Listen it will probably be a GOTY contender material no doubt but given how many crazy releases await us in 2023 and who knows how many more will be announced for that year it is very premature and also immature to call it GOTY right away especially when this new short trailer gave us nothing special and actually shows a downgrade from the previous gameplay trailer.

SeTTriP608d ago

8 people hated your reasonable prediction.zelda could easily win goty next year.

Its not a sure bet but a good one.

neutralgamer1992608d ago (Edited 608d ago )

So can another game and that's also reasonable

CaptainHenry916608d ago

@neutralgamer1992

You have any other games in mind? I'm all ears

CaptainHenry916608d ago

I concur. It has no competition imo

SeTTriP607d ago

Zelda is kinda what gaming is all about or Nintendo exclusive which is pure gameplay and gameplay mechanics.

It's hard to bet Nintendo flagship titles in that department including playstation.

I want a collcector's edition or any special edition take my $$ now😃

AzubuFrost608d ago

Better stock up on energy drinks and have your senses on maximum alert because once Nintendo opens preorders for possible collectors editions, scalpers will be taking every single one of them without a second thought to humble customers like us.

Its crazy how rabid people get about calling an unreleased unpreviewed nintendo game goty.

*Sequel to one of the highest rated games of the generation.

How ridiculous that people get excited!

mkis007607d ago (Edited 607d ago )

The retrospective on BotW was more negative than intial reviews.

But excited is different from calling an unreleased game in a packed year goty.

septemberindecember607d ago

@mkis

Not sure what you mean by retrospective. User reviews on metacritic have actually gone up (indicating better retroactive perspectives) and journalists still state that BotW is one of, if not the best, legend of Zelda game

monkey602608d ago

Hopefully it has some resemblance of mission structure or plot this time.

CS7608d ago

Nope. The open structure is what made BOTW special imo.

Imalwaysright608d ago

Why? So that 2 of the best aspects about BoTW wich is freedom and player agency to be erased from the sequel? There are already plenty of "open" world games with almost no player agency giving an illusion of freedom so I hope that Nintendo doesn't pull a 180 and turns the sequel of BoTW into another generic "open" world game.

monkey602607d ago

I thought breath of the wild felt aimless. Sure it was cool finding out little things I could do like Bridge a gap with a fallen tree or use my shield like a surf board. Those things were great!
But I keep getting so bored of the same landscape, towers and enemies.
I need a reason other than sticking a slate in a socket to keep going in the game

darkrider608d ago

It's goty because it's Zelda? Wait to see what kind of evolution can Nintendo bring to 2023 game.

CS7608d ago

Sequel to one of the highest rated games of all time would likely be GOTY. Not “just because its Zelda”

darkrider607d ago

Why? The trailer doesn't show almost nothing. It can be the highest rated ever, but it's a Nintendo game and everybody knows how it works. What I see is something that a couple of gen's ago was what you can achieve, now it seems dated in every aspect. Rpg have evolved from the wii u times.

Yesterday I was playing and there was a puzzle with two gears, (one moving and one stationary) and I couldn’t figure out how to get the stationary gear moving .

I took my spear and stuck it against moving gear and it transferred the motion to the stationary gear and that solved the puzzle.

I was so shocked I went online to see what was the intended way to solve this and I didn’t see anyone solve it quite the way I did (from the few videos I watched).

I definitely believe that this “intuitive” gameplay is the future of game design.

ZeekQuattro21h ago

Indeed. The number of puzzles I solved thinking this will never work surprised me. One puzzle had me wanting to pull my hair out though. It was one of the jet rail puzzles. I looked up tips and one solution was as simple as creating a box and draping it over the rail and riding that across as you stood in the middle of it. I was done. 🤣

FinalFantasyFanatic13h ago

I'm dumb AF when it comes to this game, I tend to over complicate the solution, but some of the things people come up with is brillant, people are making missiles systems, mechs, tanks, etc...

antikbaka18h ago

i stll believe that it's inferior to the first part

FinalFantasyFanatic13h ago

ToTK would have been amazing to me if the first part either didn't exist, or I never played BotW. Part of my issue is feeling like I've done all this before and TotK feels like a 1.5 version of BotW, Totk temples and puzzles were better than the first game though.

lucian22912m ago

literally this; though temples and puzzles were pretty bad in botw too

H917h ago

The gameplay loop is one of the best ever

lucian22912m ago

got bored in 3 hours; felt like i was playing the same exact game as Botw; and when my brother told me he doesnt learn even one new slash, i lost all motivation to play. Tired of fighting goblins with the same old attacks, even though i loved BOTW, this kinda rehash lazy gameplay isnt good, and no just adding some gadgets isn't enough

4k turd doesnt look very good. resolution of textures, poor lighting, bad models and shaders wont be saved by upscaling a video to 4k

gold_drake32d ago

the issue is that zelda is heavily styliesed (spelling), take away all the yricks that make it look good, and ur left with ... well. that

lucian22930d ago

thing is you can be heavily stylized and detailed. zelda isnt unique in cel shading, just look at the detail given by arc system works granblue versus rising or guilty gear

gold_drake32d ago

its astonishing that nintendo games will never achieve it. maybe in 10 years when all of us have moved on to greater things
