Capcom releasing Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 on Xbox Series X, PC and PS5 with "visual enhancements"

Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 are coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with visual enhancements later this year!

Those who currently own these games on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be eligible for a digital upgrade at no additional cost.

"Developed using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, all three titles will tout cutting-edge features including ray tracing, high frame rate, and 3D audio to enhance the immersion of the award-winning experiences. For PlayStation 5 players, all three titles also feature engaging DualSense support for Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers."

Just visual enhancements?

For God sake Capcom, we want a reworked directors cut of Resident Evil 3

It could have been so much better than it was

-Foxtrot793d ago (Edited 793d ago )

And? I never said it wasn't

My point is that people would pay for the RE3 Directors Cut considering how much people are going on about it, we just want the game to be, you know, not half a game.

LOGICWINS792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

It does sting that we aren't getting Clocktower DLC, but Capcom giving us a "free" next-gen patch is a welcome surprise. I held out on buying these games thinking they would be re-released for PS5/XSX.

EDIT: Btw, these upgrades are coming "later this year"...not next month. A "Director's Cut" is still possible. Capcom may just be saving that announcement for E3.

CrimsonWing69792d ago

I absolutely love these games. I’m ok with just an actual visual enhancement… granted it’s noticeable

MadLad792d ago

Foxtrot is almost never happy with anything that happens in gaming.

They could probably announce tomorrow that they've actually been secretly remaking every title in the series; utterly perfecting every mechanic and in eye popping fidelity, and it they all come out tonight, for free, for anyone with any sort of gaming device, and he'd just be angry they didn't say something about Dino Crisis.

Yui_Suzumiya792d ago

I thought it was fun as is.. sure I was sour that a few things got cut and it would be awesome if it would have been more complete but it was still a fun ride despite all that.

BlackTar187792d ago

You can beat it in 1hr easily on your second playthrough

Knightofelemia792d ago

A director's cut of the RE3 remake I highly doubt will ever happen.

fsfsxii792d ago

this dude loves complaining about shit lmao, just enjoy the free upgrade and move on

Bigman4k792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

Facts people always complaining about something that is free

All for free. Wonder how the "But developers should be paid!" crowd will feel...

In seriousness I sooo want RE7 with a PSVR2 upgrade.

generic-user-name792d ago

"Developers should be paid" isn't the ridiculous opinion you seem to think it is.

Capcom are working on improving the RE Engine for the next games so the cost of these updates was likely negligible in the grand scheme of things.

Orchard792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

If by developers, you mean the huge corporations employing developers, sure. The actual developers aren't seeing a cent of those paid upgrades.

"cost of these updates was likely negligible"

That's inaccurate. Even the smallest change to core systems in a video game incurs large costs such as having to re-QA the entire game, having to go through certification again, etc.

Just because you're upgrading your engine doesn't mean updating old games is close to free.

Yui_Suzumiya792d ago

That would certainly be fun but I don't want a heart attack just yet, lol

GJC1792d ago

That only applies to Naughty Dog 😉

Does RE8 have VR? I have it but haven't played it yet. I have psvr and RE7 (awesome experience)
But I haven't gotten the piece to connect the VR to my ps5.

Tacoboto792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

It does not have VR - only RE7 has it (and yes it was really awesome!)

Cmon CAPCOM.......give us the Clocktower DLC you've been hiding from us... and give us more story content for RE2 Remake!

LOGICWINS792d ago

I'd rather Capcom focus on remaking RE0 and Code Veronica. Those games did way more to push the story forward than RE3 did.

Orchard792d ago

We definitely need an RECV remake, more so than RE4 which they're rumored to be working on (but I get why they would work on that first given how big of a success it was).

RE0 is hit and miss for me, it wasn't that fun IMO, but if they tweaked the item system it might be more enjoyable.

hiawa23792d ago

I am fine with the games as they are now. I would like RE4 remaster cleaned up for the current consoles, though.

The prevalence of parrying: Why is it so popular?

Parrying has been creeping into more games, with almost every high-profile title of the last few years featuring it in some way.  Why?

i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)

Dudeson42d ago (Edited 42d ago )

I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.

New Resident Evil 2 Remake Fixed Camera Mod Adds A Nostalgic Twist

A new mod brings the highly nostalgic fixed angles to the Resident Evil 2 remake, bringing the game closer to the original 1998 experience.

darthv7250d ago

Lego games are always fun... and that is one I had not played before.

isarai50d ago

It's always the ine they leave out if the headline that interests me most 😅 DBZ Kakarot, been waiting for this to pop up on plus

Kyizen50d ago

I completely missed that DBZ Kakarot was in the group, I have midnight sons and RE3 so was kinda disappointed.

StormSnooper50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Yea, it’s my last chance to play my childhood, now that he is gone. I’m watching way too many good anime at the moment to rewatch the series but this is the perfect excuse to visit that universe.

jznrpg50d ago

Never played Midnight Suns and probably won’t anytime soon but maybe someday. Pretty good month not great not horrible. I used to love sports games when I was a kid but that was before the monetization they went through and now I avoid them.

phoenixwing50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Not all sports games are like that but ea and 2k games are definitely

DarXyde50d ago

Definitely give Midnight Suns a download if you've got Plus.

It's great.

phoenixwing40d ago

I agree midnight sun's is fun

Eonjay50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Heard a lot of good things about Midnight Suns! Also looking forward to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and will probably download 2K24 as well.

LucasRuinedChildhood50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

Not a great month for me. Will give Midnight Suns a go.

I've never played Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier. Might give it a go although it's supposed to just be okay.

Never played a Phoenix Wright game before, so might try Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy.

SonyStyled50d ago

The Lost Frontier isn’t a true Jak and Daxter game. If you haven’t played them before I’d highly advise skipping The Lost Frontier and spending your time on the trilogy. The real Jak games are developed by Naughty Dog

LucasRuinedChildhood50d ago

I'm a big Jak & Daxter fan. Just not that into portables so I never picked this one up (didn't know there was a PS2 port when I was younger).
