Possible Spoiler below? Stop if you're not familiar with Norse mythology! Stop if you don't want to read my predicted ending. I could be completely wrong though!

But... the ending is going to be absolutely heart breaking if it takes cues from real Norse mythology (you know who Atreus really is at the end of the first game, and in the lore you may know what happens to him)... Kratos kinda twisted Greek mythology in many ways though, so there's no reason he can't twist Norse even more! (there are so many variations in the real world stories anyways)

Since Kratos wrote himself into Norse Mythology and is a wild card though, it could be that he ultimately sacrifices himself in some way to save Atreus and completely rewrite the Ragnarok myth as we know it. Ragnarok averted. They were really playing up Kratos's past selfishness in the trailer. The most selfless thing of his life he could ever do is to give his life to save his boy and save the world. Ragnarok is supposed to bring about a new era, but the sacrifice could change it completely from what was originally foretold.... a new era, but a completely different new era.

Either way, the end will be gut wretching, but a Kratos sacrifice would at least be a beautiful ending.

Granted Kratos already sacrificed himself to give ''hope'' back to humanity in GOW 3 (...) and something tells me this will not be the last Kratos game, but it will indeed be the end of Norse myth.

@MrVux000 Yea, I'd like to see how the writers address God of War 3's ending also. The answer probably lies in God of War Ascension with the Primordials, who were the original gods of all existence who made the Olympian gods, and seemingly the Norse gods too.

He may have been sent back at the feet of the Primordials after his GOW3 death, and somehow they brought him back in an alternate reality, maybe with a vow to Surtr...who is also a Primordial. Surtr was the second being brought into the Norse realm after Ymir, and is the one fated to destroy the world in Ragnarok. He was defeated by Odin and Thor, where he remains in Muspelheim, forever honing his legendary sword until the fateful day comes.

All Thor and Odin are trying to do is save the realm, they're not really evil. They are on a mission to kill Kratos and Atreus to somehow avert Ragnarok though. How and why? No idea yet.

There could be a foreshadowing at the end of Ascension when Kratos is confronted by Orkos and told the end to his bond would be to spill his innocent blood.

This is what causes Kratos's agonzing visions of slaughtering his wife and child to overtake him and set about the events of the original God of War trilogy.

What happened at the end of God of War 3 seemingly stopped the agonizing visions after maybe landing at the feet of the Primoridals, but for some reason he was brought back to life and put in the Norse realm.

The Primordials though are the key to how these games can continue. Kratos kills himself, knowing full well he'll never see his son again in the Norse realm. He could continue on though in the future in another alternate reality.

Freya is keeping good on her promise, THANKFULLY! I already wanted to fight her, but after seeing her blade to Atreus’s throat, oh, you’re asking for trouble… I mean, you know who Kratos is haha.

And bloody hell, Thor and Kratos, that’ll be insanely intense!! The scope of this game really is going to shock people, I think, I really do. I can see why SSM have been so hush hush on this game, polishing it up etc. and I don’t blame them. To create something to be just as good as 2018’s game (if not better) is not an easy task, and as we know, SSM, much like ND and I assume the other studios within Sony strive for perfection, and to try and achieve that, especially on a sequel to a game where expectations are going to be outta this world, they know they’ve just got to make a better game in every area, as much as possible. To me, while having not played it, they seem to have done possibly just that.

I get you saying you’ve seen “Enough” God of War, but how much of it have you actually seen of Ragnarok, to have seen enough? Again, a genuine question. If it’s the trailer with Kratos, Atreus and sled with wolves, Freya attacking Kratos and whatever else was in that trailer, okay, that was a neat trailer, but I personally wouldn’t consider that enough for me, but that’s me.

I’m there with you in terms of new iPs, and we saw Rise of The Ronin (as you’ve mentioned) which looks great. Many of us on here are itching for new iPs to new announced by Sony’s other studios, we’re all wondering what could be being worked on, what next few masterpieces are being crafted to take us on more adventures, to bring us into more gripping stories, with characters we’ll love, hate and add to the PlayStation library of iconic characters. Along with advances in thrilling gameplay, thanks to the power and speed of PS5, gosh I can’t wait for that as I know so many can’t wait for this either, real advances in the scope of gameplay!!! But that’ll happen in time.

Nonetheless, Sony will reveal more new iPs for PS5 when the studios working on them are ready to unveil them, just be patient🙏🏼

There is never much a guarantee, as we still don't really know what Sony plans with ALL future first party games.

A reminder, Jim Ryan's financial showcase showed that PC will receive only 25% of first party games, PS5 will retain 50% of them and mobile another 25%. (by financial years of 2025/2026)

Take that how you will. In the end it does not really matter, its the same game experiance, played on either PS5 or possible PC version. The only difference is the wait time that can vary from 2 years to 4 years. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Watched it a second time and it was even cooler. “Death can have me when it earns me” is such a badass line and kratos thing to say. It’s refreshing after the last few games with terrible writing. I also think the trailer suggests that Giant wolf in these trailers isn’t fenrir.

I think he demonstrated that with his bow shot chasing the sun. I still think the direction they are going is that Loki will shape into fenrir instead of being his child. Might play as fenrir at some point to kill odin. Which is completely different from the myths but still dope. Loki is the reason Thor has his hammer in the myths so it’s off the rails and unpredictable for people like me too. People hate on game writing but gow is brilliantly done.

I’m glad there was no dlc and they just continued working on the same game essentially. I think that’s why the comparison is so thick. It is the same with added detail/moves and expanded environments. It’s not a new engine and concept like 2018 was. It’s the clean up story.

Yeah, that’s how I felt. It looked better on my TV. I think I just expected GOW to really wow me graphically because it’s usually the one game every gen you say, “how TF they make it look that good??” What’s funny though is that I’m saying that and the game still looks ridiculously good. That’s the expectations they have for their games.

Love the fact the blades are back, they are the most fun weapon he has. I’m looking forward to this a lot! Replaying the last GOW again to get ready.
