EA and Marvel to create AAA Iron Man game: "It’s about giving developers freedom"

From GI.biz: "Back when Square Enix’s The Avengers was unveiled at E3, a few of us were wondering: could this be the start of the Marvel Interactive Universe?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated cinema (and now TV) for nearly 15 years, with its huge comic book universe of interconnecting stories, characters and franchises. Following the success of the PlayStation Spider-Man games, and now with big partnerships with major AAA studios, were we about to see the company try and repeat the trick in video games?

The answer was no. And according to Bill Rosemann, the VP and creative director of Marvel Games, such a move would be detrimental to the company’s overall ambition."

I like that this would be totally original in design, like what Insomniac did with Spider-man. Not based on an existing movie or show concept. that already makes it better than the 7th gen release that Sega did.

navi87297d ago

Insomniac just basically copied the formula from PS2 version of Spider-man 2. Everything was jacked up to 11 but yeah the basic formula was already there.

EA already made an Iron Man game. It was called Anthem lol.

ClayRules2012586d ago

Lol, oh how I remember that game…

-Foxtrot586d ago

Kind of feels they chose Iron Man because they didn't want to waste the Anthem flying assets

ABizzel1586d ago

That's exactly why they're making this. The groundwork is already there and done. They only need to choose/create a story, create a city map, and ensure the mechanics are there.

The flying and combat in Anthem were never the issue with that game so I expect Iron Man to be adequate there, and I also want a PSVR2 mode since Sony's not making their sequel to Iron Mna.

Snakeeater25586d ago

But I had multiplayer :p so that’s why it sucked

Lionsguard586d ago

Well, the flying was the best part in that game.

ClayRules2012586d ago

Yeah, the flying was really good/solid.

Should have happened a long time ago. People wanting refunds after 50 hours in game.

fsfsxii1d 13h ago

Pc gamers will take this as an excuse to pirate things

KyRo1d 12h ago

I'm not sure why you're getting disgrees. Whilst not all PC gamers are petty, an awful lot of them are lol

Crows901d 12h ago

Entirely untrue. Not any more petty than console gamers. The only large difference is console gamers don't have much of a choice.

Michiel19891d 3h ago

Not sure why you're getting agrees. an awful lot of console gamers are overemotional twinks ready to go to war over a plastic box, I'll take being a pc gamer then.

Speaking about overgeneralizing much.

"X" type of gamer conversations are cringe

qalpha1d 13h ago

Daily reminder that 'TheGamer' is a corporate-generated, anti-gamer, anti-consumer, clickbait web site. They are mostly A.I. generated articles that villainize gamers. They provide nothing positive and actively try to provoke and divide the community through extreme view points and politics. Do not give them any clicks.

Inverno1d 12h ago

Only scumbags? As if people don't play their games on console put in the most amount of hours and return it to GameStop and trade it in for another game. But also how many people are actually do this? And what games have been allowed to be refunded?

DustMan1d 12h ago

You can refund any game you've purchased as long as it hasn't been longer than two weeks, and you've played less than 2 hours. I wish they would change it to 3 hours because some RPG's have so much exposition that you may only get an hour total of complete gameplay. That's my only knock on it. I've refunded plenty of stuff I was just curious to try. I typically stay away from Early Access titles which are the only ones affected by this policy change.

Inverno1d 11h ago

Apparently early access doesn't count, only complete games with a play early preorder bonus.

Gaming4Life19811d 12h ago

I definitely know if I want a refund in 2 hours.

SegaSaturn6691d 3h ago

I never liked refunding anything. Even if a film is bad, i dont want my money back. Sometimes things just aren't for me, and it's not the creator's fault necessarily.

Gaming4Life198122h ago

I feel you and i have never walked out on a bad movie cause I payed my money. I also don't refund games cause I'm a gamer and I know what to buy lol. I think having a digital refund is great.

Dayum did I hit a nerve. Sorry for not liking most of this gens games coming from PS, not really doe.

Cacabunga2d ago

Hopefully doesn’t take them a complete gen to release it

TheColbertinator2d ago

Good. Something not boring, not one of those "make your own game" crap and also on Steam would be nice.

I too like to look for things in the wrong places.
