The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Coming May 12th, 2023 – Nintendo Switch

The title for the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been revealed!

LordoftheCritics608d ago (Edited 608d ago )

So umm basically all other games are getting delayed from May to end of the year now.

Besides that Nintendo Direct is turning into malware.

Aghashie608d ago

I'll pick a copy of Zelda after I squeezed Tactics Ogre flat like grandma do to her toothpaste.

So, I can wait.

Limitedtimestruggle608d ago

I can. I don't want to play this at sub 1080p and 25-30 fps lol.

Neonridr608d ago

then don't play it, simple.

Limitedtimestruggle607d ago

@ Neonridr: Why are you repeating what I just said?

Neonridr607d ago

these articles are to generate hype for a game that many people want to play. If you don't want to play it, then fine, don't. You don't need to announce it though. Maybe wait for the performance review first if you are worried.

2023 GOTY without a doubt

-Foxtrot608d ago

I remember when this got announced and people said the same thing without seeing anything on it

Another “flawless, 10 out of 10, revolutionary game of all time with no issues we’ll say during release but say months later” game just like Breath of the Wild…

You guys really have a hate boner for botw around here. It’s really odd.

-Foxtrot608d ago

Oh no…not hate of the game, hate of the hype and how overrated it is

It’s a good game, just not this revolutionary game people make it out to be

Games get criticised for the smallest things yet BotW turned the other cheek for their issues. Double standards.

@Foxtrot, I'm going to wait on this before claiming GOTY, we get stupid amounts of new games every year, even with the pandemic still raging on.

@ChubbyBlade
N4G's community is really weird about that, don't know why BoTW attracts so much ire when I can think of worse games. It really did change and build upon open world games, now I can't unsee those elements in newer games.

There's a chance FFVII Rebirth might still release late next year so it will have some competition.

whitbyfox608d ago (Edited 608d ago )

Is that some sort of joke? A sequel to a bloated but good on-the-rails RPG is gonna beat TofK. No chance in hell.

tay8701608d ago

both rebirth and final fantasy 16 are going to be strong contenders. personally i think spiderman 2 will end up being game of the yr next yr. have zero doubts insomniac are going to knock it out of the park.

H9608d ago

Didn't expect a release date honestly, the game looks great, hoped the trailer would be longer, hope to see more of it soon, the countdown begins

gold_drake608d ago

wasnt expecting a release date, but ima definitely get it

Ryuk_2007608d ago (Edited 608d ago )

Game publishers who planned to release their games in May are having an emergency meeting right now lol

Flawlessmic608d ago

Not really tbh, sony and ms play in a different field so there big hitters will be fine on the sales side, on the review side then yes i expect reviewers have already given this game a 10 in there heads already so dont think any games will compete review wise.

DefaultComment608d ago

yeah, tell that to the original Horizon Zero Dawn.

Christopher608d ago

@DefaultComment The brand new IP release that sold over 20m copies? That one?

hiawa23608d ago

I completely agree. I really saw nothing of interest in the ND. I still have yet to complete the previous Zelda or the one before that. Nintendo is clearly in a different lane than Sony or MS. Both will be fine regardless of when the next Zelda comes out.

Yesterday I was playing and there was a puzzle with two gears, (one moving and one stationary) and I couldn’t figure out how to get the stationary gear moving .

I took my spear and stuck it against moving gear and it transferred the motion to the stationary gear and that solved the puzzle.

I was so shocked I went online to see what was the intended way to solve this and I didn’t see anyone solve it quite the way I did (from the few videos I watched).

I definitely believe that this “intuitive” gameplay is the future of game design.

ZeekQuattro1d 10h ago

Indeed. The number of puzzles I solved thinking this will never work surprised me. One puzzle had me wanting to pull my hair out though. It was one of the jet rail puzzles. I looked up tips and one solution was as simple as creating a box and draping it over the rail and riding that across as you stood in the middle of it. I was done. 🤣

FinalFantasyFanatic1d 1h ago

I'm dumb AF when it comes to this game, I tend to over complicate the solution, but some of the things people come up with is brillant, people are making missiles systems, mechs, tanks, etc...

antikbaka1d 7h ago

i stll believe that it's inferior to the first part

FinalFantasyFanatic1d 1h ago

ToTK would have been amazing to me if the first part either didn't exist, or I never played BotW. Part of my issue is feeling like I've done all this before and TotK feels like a 1.5 version of BotW, Totk temples and puzzles were better than the first game though.

lucian22912h ago

literally this; though temples and puzzles were pretty bad in botw too

H91d 5h ago

The gameplay loop is one of the best ever

lucian22912h ago

got bored in 3 hours; felt like i was playing the same exact game as Botw; and when my brother told me he doesnt learn even one new slash, i lost all motivation to play. Tired of fighting goblins with the same old attacks, even though i loved BOTW, this kinda rehash lazy gameplay isnt good, and no just adding some gadgets isn't enough

Demetrius12h ago

I been finishing this up, had plenty of backlog I caught up on recently finished robocop, ac mirage, ac valhalla, spiderman 2, metro exodus all were so mf fun definitely still enjoying this

4k turd doesnt look very good. resolution of textures, poor lighting, bad models and shaders wont be saved by upscaling a video to 4k

gold_drake33d ago

the issue is that zelda is heavily styliesed (spelling), take away all the yricks that make it look good, and ur left with ... well. that

lucian22930d ago

thing is you can be heavily stylized and detailed. zelda isnt unique in cel shading, just look at the detail given by arc system works granblue versus rising or guilty gear

gold_drake33d ago

its astonishing that nintendo games will never achieve it. maybe in 10 years when all of us have moved on to greater things
