God of War PC Review - A Nearly Flawless Port | BossLevelGamer

BLG writes: "The PC port of God of War takes an already amazing game and makes it look and play better than ever before. Provided you have a rig powerful enough to take advantage of all the new upgrades. But even without all the bells and whistles, God of War remains a modern masterpiece and you owe it to yourself to give it a shot."

Without a doubt the PC will take it and any other game to new heights, I'm just annoyed that we have 5 patches so far. If the game was delayed another few weeks or longer to fix these issues it would have been a better experience.

“New heights” ..
A. The cost of your hardware matters. Just because it is on pc does not mean you get the best version.
B. The game itself, as in what the whole game is, does not change one bit.
Performance is nice, but absolutely does not take a game to new heights due to the fact that the average gaming pc is not pushing this game to anything new over the PS4 version.
The horribly commercialized sales point of the best possible version on the most expensive pc is what gow, or any game for that fact, is on pc.
You can smell the filth in this dirty marketing campaign.

5 years down the road the PS4 version is going to play like the PS4 version. The PS5 version is going to play like the PS5 version.
Whereas the PC will have this game modded out, PC performance will only improve the overall experience year after year.

Yeah, this is and will always be the definitive edition of the game.

I really don't want to hear about the cost of hardware when I'm seeing people happily pay 2 to 3 times msrp for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. That, itself, makes it very evident that it was never about the cost of a gaming PC, but purely brand loyalty and moving to another platform.

Why are you so insecure? The lack of knowledge or realism of console gamers is just laughable at this point. I don't know one person in my real life who games on a PC that isn't a gaming PC. "The average PC" is such a nonsensical statement. PC's are always evolving, what is your definition of an "average PC"? I have an RTX 2080/I7-8700K and this game is absolutely incredible on it. To think games will be the same on console and pc is asinine. The customization with adjusting every setting makes an entire world of difference. If someone played a game like Destiny 2 on their console then played the same game on PC with maxed settings, 144fps, maxed FOV, they are going to think they are playing a different game. Until you really sit down and play games on a gaming PC, you have zero idea of how different they feel. Performance is everything and to think playing this game on a gaming PC over a PS4 will not take it to new heights is just either pure ignorance or denial because of some weird loyalty to a piece of plastic.

Might be in a minority here but I didn't enjoy any of the sections playing as Atreus or having companions at all. If I had my way it'd be Kratos on his lonesome from start to finish. Straightforward action gameplay without the endless boring chatter.
