Five PlayStation Predictions for 2022

I'd agree with like half of these.

Director's Cuts - Very likely.

PSVR Full Reveal with 2023 release - Full reveal for sure, probably at E3. I expect a late 2022 release though (although for most people, that means 2023 anyway given the shortages + scalpers).

PC support - obviously going to happen.

Retro games - Yes. There's no smoke without fire, and there's plenty of recurring fire around a few old IPs.

PS5 slim - Literally no chance of this happening. It's way too early in the generation. I'd say 2023 or 2024 for any new console variants.

considering how hard it is to manufacture the main units, I agree with the unlikelihood of a Slim variant at this point.

Plus they've gone back to making PS4's because they can't get components to make PS5's!! No hope of a slim any time soon. I can't believe after more than a year out, they're still so scarce.

PSVR2 is already being mass produced...why would it drop in 2023?

Exactly. I don’t know why this article thinks 2023. Unless they’re expecting a delay but I don’t think that’ll be the case.

I do think it’ll be hard to get one before 2023 though because shortages plus scalpers.

it could simply mean that one component has begun production. Doesn't mean expect the completed kits anytime soon.

I'd predict a combined PSNow and PS+ than a slim. Maybe even their rumored workaround for older titles too. I'd love to use my own PS3 discs on my PS5 and have them play. Motorstorm series running 60fps upscaled to 4k would be sweet.

PS3 disks running on PS5 would be an awesome addition, literally the best announcement of the year for me if it happened. Even better if PS1 and PS2 are included. So many great titles across those 3 consoles.

PSNow and PS+ combined / some form of game pass competitor seems very likely at this point. Too many rumors popping up for it not to have some level of truth behind it.

Anecdotally, it sounds like things are easing up in that department. Ebay prices are slowly coming down. And another market player, Nvidia, thinks GPU shortages will end 2nd half of this year. So some positive signs.

Personally, I just got a PS5 direct from Sony. I put myself in the queue for a chance to buy one from them 11/21/21, and got an email Jan 4th with a link to buy one the next day. I have 2 other friends who have one as well, & neither bought from scalpers, so I feel like light may be approaching there.

The only one I disagree on is the Director's Cut one. I think we'll see one for The Last Of Us II with either or both a new DLC and the MP. Besides that I don't really see another one.

I’m gonna make a very bold prediction…. 2022 will have new release games?!

Psvr2 I think it's got a chance of coming this year. I think a full reveal around July or August with a November release date. Supply issues may not be a problem though as Afterall it's a peripheral.

We will probably see some more PC porta that's a given and I think it's going to be a 2 year exclusivity cycle with that being reduced over time.

Some new ips not every studio will be working on sequels or remakes.
