Ghostwire Tokyo Features 6 Graphical Modes on PS5

Ghostwire Tokyo will feature six graphical modes on PS5! This has been confirmed during MP1st's recent hands-on session with the game.

They seem to be able to make 30fps RT enabled games so 4K 60fps should be the target for the Pro console. With AMD releasing FSR 2.0 soon I'm hoping good results for the standard PS5 too if devs start to use it.

Ive always said that instead of res and frame rate for mid gen consoles it would be raytracing. Not sure why people thought there wouldnt be them this time.

They are going to have to stretch this gen out longer before even thinking of a kid gen upgrade. People can’t even buy the launch consoles in stores…. Normally I’m all for midgen but it’s not anytime remotely soon.

@gamer7804. It may be that transistor supply constraints make a mid-gen update MORE likely. As Sony will look to re-architect its consoles to use components that are more readily available, it could produce a PS5 Pro that’s easier to supply and get into the hands of consumers.

I think we'll see a longer console generation again, so a PRO version in 3 or 4 years time could definitely be a thing (it depends on what improvements new APUs and RDNA 3 brings to the table).

These guys just made it future proof, just incase there is a mid gen console (which i kinda doubt) or the ps6. Which should be the norm now, to have a unlock fps mode so you dont have to patch it later.

It's always good to have more options, it's more PC-like this way, and I'm okay with that, although I think 4 options would have been plenty.

Something feels off with this game.

The environment is too clean and sterile, and I'm not a fan of the enemy designs. At least the ones I've seen so far.
The combat is flashy, but seems pretty tame and straight forward.
I hear it's supposedly open world, and might even have some immersive sim elements, which could be interesting.

I know Tango is a talented team, but I'm getting little hype out of this.

Time will tell though. Another good game on the market is another good game on the market, and I hope it ends up being that.

It's not open world. There'll be open areas like in evil within 2 but that's likely it.
As for sim....not sure where you got that impression.
Why would evil within creators move towards any kind of sim? Not at all the impression I'm getting.

As far as combat goes....pretty sure we're getting highly scripted combat scenarios. This game will likely be tough if evil within is anything to go by.

Oh no. Immersive sim is a sort of sub genre most closely related to an RPG.
Player agency over how your character handles the world, missions, and story.

Think games like Prey (2017), Dishonored, and Deus Ex.

Essentially the world is a playground for you to explore and handle how you choose. Whether that be through your character's skills, or the player's own intuition.

And I was just getting that from comments from the 18 minute gameplay video they put out. I haven't been following this one too closely.

I love Immersive Sims like Prey, Dues Ex, Dishonored, but this one seems to be lacking something, I can’t put my hand on it. Enemy design looks great, but the previews make it seem like the game is really easy. Controls appear to be stiff as well when it comes to movement and aiming. Idk about the rooftop traversal it seems like an afterthought.

I want to pick it up because I love folklore of any kind, but this game just isn’t grabbing me.

That option looks more like a word salad to me, I'd accept lower resolutions (1440p) with ray tracing and 60fps as an option.

I dont want many modes i want only 1 which is optimized to perfection. Well maybe 30fps, 60fps and 120fps if possible.

Priority number 1: 60fps
Priority number 2: resolution
Then focus the available resources on graphics. Nothing else is needed.

Image quality is more important than graphics. Who the hell wanna play 1080p for ray tracing? First need clean picture with good artistic taste that is the most important for the looks. Un nececcary tricks are not worth it if the image quality goes to fhd. I remember witcher 3 with gtx 1070 everything run nicely on ultra until hair fx is turned on then it drops like 30fps. For what? Effect you cant even notice. Many modes only mean the devs mastered none. If focused 60fps only you get good resolution and good rt performance and image quality. Best examples are spiderman games on ps5 and ratchet and clank.all have good image quality with great RT and 60fps. It seems games are developing backwards now. I blame cross gen for this. Old gen support hurt current gen games. Ps4 and xbox one need to be dropped out allready. You didnt see ps3 getting killzones and horizones or any other exclusives when ps4 launched. Now every game is first ps4 gen then ps5 what time is left.

at some point just make it like a PC and have individual settings. since its a console, set up a performance budget and for every parameter you increase it takes out of your budget. when you use up all your budget, thats your custom graphics mode and doing it this way will make sure you always get good performance but with the things important to you prioritized.

Hey developers, how about a 1080p (or maybe 1440p) 60fps ray-tracing quality mode?

I'm seriously getting tired of this laser-like focus on 4k, as it is such an incredible waste of hardware resources for very little gain in PQ. And it's only a matter of time before devs are primarily focused on 8k and we are limited to PS2 style graphics because of it. 30fps needs to go away. I had no problem with 30fps last gen, but now that I have experienced 60fps with the PS5, there is no going back. 4k 30fps quality modes be damned.

Let me ask you, if you take a picture of somebody, what will look more realistic; A picture of them in 4k, or a picture of them in 1080p? Answer: They will look equally as realistic with 4k being a bit sharper when downscaled to a lower resolution.

So why are we ok with using 4x's the processing power of 1080p to get a bit more sharpness? Most of the strength of these new GPU's is being completely wasted on resolution alone. Imagine how much better games could look if 85% of the GPU wasn't being used to render in 4k.

It'd be nice if we could start to be introduced to more 120 fps modes. Especially for shooters. Even if they're scaled back, the option would be nice. I'm sure some of these 4k/60 games would be able to run at 1080/120.

Damn must it use Unreal Engine 4, that engine is really not great at all. You have forced TAA on the PC, and if you forcefully disable it in the games ini, some other effects will become disabled. Like in some games DLSS will not work, and it introduces a lot of pixel artifacts on Screen Space Reflections. TAA is blurry and a crappy form of AA. SMAA is a whole lot better and one of the best out there, and simple to enable in reshade. Heres to hoping this game will not have that issue if forcing TAA to off.
