he has more than ~10 years of direct involvement with game making left in him, which is like 2 games.

gold_drake575d ago

i like most of his games, but hes also one that talks. alot. like, gimme them gamesss

Aussiesummer575d ago

Blah bloody blah, he said similar about death stranding and it was an irritating snore test.

Helldivers 2 weapon rebalancing to get massive buff with studio’s new Chief Creative Officer

Pilestedt writes: "Very good question. First thing we got to do is ensure we get more devs time playing the game. It's hard to make the right decisions if the eyes aren't on the road.

Secondly, I want to ensure we actively look at the sentiment and create a holistic view of WHY feedback is given. And my working theory is that TTK is too high."

I’m more interested in what else he said.

“Neil Druckmann says new Naughty Dog title could ‘redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming’

It will be something like "we erased gameplay all together it's just a movie now"

purple10112h ago

every time naughty dog make a game, you play it and get the feeling "this is not possible'

from the boulder running towards you in crash, on ps1,
to the massive open world of jak and daxter, on ps2,
to the QuickTime events sequences of uncharted on ps3/4

and now we will see what they do with ps5,

Press X for doubt at "PS5"

Arrogant asshole who sniffs his own farts bigs up next game…sounds like typical PR to me

You know what I find interesting? Almost every site reporting this as the main title where the REAL interesting bit of the interview is Neil praising AI and saying it will be used to help push story, characters, dialogue and more.

It’s super shitty to big up AI especially when it comes to story telling and other creative elements.

senorfartcushion8h ago

Just because someone says this type of stuff, it doesn't mean that it's guaranteed to be good news.

You can say this about microtransactions. MXTs revolutionised the gaming industry.

Geez how full of themselves are these guys.

Einhander19729h ago

He also said it has "ethical issues we need to address" but of course that doesn't get the clicks.

CrimsonWing699h ago

I’m all for it. Cuts the time to make a game. Look, Hellblade 2 took 5 years to make, if AI can do that in half the time, as a consumer, I support it.

Hidetaka Miyazaki Wants To Work On His Debut Franchise After Elden Ring DLC

Hidetaka Miyazaki appeared in an interview to discuss the future of the Elden Ring DLC and FromSoftware's future plans.

Cacabunga16h ago

I hope Bluepoint are working on BB remake..
Sony now seem to have lost it with all the gaas, i have no hope in seeing them approaching FS to make a sequel. I hope gamers will push Sony and show continuous disapproval to the gaas model

Cacabunga15h ago

U probably right about the remake it is maybe too early. A performance mode would be more welcome at this point

fsfsxii13h ago

can we get new ideas instead of remakes? gamers are the most nostalgia driven on this earth istg

Redgrave7h ago

The problem with new ideas is that they are often riddled with modern gaming problems like battle/season passes, MTX, DEI and/or agenda pushing narratives rather than making something fun.

We look to nostalgia because the magic was still alive and well, where as now it's often limited to indies.

Chard13h ago

Look at how Bluepoint changed the art for demons souls. I wouldn’t want them doing that for Bloodborne

anast9h ago

Compare their releases. How many are GaaS and how many are not. Put the number here for people to see.

gold_drake8h ago

what gaas are we talking? did i miss something?

I don’t know how to feel, Armored Core just isn’t as good as Elden Ring, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and the like.

I hope he does a new IP instead

FinalFantasyFanatic5h ago

I love the Armored Core series, I hope it becomes a regular thing again, like it was back in the PS2 days, we've been starved of AC games for a long time. Although I prefer the gameplay in the PS2 games personally. AC6 was really fun though.

Sonic18815h ago(Edited 5h ago)

The last game was a difficult challenge. I had trouble beating that last boss

shinoff21832h ago

I'm hoping for a Sci fi game. I guess armored core would be Sci fi but I'm not talking about that. I'd like a new Sci fi game

Nacho_Z13h ago

Fortunately, if you're not interested in the AC series, he doesn't say he plans to drop everything to work exclusively on the next one, as implied by the article header. Just general comments about it being an important series he wants to be involved with at some point.

gold_drake8h ago

oofff kings field. i played that not too long ago ha.

shinoff21832h ago

One ofbthe first ps games I beat back in the day. Was fun.

anast9h ago

Good news. I can't wait to see what he comes up with.
