socom.us.playstation.com: "Today, I would like to update you on some of the odds and ends within the 1.30 update.
First, I wanted to mention that the 1.30 update contains fixes for over 100 issues; some big and some small. We've been very busy fixing as many issues as possible in addition to adding the new features contained within the 1.30 update. The 1.30 update is more stable than 1.20, has a lot of the framerate/lag hitches fixed and many gameplay issues resolved. This update should resolve a good number of issues which players are experiencing."
Last year I wrote an article titled, The State of SOCOM. I discussed my
love and history for the beloved third person shooter that helped pioneer
online multiplayer on consoles. It has been six years since we last had a
new SOCOM game.
Baffles me as to why they have not done anything with this franchise. Seeing as how it was #1 on the official PlayStation poll.
With all the trash put up weekly on the App Store why has nobody done a clone of this yet. I've been playing Defiance as my go to 3rd person since 2013 but still nothing like that old school Socom/Socom 2 up all night gameplay.
the only game on that list that's like socom is wild land if you want socom type games then you will have to invest in a PC
RAINBOW SIX: is the closest you'll get to Socom.
Also, in response to @lookatthisi
They let go the creators, and I think socom is a game that's hard to clone even the creators had a hard time making Socom 2, Socom 3.

"Would you purchase a game you can’t play for a single penny? Video game retailer GameStop seems to think that it is worth trying to sell to this market."
Depends the situation. Usually if they have a trade in X and get Y bonus for preowned purchases, a store will let you have the excess credit if you make 1 purchase and 1 cent is cheap enough where I wouldn't have to bother returning it or eating the cost out of laziness.
Stan replied passionately, sadness creasing his face, “they’re shutting us down. Offline, man, off-fucking-line. I dedicated my life to this, and it’s just ending. This is the last battle.” - PSLS
MAG will be missed, my all-time favorite shooter. They're shutting servers down in January.
"This is a limitation of the PS3 SDK/System Software and there is nothing we can do about it"
THIS is a common theme with the PS3. When will people learn, it is NOT the PSN that is to blame for things such as this, and lack of features, it is the PS3 SDK/System Software that is lacking.
I don't want to see anybody else thinking that these kind of things can just be patched in. It's the SDK that's limited, the APIs that are available do not support certain features. Home game launching is one example, custom soundtracks in all games is another. Nor do I want to see people saying the PSN is to blame because that's just the network service, which is actually pretty reliable. It's the limitations of the PS3 SDK/System Software.
Seriously, enough with update news. Release the damn thing already. You don't have to make the ultimate update, just release what you have so far and release what you're working on later on >_>
I Agree they really need to stop wasting time updating us and just release the damn thing then provide some patch notes.
People LOVE socom. I didn't really know this until I met a Socomer.
They will put up with ALLLLLL of this crap just because they love the game. But s6 should really take care of the fans here.
Release the Update and SFTU because there are tons more updates that need to be done for the game to be fun to most.
its 2008 and Slant6 cant add a feature for an ONLINE ONLY GAME that allows me to join a friend.
Yes thats right, you cant just click on a friend or find what game they are in.
Right.. In SOCOM.
not only that but 1/2 the stuff on the box is a lie since its not in the game.
It's nice that their taking the time to implement all these features, but I'm running low on patience...I've been around since the first installment in the franchise and as well as Slant Six has done in recent weeks, the game should NOT have shipped as early as it did...
With that said, 1.30 needs to launch before Christmas or I'll be moving on to different titles. Resistance, LittleBigPlanet and Bioshock have all been collecting dust for about a month or two now, so hurry up and get us the patch that features-features we should have had at launch
