Rainbow Six Extraction Review - IGN

In one recurring mission in Rainbow Six Extraction, your Special Ops veteran is transported into a hellish parallel dimension where they face off against a malignant, mutated facsimile of one of your fellow Operators from the Rainbow Six Siege cast. An armored, multi-tiered health bar appears across the top of the screen, and it depletes as you dump clip after clip of ammunition into their scaly carapace. It is a cosmic, apocalyptic boss fight, and it’s hard not to think about just how far this series has strayed from its once-dogmatic faithfulness to gritty Navy SEAL realism. In Extraction, Ubisoft successfully brings the series to its wildest frontiers yet, but while this high-stakes co-op creates thrills out of the gate, it doesn’t seem to have the same staying power as its competitive cousin.

I really miss the old Ubisoft.

There is nothing about this game that has heart or style. It's a lifeless husk of the former Ubisoft.

"There is nothing about this game that has heart or style. It's a lifeless husk of the former Ubisoft."

You see? That´s the type of negative statement that some people make about a company when said company still are making games for their beloved platform. All of that just because a single game got mixed reviews. It´s not even bad. Extraction is 75 on Metacritic (SX). Yet:

"They´re nothing but a shadow of their former self"

We heard that when Fallout 76 got released. Same with Activision and CoD. Bioware... etc.

Then, these companies get acquired in blink of an eye and people get mad. Go figure.

If you think Ubisoft's problem is a single game then I really don't know what to tell you.

They also CHOSE to put this game out, I didn't force them nor am I going to apologize to them when the game barely sells anything.

Make a compelling product and I'll be there. I want them to do well, I like Ubisoft but I will not support their GaaS generic shooter #4.

@Nakiro

"If you think Ubisoft's problem is a single game then I really don't know what to tell you."

Don´t bother. I just find your comment "a lifeless husk of the former Ubisoft." a bit exaggerated and dramatic that´s all.

Actually playing AC Valhalla on SX and having a blast. The game is beautiful and insanely detailed. Legion is next. Hyped looking forward for Splinter Cell.

Also, I have friends playing Phoenix Rising and they told me that game is mandatory for any BOTW fan.

I mighty as well check it out.

FPS_D3TH865d ago

Lmao what is this deranged fanboy inspired statement. Ubisoft does in fact produce a ton of garbage. Doesn’t take a fanboy to figure that one out

CaptainHenry916864d ago (Edited 864d ago )

This is about the same score Activision and EA games get, especially Call of Duty all gaas and microtransaction games😀

This game is generic trash. R.I.P. Tom Clancy

Youngindy21865d ago

Just think we could have had a new Splinter Cell by now, but instead we get this game nobody asked for.

Ethereal865d ago

Like most games released these days, just wait a year for all the patches and updates and pick it up at $10 on sale or free. ;)

Blaze929865d ago

This is not Rainbow Six. smh

siLENTEsKI865d ago

This. If they wanted to release a co-op alien shooter, fine. But why slap the Rainbow Six brand on it, aside from hoping to lure people in?

Good month. I recommend PS users to download R6 Extraction. It is seriously a really fun and polished co-op game.

Totally agree. The game got dragged in the review market but, get some friends together and it’s definitely worth a shot. It’s just as good with shooting mechanics as siege but no sweat lords to compete with

That's a crap ton of older good titles...some of which I never got to.

I’ve been holding out but I think when they start putting psvr 2 titles on there it’ll be my time to dive in

crazyCoconuts445d ago

I was thinking the same thing when I locked in on the deals they had during the last holiday season. I'm normally not a fan of subs but this was so cheap and the likelihood of them adding PSVR2 is pretty high imo. Hopefully within the next 6 months.

SullysCigar445d ago

It'll happen for sure at some point. They did OG PSVR titles on Plus before. Hopefully they'll be great games that flew under the radar, like The Light Brigade seems to be.

We did a radio segment on this recently. You have rising costs and lower sales and many in the industry think it could be a rough year. What seemed like a good idea when people were staying home is not so wise an investment now. Add to that rumors of hostile takeovers and labor unrest.

deleted501d ago

Microsoft is supposed to be doing a massive layoff tomorrow in the thousands too. Not sure how much will be in the gaming sector.

You’d think they’d realise that maybe relying on AC isn’t such a good idea after all

It’s like they got so used to it they thought they could ride that wave forever

What should've happened years ago, EA should be next

PapaBop501d ago

Honestly, I couldn't care less. Ubi have been trend chasing for too long and their sub par open world games have become so stale. A radical shake up wouldn't be a bad idea going forward, the last Ubi game I bought was Division 2 and didn't last five hours on that before I got bored.

Zombieburger638501d ago

Ubi deserves to go under. They’ve run Tom Clancy name through the mud and trashed every good franchise they own.

Rebel_Scum501d ago

Immature opinion. You’re saying thousands of people deserve to lose their job. How about writing a comment on how they can improve rather than what you said.

RaveTears501d ago

There no point talking how to improve Ubisoft, if they don’t want to improve themselves. As long Guillemot family is in charge, they going to keep destroying their Franchise by making it a live service, empty open world, rpg elements that are time waster, adding NFT and follow trend once is dying.

FPS_D3TH501d ago

What’s the point? People have been telling Ubisoft that they want Sam Fisher to come back for years but Ubi would rather attempt to chase trends for money instead. Ubi is tone deaf and honestly so are the employees if they don’t recognize the state of the studio they work for

Zombieburger638500d ago

I’m better off talking to a rock than trying to get Ubisoft to take literally any advice. Ubisoft wants to be like 343 and shit on its fans but we’ve seen how well that’s worked out.
