GameRant Writes "Fallout 5 is yet another instance of Bethesda announcing its upcoming games too early, and this may be more harmful than helpful for building hype."

Fallout 5, I doubt anyone cares that a game we all know is in development, received confirmation that it was, in fact, in development.

Kerppamaister663d ago

Yeah this is a big nothing burger

just_looken663d ago

Not really a nothing burger they basically said here is our first new ip starfield and we think its going to be so good we wont go back to that ip in another 8-10 years.

elder scrolls/fallout 5 has to come out before we even hear about starfield 2

and starfield dlc packs? no doubt shelved also.

All companies have future roll outs but when your using the same product but dress it differently for 20 years i was glad to see a new ip but nope after its out then they drag back the skeleton cows and milk milk again.

I am personally fallout/elder scrolls drained. do not forget eso and mobile version yeall

Now avowed lets go.

Tacoboto663d ago

An off the cuff acknowledgment that after Starfield comes ES6 and after ES6 comes Fallout 5 suddenly means they're dropping Starfield once it's out and shelving any and all post-release content?

Calm down. You do know Avowed isn't a new IP either, right?

Kerppamaister663d ago

@just_looken I think we can assume some things in the gaming scene. From Software are propably brainstorming their next game, GT will continue, GTA will continue after GTA6... Doesn't mean anything, no need to say they are ditching their previous games.

StarkR3ality663d ago (Edited 663d ago )

Yeah when they announced this it was like well no shit 😂

The problem isn't announcing games are in development, it's announcing release dates years in advance and then constantly having to delay them.

Devs should only announce release dates when they're 99% done and in the polishing stages.

*Cough* Cyberpunk *Cough*

Crows90662d ago

Well to be fair the higher ups did think they were 99% done. Otherwise they wouldn't have pushed the release.

Garbage management will always be garbage management. Feel bad for the devs who spent so much work on that game.

gamer9663d ago

It was also confirmed there will be another call of duty game after MW2022, i'm shocked

KillBill663d ago

Bad rant... but getting used to these bad rants being the norm now.

RaidenBlack663d ago

In one way, yea its True. But on the other, isn't it obvious?
Its similar to R* confirming that they'll be releasing GTA6 after RDR2, IW confirming that they'll be making a MW sequel and Capcom confirming the next Remake would be RE4.

Derekvinyard13663d ago

This game is at least 6-8 years out.

YodaCracker663d ago

At least. Starfield is 2023. Elder Scrolls is next. 2025 at the very, very earliest. Probably 2026-2027. Then another 3 years for Fallout 5? I miss the days of reasonable development cycles. When big games like GTA and TES didn’t take a decade to make.

RaidenBlack662d ago (Edited 662d ago )

Games have become more complex.

maelstromb662d ago (Edited 662d ago )

I have to laugh at this statement. Everyone truly wants to buy into this BS so badly. Yes, fact - games have become more complex. But no, fact - that doesn't mean they have to take 2, 3 or 10xs as long to develop. Technology/software has been designed to improve development cycles and create automated methods, efficiencies, etc. If a company as dumb as Bethesda thinks continuing to use an incredibly out-dated, inefficient, junk engine such as their Creation Engine makes any sense, they're absolutely bonkers. Building and using your own engine may have made sense for some devs in the past, but more and more are moving to engines such as Unreal b/c it isn't worth the continued time and expense and added risks of launching a game which already looks outdated at release b/c the dev cycles are 4-5 years on average. This is complete BS. What it comes down to is laziness on Bethesda's part. It's why they rely on the modding community to fix every single one of their inept, broken games.

The games taking a decade to make is a complete and utter lie. It's called lack of focus/vision, laziness and greed which drive artificial development cycles which appear to take 6-10+ years... The greed aspect comes in w/ the latest console generation as an excuse to jack up the retail price per game by $10 and through the micro-transaction driven/long-term monetization of games which ppl foolishly pour their money into time and time again (here's looking at you GTA V Online). Frankly, I'm disgusted by the state of the games industry for these reasons. Ubisoft, Bethesda, Rockstar, EA Games, they've turned the industry I've loved nearly my entire life into a virtual ghetto while they sling half-baked cheap tricks and premium, steaming sh** to their gullible customers.

porkChop663d ago

It was an off-the-cuff remark that Fallout 5 will have to wait. It's not even in development yet, hell they're probably not even in the planning stages. You're complaining about a confirmation of a game that everyone knows is coming after TES VI. What a pointless complaint.

They really need to get rid of weapon mods and bring back more unique weapons that are hard to get / find

anast13d ago

They won't improve it other than a slight graphical upgrade. They have always been better at live action than making games.

MocBistro13d ago

Only way it could improve is taking it away from Bethesda and regroup Classic Fallout (1&2) devs with decent budget and time to make it.

If they start now, we can have it as early as in 2031!

redknight8020d ago

Heck yeah, we can have a teaser trailer in 2031!? I am so excited already!!

Hedstrom20d ago

Yea, the teaser 2031 for the trailer 2035 is going to be awesome!

DOMination-19d ago

haha was about to say the same thing.

All these articles about a new Fallout are pointless right now. A game of that scope will likely be 1 year pre-production and 4 years development MINIMUM and that's if they start on it tomorrow. Lets talk about it again in four years time when it's officially announced, not when they're still working out who may develop the bloody thing.

Kaii20d ago

Yeah, allow the studio that hasn't slam dunked any games In recent memory to "fast track" the next Fallout game.

jeromeface20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Good, microsoft should look at their IP's with value and protect them from devs like bethesda after disasters like Starfield. Everyone would lose their minds if obsidian was able to make another fallout even though the new vegas team is long gone. .

Hereandthere20d ago

Lol, still port begging for hell divers 2.

I’m going to get back into Fallout 4 since I haven’t finished it yet. The recent update will likely give me more of an incentive to get to it sooner rather than later.

Crows9019d ago

The recent update does nothing except take up more space...

raWfodog19d ago

New armor, weapons, and mission(s) is enough for me, especially since I haven’t finished the game yet.

mastershredder19d ago

Where is the problem part again?
There is a show
There is 76 that is perfect for non-standard fallout players and perfect for Bethesda to coin up on.
There is a Fallout Shelter
There is Fallout 4 updated for current gen (that went free for subscription services in most cases).

Also there is a whole new audience that has never seen or played fallout before. Seems like they have PLENTY to dig into, before they worry about FO5.

They are beyond trending and are banking with willing investors atm, and you are calling it a problem. Mkay. Sounds more like you are just chapped that FO5 is not point of discussion. No worries, it is coming, just gonna take a bit. Just be glad MS and Bethesda ironed out their multi-platform woes, THAT was a problem, the rest is cake.

danno_omen19d ago

I called it a good problem because they have so much momentum, or did you fail to read that part

anast19d ago

That momentum is going to die when the new players realize their games aren't very well made compared to other games.

andy8519d ago

The answer is no there won't. 2030s
