There's this thing called Fun where everyone achieves it differently in a game.

You don't have to use it, you arn't dying on a hill being mad at others for wanting to play a game how they want.

There's literally a community who speed run the game by bypassing content and abusing the games stats/map clippings, etc. Bet you don't pitch a fit at these "Wheres the fun in the game now, you skipped all the content"

That's the thing though, Elden Ring isn't "incredibly hard". It's challenging, sure but the essence of the game is that it redefines how you approach open world games. Lowering the difficulty and reducing the grind fundamental changes the game, for the worse. It no longer represents the vision of the devs the sense of achievement from finally felling a boss that has kicked your arse countless times has now been removed.

I get that it's only a mod and you don't have to install it but really, I just don't see why you'd want to dilute a game in such a way

The challenge is the only reason these games became popular. It's like people here think that souls players had fun just by looking at a wall. It's always been about headbutting the enemy until he dies. And with practice you can easily wipe the floor with about 80% of the bosses in elden ring.

The games design is FromSoftwares. They’ve said in the past they will not be adding the difficulty options to their games and I hope they stick with their vision on this.

I guess if you have a problem with my stance, you should have a problem with the stance of people begging FromSoftware to add difficulty settings to their game, right?

How does a mod that you don't have installed affect your experience? If you think the game is fun as-is don't install the mod and keep enjoying the game. With the Souls games everything about it is build around its difficulty. From gameplay to enemies to level design, it's the core of their games. It's not like with other games were you use cheats because the game is too difficult.

By using cheats in a Souls game is taking away everything that these games represent.

Well cheating in any game is for losers. It's very serious in a game with eSports. In souls games there's the pvp aspect so cheaters really ruin the experience. It seems to me that some people have double standards here with regards to this game.

For those that didn't read article the cheats are as follows
1. Never lose souls. You automatically recover them after dying. No more risking.
2. Automatically regenerate health after killing enemies.
3. Receive a shit ton of runes to immediately level up

The reason souls fans get annoyed is simple. They trek on into the game and earn their victories fairly, just for someone else to have their hand held.

It's like someone graduating college and getting a good career and buying a house, but their friend was raised rich and was just given his career and his house was bought by his rich daddy.

Does it directly affect the one who worked for it? Yes..... They had to work for what they had and it's annoying when some people are just given that something with little work.

The comparison may seem extreme but it's a similar feeling, just on a different scale.

And there lies the problem. Why should anyone treat beating the game as a badge of honor that someone must earn the right to flaunt? If you enjoyed the experience and got what you wanted out of it then what's the point of getting frustrated with other players who chose to enjoy the game in their own way? I have been helping my friend get into it by doing the cloud exploit. I’m level 126 and almost done with the game but he’s barely able to hold his own. So I dropped him runes to get to lvl 78 while still in the beginning of game.

Started dropping powerful weapons and ashes as well. All he has to do it get used to the mechanics now and have fun. I don’t mind helping my buddy out.

Just because you don't hack and cheat in your game doesn't mean it isn't common. Especially in a game like Elden ring you don't want to fight done dude who gave himself boss attacks and auto pot.

You might be shocked by I do play games on pc, but usually just skyrim to mod it to balls so I can up the graphics, make the game more difficult etc.... But of course your elitist attitude would assume I only play on console. I have a 3080 and aside from skyrim use my pc for mmos..

So yes, pc is filled with hackers and cheaters....that's why anti cheat software exists.

Honestly I don’t care for an “easy mode”. All I would like is higher rune earnings so I don’t HAVE to grind for hours on end in between bosses/areas. Farming litteraly puts me to sleep it’s so repetitive.
And I’d like a quest log. Not something that tells me exactly where to go. Just something to tell me who I’ve spoken to, where that person was, and what that person said. I keep forgetting to write shit down or make notes. So I’m constantly just wandering around having no clue what I’m supposed to be doing or where I should go. So I end up exploring for hours but making no real progress besides leveling up a tiny bit.
And leading into my first point, I played for 5+ hours just exploring because I didn’t know where to go. And in 5 or so hours I earned 15,000 runes. Not even enough to level up once at my current level. Which is still too low to move to new areas as I’m getting one shotted by anything other than the average enemy walking around. I hate farming. And people act like it’s totally okay that it’s completely necessary. It’s not. The game should be hard. But the gameplay should be hard. Playing for 5+ hrs and feeling like I’ve accomplished almost nothing just annoys me. Feels like wasted time.

I don't agree with the criticism of an easy mode mod. It's a freakin mod. You play the game the way you want to. It's a mod. The original game doesn't have an easy mode. There's all kinds of mods made for games. Cheat mods, money mods, etc. Most people don't criticize those mods, because it's been around since modding began and it generally doesn't affect anyone's game besides the people who installed them. One more time... It's a mod. That's why we have mods, to make the modify the game the way YOU want to play it

Honestly sometimes I think from soft devs are a sadistic bunch and actually purposely want to abuse gamers. What I find difficult with souls games is all the secrets, the secrets that give you a little bit more of a chance to survive. The fake walls, the obscure and totally obtuse quest that make zero sense as to how to complete them. I honestly can say I wouldn't have made it far in elden ring if not for the guides and wiki. The secrets and cryptic quest are infuriating and scarier than any boss. If people want to cheat and bypass the BS from soft thinks is fun I get it. They straight be trolling gamers in these games and sometimes it feels downright abusive. I applaude speed runners and people who put in cheat codes to break the abusive nature of this game its good to give as much as you can take. Everyone else who enjoys these kind of games and like it's masochistic nature should not let that be ruined by those who are just not into that part of the game but love everything else.
