these articles are to generate hype for a game that many people want to play. If you don't want to play it, then fine, don't. You don't need to announce it though. Maybe wait for the performance review first if you are worried.

N4G's community is really weird about that, don't know why BoTW attracts so much ire when I can think of worse games. It really did change and build upon open world games, now I can't unsee those elements in newer games.

Not really tbh, sony and ms play in a different field so there big hitters will be fine on the sales side, on the review side then yes i expect reviewers have already given this game a 10 in there heads already so dont think any games will compete review wise.

I completely agree. I really saw nothing of interest in the ND. I still have yet to complete the previous Zelda or the one before that. Nintendo is clearly in a different lane than Sony or MS. Both will be fine regardless of when the next Zelda comes out.

Shame its over a year away but it will certainly be worth the wait, i expect a new nintendo console will coincide with its release also which is well overdue, outside of zelda and a very select few games im tired of playing slughtly better looking ps2 level games on my switch

Im from australia so when i saw the date of the 05/12/2023 i read that as day/month/year as thats how we do the dates down here, so much for a new nintendo console then haha thats about the only down side to zelda coming out sooner.

Unfourtinately it looks like a downgrade from the reveal tralier. Aghhh a little disappointed but still can’t wait for the game. :)

I'm sure this game will push the Switch a little harder since it doesn't have to worry about running on the Wii U and the devs probably understand the hardware better now.

I highly doubt there is any new "hardware knowledge" to be gained on ancient maxwell cores and a mobile CPU- but maybe they have had time to refine it, though its still a game that has to run smoothly on a launch switch in handheld mode without it running the battery down in minutes- so the game is going to be what the game is going to be- art style not technical prowess.

It makes sense. The Switch uses mobile / cellphone tech, and the mobile industry will start moving over to 3nm with the iPhone 15 Fall of 2023, and then everyone else 2024. So 7nm / 6nm / or even 5nm should be readily available for the Switch 2 and should be a big upgrade over the Switch's current 20nm now down to 16nm.

I'm getting this day one but, going through the direct I'm a bit disappointed. There was no Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, or Metroid Prime remake. Hell not even a tiny trailer for Metroid Prime 4😑

It wasn't a trailer, which is a bit disappointing. That was another teaser. Granted, they did put little clues in it that people will be combing over for months. A proper trailer, probably in February, will show some story, more gameplay, and music.

I agree..... Except the story part.... Zelda rarely has any story at all, botw had almost nothing. Unlike the warriors beat em up Zelda game which had way more.

If you don't think much of Zelda's storytelling, I highly recommend giving this a watch. The stories in those games are often told very subtly. This is a documentary that breaks down the elements of OoT's story, and it's still one of my favorite youtube videos.

Personally, I am super excited for this game. I know its kinda the done thing to bag on Breath of the Wild these days, but I absolutely adored that game and I think I'll look to replay it over Christmas to orepare for the epicness of this sequel.

It looked great, I just hope they haven't made it so massive and forgot to refine from the previous entry. The quests were mainly forgettable. Korok seeds and mini dungeons were not enough to keep the world feeling engaging tbh.

I hope they've worked on that and included some more different upgrades,powers,etc. that would make you want to explore the world.

Very close to my birthday. I’m not sure if I’ll get it at release as I usually go on vacation around this time but if I am in the US it’s day 1 .
Hopefully they got rid of weapon breaking and the world isn’t as empty and enemy types vary more in the dungeons and the world . That’s most of my gripes with the first game but it’s still a good game but room for improvement here .

I think there will be many improvements over the original. For one, the Switch has a power advantage over the Wii U in just about every way, so some of the technical limitations they had in development with BotW can (hopefully) be overcome. More enemies, NPCs, maybe elements of a persistent world. Also, as a sequel, they didn't have to make everything from scratch, so they've had the time for years now to refine the engine and mechanics, and look at what could have been improved from the prior game. Other direct sequel Zelda games (Zelda 2 and Majora's Mask) were developed within a year. TotK will have had over 6 years. I think Nintendo knows this is the BIG ONE for them, as in it's probably the biggest and most ambitious game they've ever made, and needs to live up to the hype and expectations of BotW.

Is it weird that I’m looking forward to the Front Mission games more than this game? I’m still playing BoTW but in micro doses. The stamina system is really a pain as well as the weapon durability. If they address this, I may consider allocating time to Tears of the Kingdom.
