Na, its kinda bad amd couldve been better with a better budget like FF7. Bad lip sync the worse I ever seen, models are eh, no life in the scenes. Its 2022 I know they could've done better but like I said they to focused on the 100th final fantasy then put more budget on SO.

Lightning Mr Bubbles599d ago (Edited 599d ago )

I thought it was pretty fun, but it's true the budget is nothing like FF7 Remake or FF16, it seems they're putting everything, all their AAA treatment into those games. A long the way they're releasing a slew of smaller budget games, like Diofield Chronicle, Valkyrie Elysium, Harvestella, Octopath Traveler 2, Various Daylife, and the list goes on and on.

jznrpg599d ago

Star Ocean won’t get a big budget like FF7 until it sells well enough to warrant a a bigger budget. I’m not expecting perfection, if it’s good I’ll be happy . I’ll play it in Japanese if they have that option also .

blackblades599d ago

Can't sell well if you dont put in the work to make it sell good. Seeing the emotionless scenes definitely the one when landed and just sat there when his brother called was cringy

Lightning Mr Bubbles599d ago (Edited 599d ago )

I really liked the demo, I already pre-ordered the game. The moving around the land is pretty fast, the combat is fast and fun. I didn't really understand it yet, but it was fun. All I understood with the D.U.M.A, is that you can launch yourself at enemies. The combat is real time and you have AP, so when you run out of AP you just roll out of danger till you get AP back.

The exploring is pretty fun also, you can reach high places by launching yourself up with the D.U.M.A and then float down.

Also, it seems you can have private conversations with the characters, which seems to serve as something like the bonding points from games like Persona 5 or the Trails of Cold Steel series. The bonding points are usually so that you can choose which characters you would like to deepened your relationship with.

FinalFantasyFanatic599d ago

D.U.M.A/Exploration was probably my favorite part of the game, in fact, I just like the fast pace of this game.

shinoff2183599d ago

I enjoyed the demo. Of course it wouldve been better with a ff budget but i think they did good with what they probably had budget wise. Also want to point out star ocean never really had the ff budget its always been a secondary jrpg from what i remember way back during snes. I aint tripping off a little sync issue. The gameplay seemed fun graphics were straight(graphics also aint everything). My two most wanted games out right now are star ocean and last of us. Just dont got it like that lol. My next most wanted is sea of stars.

Anyway my only complaint is come on square bring the remastered 2nd star ocean to the west damn it.

Lightning Mr Bubbles599d ago (Edited 599d ago )

Hey, you're the same guy who also likes Legend of Heroes huh. I saw your comment on that other thread.

But seriously, you like The last of us also? It's another one of my favorite franchises. I didn't care much for the latest remaster since I had already beat the original, and after the The Last of Us Part 2, playing The Last of Us Part 1 again would just make me depressed to be honest.

shinoff2183599d ago

Yea. Thats me. I like old school type of jrpgs. I do wanna play the new last of us and will at some point just having car issues messed up gaming budget. Far as games i like alot of different stuff. Im not into racing, music, and military shooters just not for me

lucian229599d ago

sad to say, as a fan of the series since the 2nd game, the series died after 4th game. Unlike Tales of Arise which finally became up to date with what a jrpg should be, this game feels like a ps2 game. Animations, graphics, gameplay, all of it is so bad. I was hoping so bad that it was going to be good. Sigh

shinoff2183599d ago (Edited 599d ago )

Its a remaster of a psp game. Im not sure what you expected. Not every rpg has to be a hack n slash to be good. The series though is doing fine. Sigh

blackblades599d ago

No it's not, this is the 6th installment of the series.

lucian229599d ago

Shinoff, you have to be kidding right? LOL!!!!!! it's the newest game in the series; and no the series bombed with the 5th game, it was just purely trash. This one seems to be the same....the fact you think it's a remaster of a psp game means you agree that the graphics are horrible lmao.

shinoff2183599d ago

Oops. Got my tabs mixed up thought i was under legend of heroes tab. My bad

Star ocean still looks alright to me. More interested in it then ff16. Atleast star ocean was always a action rpg.

Lightning Mr Bubbles599d ago (Edited 599d ago )

@shinoff2183

LOL, I thought maybe you were getting confused with Crisis Core Reunion. Since you said PSP remaster

At first I wasn't that interested in FF16 either but I started to warm up to it. That last trailer that had all the summons fighting looked pretty cool. Then I started to wonder who is Shiva's dominant, and I heard it's probably Jill Warrick, her and Clive Rosfield are probably the main characters, and Joshua Rosfield also, he's Clive's younger brother. https://twitter.com/playsta...

A series I always wanted to like. I bought Last Hope on 360. I thought it was alright. But this is a futuristic space series that always seems to end up in villages with swords and elves.

The last one bombed, iirc. I suspect if this one does too, it'll definitely be the end of the series. People were surprised the LAST one was even made.

Edit: And man, that protag with the 80s metal hair wig just looks bad.

lucian229599d ago

protag in general looks bad, it isn't even the concept artist fault fully; the 3d modelers you could tell, haven't touched modeling software since ps2 era.

Lightning Mr Bubbles599d ago

I doubt Star Ocean: The Divine Force will bomb. It already looks way better than the previous one called Integrity and Faithlessness or whatever. And it's getting way more attention also.

FinalFantasyFanatic599d ago

I played Integrity and Faithlessness as long as I can, just hoping it was the beginning hours that were just not for me, but I had to give up on, just terrible.

Hot damn those are some high quality games right there. I've been meaning to give 13 Sentinels a go, just haven't had the time to get around to it.

RpgSama244d ago

I had it on my wishlist waiting for a Discount, when I knew I would be close to playing it, so much in my backlog already, might as well try it now.

Also looks at ALL those Star Ocean titles!!!

Einhander1972244d ago

The story is so great especially if you don't know what's going on, When i played it I kept thinking I bet this is "it" no I bet that's "it" no it's got to be this, but "it" wasn't those things in the end.

It's Japanese story telling style at it's finest, lead you along and let you wonder what is actually going on really keeping you engaged to figure out the mystery.

The RTS gameplay I really enjoyed too, my only regret was that there wasn't even more of it!

RpgSama244d ago

LOL,

Who is salty enough to give you 4 dislikes for praising this game?

fr0sty244d ago

Probably why they hiked the price, so there could be better quality games and less shovelware.

notachance244d ago

It's one of the best story ever made in recent years, there's a reason it was nominated the best narrative in 2020's TGA.

Tapani244d ago

I heard 13 Sentinels has a superb story, gotto try it at one point.

I can vouch for Nier Replicant, it has one of the coolest endings I have experience in a game. Took me a while to complete the game fully, but man, it was more than worth it in the end.

nier and star ocean. 14 sentinels, jrpg dream. Even I can't hate on that.

CrimsonWing69244d ago

13 Sentinels is a must play if you haven't. Like, I can't praise enough what an awesome story and set of characters that game has.

monkey602244d ago

Why did they rename Backbone? Strange.

Tri-Ace still uses their old game engine from 2008

The gaming community lately makes jokes about companies making games that look like "PS3" or "PS2" games. While this is such a nasty dig, there may be some truth to this in the case of tri-Ace.

Sad really. I used to love these guys but man...they just aren't what they used to be.

phallusitator349d ago

According to the this they are exactly what they used to be…

Noskypeno349d ago

The Cod games have been using an engine built in the mid 90s. Nothing wrong with using an old engine if they update it. Bioshock used UE2 and looked better than most UE3 games. Arkham knight used UE3 and looked better than most UE4 games.

Chriswynnetbh349d ago

I would give my left nut for an infinite undiscovery pc port

shinoff2183349d ago

Sh it does suck but I enjoyed star ocean 6 the most out of any game last year. I thought it was solid af start to finish. My favorite game that year.

I'd love for Sony to get ahold of them.

shinoff2183349d ago

To late to edit but I just wanted to add not every game that comes out needs to push a consoles boundaries. Star ocean 6 looked fairly good to me.

shammgod349d ago

Yeah. They definitely squeezed every drop out of that engine for SO6. It was a fun game

nitus10349d ago (Edited 349d ago )

I assume you are talking about "Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness" which I do have and am still playing. IMHO it is a good game but for some reason I still prefer "Star Ocean: The Last Hope" that I played on my PS3.

As a side note I have "Star Ocean: Till the End of Time" (PS2 version) which I played on my first gen PS3 but unfortunatly the Australian version of the PS3 did not have full backwards capability like the US version did. I got so far in the game and hit a bug (advancement to a new area between two mountains) that prevented further play.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force No Longer Has Denuvo DRM On Steam

Star Ocean: The Divine Force no longer appears to have the anti-tampering Denuvo DRM technology in the Steam version.

gurp388d ago

I already beat the game, but thank you

Tzuno387d ago (Edited 387d ago )

It doesn't need denuvo
Looks mediocre at best
Maybe it's a phenomenon in Asia
