CoD is usually right behind Fortnite on the most played lists of Xbox live and PSN. Fortnite has more players than its nearest competitors, or its players play substantially more. Another possibility is that Fortnite’s most hardcore players largely [or soley ]play just Fortnite.

Zeref116d ago

There's a lot of kids playing fortnite. They have all the time in the world so it makes sense.

Jin_Sakai117d ago (Edited 117d ago )

There was 2.4 million people playing Lego Fortnite a while back but it’s dropped off the map since there’s a huge lack of content and the game is riddled with bugs and server lag. They pretty much sent it out to die.

--Onilink--117d ago

It has just barely been 1 month since the game mode came out…..kinda hard to blame them for not putting out a whole bunch of content and updates in less than 5 weeks since it was released

Jin_Sakai116d ago (Edited 116d ago )

“It has just barely been 1 month since the game mode came out“

This is the problem with gamers nowadays. You should expect a game to be somewhat complete and work properly ant launch. Extra content and updates are icing on the cake.

--Onilink--116d ago

i would say the problem with gamers nowadays would be when they are suddenly expecting content updates for a game mode that has been out for 5 weeks…

Even normal updates can easily take a few weeks to do.

And thats not taking into account that there isnt inherently anything gamebreaking about the bugs in Lego Fortnite?

Can it be better? Yes. Can it have more content? Also yes. Is a completely functional and serviceable game mode as it is right now? Absolutely

Jin_Sakai116d ago (Edited 116d ago )

“Even normal updates can easily take a few weeks to do.“

Why not release it when you have proper content ready instead of pushing out the door in a barebones state? It’s also full of bugs and glitches. Did they not play test before releasing the game?

“Is a completely functional and serviceable game mode as it is right now? Absolutely“

No it’s not. Have you not seen all the X and Reddit post? Literally everyone is having issues building because the server lag is breaking everything or builds just flat out disappearing when logging out and back in.

Rocketisleague116d ago

Its literally s free game mode aside fortnight. Like rocker league racing.

ModsDoBetter116d ago (Edited 116d ago )

The comments saying that its fine and it works wouldn't be singing the same tune if the article was about an Xbox exclusive.

Crazy how this hasn't died off yet

To hear kids talk about this and asking for money to buy things from the store saddens me. They'd rather have virtual stuff than ask for brand new cool looking games.

Profchaos116d ago (Edited 116d ago )

Lots of kids were unwrapping cardboard cards with fornite codes this year for Xmas I bet that kind of makes me sad especially since I still have a lot of my games like my Gameboy with DK country as a example it's tangible real and reminds me of Christmas morning when I was a kid every time I see it.

Kids getting DLC or digital games that will be forgotten in a few weeks man I hate that gaming has come to this.

Rocketisleague116d ago

Times change and you're not a kid any more. You wonder what kids 20.years before your generation look forward too and so.on. At some point so.e considered a bar of.chocolate a gift worth getting excited over

Rocketisleague116d ago (Edited 116d ago )

I've been playing it on a d off for years. It's great fun. Most importantly..I have never spent any money on it.

Br sad if you must but if live service is going becoming the biggest thing...fortnite is the one doing it right. They even upgraded to unreal engine 5 recently. Can't say that about some aaa studios

AshleeEmerson116d ago

I mean, Fornite is from Epic Games, who are the creators behind Unreal Engine 5 so, this was not only a boost to what they had but a showcase of their technology.

Also, yes, it's really fun and Fortnite has the template for the Metaverse, they are creating the foundation, I pray Apex finds that road (as my favorite shooter EVER!).

franwex94d ago

I’m sure that’s what our parents or grandparents were saying when we were getting excited about an NES game.

Demetrius116d ago

Not surprised there's so many lil kids that understand how to play fortnite, I never been into it I rather play COD campaign and I don't even like COD no more cause it's all about multiplayer and paid add on bullshhi

Demetrius116d ago

Not surprised so many kids like to play and females too, I know females who love fortnite idk why but won't play gems like AC origins, God of War 2018&2022 or the previous ones, alan wake, I tried fortnite for like 30 mins and Uninstalled that shhi I rather play COD campaign n that says alot cause I'm not even into COD no more cause it's all bou multiplayer and pay for shhi that shoulda been unlockable in the game

PS5 Sales Up 175% in Europe in September 2023, EA Sports FC 24, Starfield, and More Debut

Starfield, the new IP from Xbox and Bethesda, debuted in second place for the second biggest launch for Xbox this generation with sales 13 percent lower than Forza Horizon 5.

PS5 domination continues. Spider-Man 2 will only push the needle further.

solideagle202d ago

I did not expect Starfield to lose to EA sports FC 24 for number 1 spot that's bit shocking to me. maybe starfield sold digitally more...

MrNinosan202d ago

Digitally is included, but EAFC (FIFA) is enormous here in Europe, and always win September.
And that Starfield is on a subscription for cheap gamers doesn't help it much either.

solideagle202d ago

wait, EA sports FC is FIFA? I never knew lol

TheCaptainKuchiki202d ago

It's Europe. PS is the most dominant platform in Europe. Even Nintendo cannot compete.
And foobtall is an extremely popular sport in europe. So of course FC 24 would beat Starfield which is mostly Xbox/PC (or not as popular platforms as PS).

dumahim202d ago

@solideagle

Same game basically without FIFA since they no longer have the rights to use FIFA. I think FIFA wanted too much and EA pretty much said, "We don't need FIFA."

blacktiger202d ago

they changed so next time getting soccer they just ask players name and not the brand which is too expensive alone,

-Foxtrot203d ago

I assumed Xbox would have been given a push in September with Starfield unless people stuck mostly to PC

darthv72203d ago

this is EU were are talking about. XB constantly trails there no matter what.

Gamingsince1981203d ago

And in NA too , xbox is losing worse than last year somehow

MrNinosan203d ago

Well they lost is US as well.

S2Killinit203d ago

Xbox is simply not the same brand as PlayStation. Whether in U.S. or Europe. Im here in U.S. and I dont know anyone with an xbox. Even friends that used to play xbox up to 360 era, now are on PlayStation because all their friends are playing on PlayStation.

Hope xbox goes down the drain before they completely destroy console gaming. Or else change their behavior before its too late.

FinalFantasyFanatic202d ago

Doesn't Xbox trail in most countries, especially now? Even my friends who were die hard Xbox fans only own a PS4 and skipped the Xbox, I don't know anyone who owns one now.

XBOX sales down 35% from the same period, last year. Thats with the almighty Starfield.

MrNinosan203d ago (Edited 203d ago )

So the only month month Xbox would have have any chance to beat Playstation, they lost in both US and Europe. Their hopes lays with Japan...
PS5 up 175% without any exclusives as so many tend to point out, and Series S/(X) down 35% even thou they have the best year in term of games for 1.5 generation.

It's time to let go of being a console manufacturer and go full software.

Hofstaderman203d ago (Edited 203d ago )

This is exactly their plan. Call me insane now but I firmly believe that they moving to a sub and publisher paradigm and shifting away from consoles. They would actually be better off, they tried everything; attempted to convince us that the days of console generations are over, they attempted to upend the industry with gamepass and acquisitions. Actually if you look at all of this combined theyve been paving a way away from hardware for quite a while.

TiredGamer202d ago

This is exactly it. MS would love nothing more than to offer Gamepass on PlayStation as long as the revenue sharing still remained profitable. But Gamepass is NOT cheap to run and maintain with high profile titles, so they would need a ton of subscriptions to make it worth their while.

It’s also possible, if the subscription model fails, that XBox Studios just becomes another third party publisher releasing titles on PlayStation and Switch from their acquired library.

DOMination-202d ago

Would Sony allow Game Pass on PlayStation though, even if Microsoft was purely a publisher?

Maybe business will talk at the end of the day, but it feels like a long way from happening right now.

But I do agree with the overall point, it does feel like the end days for Xbox as we know it.

ChasterMies203d ago

Phil Spencer has been clear that Xbox has no hope of winning the console market. They are betting on tying up gamers with services.

Jin_Sakai203d ago

Their games are nothing to write home about either.

FinalFantasyFanatic202d ago

Yeah, not going to get a win out of Japan, that's for sure.

@Hofstaderman

You can already see them building up to this, especially towards early days of Game Pass, they're getting ready for a transition to a sub only service. I don't really trust them as a publisher though, they've mismanaged all their studios.

bigfish203d ago

Microsoft shot themselves in the foot ever since they endorsed the subscription service, effectively detatching themselves from what makes the console industry unique for millions of gamers, and in the process losing a sense of identity in the console gaming market.
